Toons are out here dodging almost everything.

“If there is a Toon monster in my opponent’s Monster Zone, can my Toon monsters affected by the effect of Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon attack directly?”
Q: If the effect of my Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon (“Your Toon monsters can attack directly”) is applying, can my Toon monsters attack directly in the following situations?
(A) There is a face-up Toon monster in my opponent’s Monster Zone, and my Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon has the effect “Can attack your opponent directly, unless they control a Toon monster, in which case this card must target a Toon monster for its attacks”.
(B) Toon World is on my field, there are both Toon monsters and non-Toon monsters in my opponent’s Monster Zone, and my Toon Dark Magician has the effect “While you control “Toon World” and your opponent controls no Toon monsters, this card can attack your opponent directly”.
A:
(A) It cannot attack directly. This is because even though the effect of your Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon is applying, the effect of Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon still states “this card must target a Toon monster for its attacks”. (It can only attack the face-up Toon monster in your opponent’s Monster Zone.)
(B) It can attack directly. The effect of Toon Dark Magician does not state that it must target a Toon monster for its attacks, therefore it can attack either the Toon monster or non-Toon monster in your opponent’s Monster Zone, or attack directly. (However, it cannot attack directly if the effect of Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon is not applying and there is a face-up Toon monster in your opponent’s Monster Zone.)
For situation (A), the same applies to the following cards with the effect “Can attack your opponent directly, unless they control a Toon monster, in which case this card must target a Toon monster for its attacks”:
– Toon Summoned Skull
– Toon Mermaid
– Manga Ryu-Ran
– Toon Dark Magician Girl
For situation (B), the same applies to the following cards with the effect “While you control “Toon World” and your opponent controls no Toon monsters, this card can attack your opponent directly”:
– Toon Masked Sorcerer
– Toon Harpie Lady
– Toon Gemini Elf
– Toon Cyber Dragon
– Toon Black Luster Soldier
– Toon Barrel Dragon
– Toon Buster Blader
– Toon Ancient Gear Golem
– Red-Eyes Toon Dragon
– A monster equipped with Comic Hand
“If I choose Witchcrafter Unveiling with the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni, does the effect “your opponent cannot activate cards or effects” also apply?”
Q: If I banish Witchcrafter Unveiling to activate the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni, will the part of the effect “your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the activation of your Spellcaster monster effects for the rest of this turn” also apply to the Special Summoned monster?
A: It is applied.
“When applying the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama, can I choose a monster that is unaffected by monster effects or that cannot be destroyed by card effects?”
Q: When applying the second effect of my Unchained Enma Lord Yama (“If this card on the field would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 face-up card on either field instead”), can I choose to destroy monsters such as First of the Dragons or Block Dragon while their Continuous Effects are applying?
A: No, you cannot. When applying an effect that destroys another card instead, such as the effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama, you cannot choose a card that is unaffected by that effect or a card that cannot be destroyed by monster effects as the card to be destroyed instead. (You also cannot choose a card that will not be destroyed by card effects a certain number of times due to effects such as Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon or Runick Slumber.)
Similarly, when applying the following effects, you cannot choose a card that is unaffected by monster effects or that cannot be destroyed by card effects:
– Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty
– Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En
– Legendary Lord Six Samurai – Shi En
– Superheavy Samurai Brave Masurawo
– Naglfar, Generaider Boss of Fire
– Muckracker From the Underworld
– Gouki The Great Ogre
– Odd-Eyes Lancer Dragon
– Dinowrestler Giga Spinosavate
– Proxy Dragon
NEW ENTRIES
“Can I activate the effect of The Abyss Dragon Swordsoul after applying the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World?”
Q: The third effect of Toon World the Perfect World is applied, and a monster is temporarily banished and returned to the Monster Zone. In this case, can the first effect of The Abyss Dragon Swordsoul be activated?
A: Yes, it can. (Although the monster that was banished returned to the Monster Zone, it was still banished by a card effect.)
“Can the effects of Duke Archfiend, Royal Archfiend, and Highness Archfiend that Special Summon themselves from the GY by activated on the same Chain?”
Q: If my Ritual Monster is destroyed by battle while Duke Archfiend, Royal Archfiend, and Highness Archfiend are all in my GY, can their effects that Special Summon themselves be activated on the same Chain?
A: Yes, they can. For Trigger Effects of monsters that Special Summon themselves from the hand, you can only activate 1 on the same Chain. However, the effects of Duke Archfiend, Royal Archfiend, and Highness Archfiend are all Trigger Effects that can only be activated in the GY, not in the hand, so they do not fall in that category.
“Can I Special Summon 2 copies of Clown Crew Drish using the effects of Clown Crew Malabarisme or Clown Crew Soiree Operations?”
