K9
There are mutants in this world who have awakened their superpowers. They use those powers to fight each other and break the law in outrageous ways. This group fights against them and brings them to justice. They possess these superpowers as well.
The military police organization in this world splits and specializes according to various missions, and the squadron in charge of maintaining peace, “KEEPER”, is further divided into smaller squadrons, from K1 to K8. However, due to the overwhelming amount of mutant crimes surpassing the organization’s current structure, KEEPER secretly planned their own “mutant squadron specializing in mutant crimes”. Thus, after concealing the initial complications, more than 10 years later since it was initially proposed, it was formally established as the “K9” squadron.
==K9-