Q: When I activate the effects of Clown Crew Malabarisme or Clown Crew Soiree Operations that allow me to Special Summon 2 “Clown Crew” monsters from my Deck/Extra Deck, if there are no Main Monster Zones available that a Link Monster points to, can I Special Summon a first Clown Crew Drish to the Extra Monster Zone and a second Clown Crew Drish to the zone the first one points to?
A: No, you cannot.
If you use the effects of Clown Crew Malabarisme or Clown Crew Soiree Operations while you have no Main Monster Zones pointed to by Link Monsters, you can only Special Summon 1 Clown Crew Drish.
“Can I send a Magical Swamp King, that was Special Summoned by banishing Cyber Dragon, to the GY to Special Summon Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon?”
Q: If I activate the effect of Magical Swamp King by revealing Cyber Twin Dragon from my Extra Deck and banishing Cyber Dragon from my Deck, can I then Special Summon Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon using that Magical Swamp King as a material?
A: Yes, you can.
The Special Summon of Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon using the method written in its text is not a Fusion Summon, but the monsters sent to the GY are treated as Fusion Materials. Therefore, you can send a Magical Swamp King that can be treated as Cyber Dragon when used as Fusion Material to the GY to fulfill the “1 “Cyber Dragon” monster” requirement.
“What happens if I destroy a monster equipped with Spirit of the Six Samurai with the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama?”
Q: When applying the second effect of my Unchained Enma Lord Yama (“If this card on the field would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 face-up card on either field instead”), I choose a monster equipped with Spirit of the Six Samurai. In this case, is the Spirit of the Six Samurai destroyed instead?
A: Its effect is applied, so Spirit of the Six Samurai is destroyed instead.
Similarly, the following “If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead” effects are applied if the equipped monster would be destroyed by the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama:
– A-Assault Core
– B-Buster Drake
– C-Crush Wyvern
– W-Wing Catapult
– Y-Dragon Head
– Y-Yare Head
– Z-Metal Tank
– Z-Zillion Tank
– Union Driver
– Union Pilot
– Machina Gearframe
– Machina Peacekeeper
– Heavy Mech Support Platform
– Heavy Mech Support Armor
– Vylon Tesseract
– Vylon Pentachloro
– Fortune Chariot
– Valkyrie Chariot
– Oilman
– Trigon
– Rider of the Storm Winds
– Leng Ling
– Squeaknight
– Buster Blaster
– Torque Tune Gear
– Armored Cybern
– Unauthorized Bootup Device
– Number C80: Requiem in Berserk
– Legendary Ebon Steed
– Gladiator Beast’s Battle Archfiend Shield
– Full-Armored Xyz
Furthermore, if you choose to destroy Salamangreat Blaze Dragon with Xyz Materials when applying the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama, its effect “If this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, detach 1 material from it instead” must be applied, so no cards (including Salamangreat Blaze Dragon) are destroyed.
“If a monster that was destroyed and sent to the GY is then Special Summoned and used as Link Material, can that monster be targeted by the first effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama?”
Q: I Special Summoned a Fiend monster that was destroyed and sent to the GY this turn using another effect, then sent it to the GY again as Link Material. Can I activate the first effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama during the End Phase and target that monster?
A: No you cannot. (Since that monster was sent to the GY as Link Material, it is not treated as a monster that was destroyed and sent to the GY this turn.) The first effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama can only target monsters that were destroyed this turn, sent to the GY, and have remained there.
“If I apply the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama when resolving the first effect of Surge Blitzclique, do I still Special Summon a Thunder monster from my hand?”
Q: I targeted Unchained Enma Lord Yama with the first effect of Surge Blitzclique. When resolving that effect, if I apply the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama and destroy another card on the field instead, will the effect of Surge Blitzclique still Special Summon a Thunder monster from my hand? Also, does the effect “you cannot Special Summon Effect Monsters for the rest of this turn, except from the hand” still apply?
A: If you apply the second effect of Unchained Enma Lord Yama when resolving the first effect of Surge Blitzclique, and destroy another card on the field instead, the effect of Surge Blitzclique will not Special Summon a monster because the targeted card was not destroyed by that effect. However, the part of the effect “you cannot Special Summon Effect Monsters for the rest of this turn, except from the hand” still applies.
“What happens if my opponent applies the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World when I resolve Spell Card “Soul Exchange”?”
Q: I activate Spell Card “Soul Exchange” while my opponent controls Toon World the Perfect World and a Toon monster. When resolving the effect of that Spell Card “Soul Exchange”, what happens if my opponent applies the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World?
A: The banished Toon monster returns to your opponent’s field first, then you perform the Tribute Summon. Therefore, you can also Tribute that Toon monster, which was banished and returned to the field by the effect of Toon World the Perfect World, when performing the Tribute Summon.
As examples, in the following situations, a monster banished by the effect of your opponent’s Toon World the Perfect World returns to their field before the Tribute or Link Summon is performed:
● When you activate the effect of Soul Crossing
● When you activate the second effect of Ehther the Heavenly Monarch and apply the effect of The Monarchs Stormforth when performing the Tribute Summon
● When you activate the effect of Escalation of the Monarchs and Tribute Summon Thestalos the Shadowfire Monarch using the method written in its text
● When you activate the first effect of Floowandereeze & Eglen and apply the effect of Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds when performing the Tribute Summon
● When you activate the second effect of Clown Crew Biancaviso and Tribute Summon The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode to your opponent’s field
● When you activate the effects of World Legacy Awakens or I:P Masquerena and Link Summon Underworld Goddess of the Closed World
This applies when performing a Tribute Summon by activating the following effects (the monster banished by the effect of Toon World the Perfect World returns to the field before performing the Tribute Summon):
Monster effects
– Floowandereeze & Robina
– Floowandereeze & Eglen
– Floowandereeze & Stri
– Floowandereeze & Toccan

“Can I banish a Toon monster that is determined to be destroyed by battle using the effect of Toon World the Perfect World?”
Q: While my opponent controls Toon World the Perfect World, my Sky Striker Ace – Hayate battles an opponent’s Toon monster, and damage calculation determines that the opponent’s Toon monster is destroyed by battle. After damage calculation, I activate the effect of Sky Striker Ace – Hayate. When resolving the effect, can my opponent apply the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World and banish the monster that was determined to be destroyed by battle?
A: It can be banished. When the Toon monster is banished and returned to the Monster Zone, it is no longer considered to have been destroyed by battle and remains in the Monster Zone.
“If Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon is on the field and Mystical Space Typhoon is activated targeting Toon World the Perfect World, but Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon is banished by the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World, is it destroyed by its own effect after returning to the field?”
Q: Mystical Space Typhoon is activated targeting Toon World the Perfect World. If a Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon is banished by the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World, it returns to the field after Toon World the Perfect World has been destroyed by the effect of Mystical Space Typhoon, but will it then be destroyed by its own effect?
A: It is not destroyed. This is because Toon World the Perfect World was destroyed while Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon was banished.
The effects of the following cards will also not be applied, so they are not destroyed:
– Toon Goblin Attack Force
– Toon Gemini Elf
– Toon Summoned Skull
– Manga Ryu-Ran
– Toon Dark Magician Girl
– Toon Cannon Soldier
– Toon Masked Sorcerer
“Please explain Monster Cards.”
Q: If any of the following cards are destroyed, can I activate the first monster effect of Astrograph Sorcerer, the Starfrost Magician?
(A) A Token.
(B) A Monster Card treated as a Spell Card in the Spell & Trap Zone, or a Pendulum Monster Card in the Pendulum Zone.
(C) Huaquero of the Golden Land or Apophis the Swamp Deity that were Special Summoned as monsters by their own effects (and are still treated as Traps).
(D) The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine that was Special Summoned as a monster by its own effect (and is not still treated as a Trap).
A:
(A) & (B) It can be activated.
(C) & (D) It cannot be activated.
Regardless of where the card is located, cards whose original card type is a Monster, such as Tokens and Pendulum Monsters, are Monster Cards, whereas cards whose original card type is Spell/Trap Card are not Monster Cards. (“Monster Card” refers to a card whose original nature is Monster.)
If a Token in the Monster Zone or Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed, it is considered that a Monster Card was destroyed, but if a card whose original card type is Spell/Trap is destroyed in the Monster Zone, it is not considered that a Monster Card was destroyed.
“Can I add Warrior of Atlantis to my hand with the effect of Fish Sonar?”
Q: Can I add Warrior of Atlantis to my hand using the effect of Fish Sonar, which states “Add 1 Level 7 or lower monster from your Deck to your hand, that mentions “Umi”, or is a WATER Normal Monster”?
A: No, you cannot.
“Can I Special Summon Magistus Chorozo using a monster whose Type has changed?”
Q: Can I Special Summon Magistus Chorozo by sending the following monsters from the Monster Zone to the GY, using the Special Summoning method written in its text?
(A) A monster whose original Type is Plant, and whose current Type has been changed to Spellcaster by another effect.
(B) A monster whose original Type is Spellcaster, and whose current Type has been changed to Plant by another effect.
A:
(A) Yes, you can.
(B) No, you cannot.
The same applies when using a Fiend monster for the Special Summon of Necroquip Princess.
“At which point does the ‘cannot be negated’ effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter require a monster in a zone it points to?”
Q: If the following effects (A) through (C) are activated in response to the first effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter, or if effect (D) is applying when the effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is activated, at which point does the text “while this card points to a monster, this effect and its activation cannot be negated” check whether or not it is pointing to a monster?
(A) The effect of Baronne de Fleur that negates the activation.
(B) The effect of Mitsurugi Great Purification that negates the effect.
(C) The effect of Infinite Impermanence activated by targeting Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter.
(D) The effect of Mind Scan activated by declaring “Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter”.
A: (A) and (B) check whether or not Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is pointing to a monster when the effects of Baronne de Fleur or Mitsurugi Great Purification resolve.
(C) and (D) check whether or not it is pointing to a monster when the effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter resolves.
When using an effect that starts a Chain, and either negates the activation or the activated effect (such as Baronne de Fleur or Mitsurugi Great Purification), whether or not the activation/effect is negated is based on whether or not Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is pointing to a monster at the time the negation effect resolves.
When using an effect that negates all of the card’s effects (such as Infinite Impermanence or Mind Scan), or an effect that applies continuously without starting a Chain, whether or not the effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is negated is based on whether or not it is pointing to a monster when its own effect resolves.
The timing for determining whether the following card’s effect is negated is the same:
– Gold Pride – Pin Baller
“When resolving the first effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter, if the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World is applied and the monster Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter was pointing to is no longer present, will the effect be negated by Mind Scan?”
Q: If the effect of Mind Scan that was previously activated by declaring “Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter” is applying, and I activate the first effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter while my opponent has a Toon monster in the zone it points to, will the effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter be negated if my opponent applies the effect of Toon World the Perfect World when it resolves and banishes that Toon monster so that Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is no longer pointing to a monster?
A: The effect will be negated. If Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is not pointing to a monster after banishing with the effect of Toon World the Perfect World, its effect is negated.
“If the effect of a Toon monster is activated and the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World is applied, will that effect be negated by Destiny HERO – Plasma?”
Q: I activate the effect of Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon while its effects are negated by the effect of my opponent’s Destiny HERO – Plasma. When resolving that effect, if I apply the third effect of Toon World the Perfect World and banish that Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon, is its activated effect negated?
A: The effect is not negated. (This is because, by leaving the field during the resolution of its effect, Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon is no longer affected by the effect of Destiny HERO – Plasma.)
Similarly, if the following effects are applying, and the effect of Toon World the Perfect World is used to banish Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon when its effect resolves, that activated effect will not be negated:
– Skill Drain
– Nekroz of Unicore
– The Bystial Alba Los
– Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord
– Predaplant Dragostapelia
“If I activate GMX Applied Experiment #55 and Fusion Summon Evolved Daneen or GMX – COMPREX, can I activate the effects of Evolved Daneen or GMX – COMPREX that activate if I excavate a card by a “GMX” card effect?”
Q: If I activate GMX Applied Experiment #55 and excavate cards to Fusion Summon Evolved Daneen or GMX – COMPREX, can I activate their effects that activate if I excavate a card by the effect of a “GMX” card?
A: No, you cannot. In order to activate the second effects of Evolved Daneen or GMX – COMPREX, they must already be in a location their effects can be activated from at the time a card is excavated from your Deck by the effect of “GMX” card, and must remain there until after the current Chain has finished resolving.
“Can I Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon during the same turn I activated R.B. Stage Landing?”
Q:
(A) If I activate R.B. Stage Landing (which states I cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck during the turn I activate the card, except Machine monsters with 1500 or less original ATK), and the activation was not negated, can I Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon that turn?
(B) If I Special Summoned Chimeratech Fortress Dragon this turn, and the Special Summon was not negated, can I activate R.B. Stage Landing?
A:
(A) Yes, you can.
(B) No, you cannot.
Since the ATK value printed on Chimeratech Fortress Dragon is 0, the fact that its original ATK will become 2000 or higher upon being Special Summoned will not prevent it from being Special Summoned from the Extra Deck.
If you have already Special Summoned Chimeratech Fortress Dragon from the Extra Deck, you are considered to have Special Summoned a monster with an original ATK of 2000 or higher, so you cannot activate R.B. Stage Landing that turn. (However, if Chimeratech Fortress Dragon is Special Summoned while the effects of Skill Drain or your opponent’s Destiny HERO – Plasma are applying, its ATK becomes 0, meaning you are able to activate R.B. Stage Landing in that case.)
The same applies when Special Summoning the following monsters during the turn R.B. Stage Landing was activated:
– Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon
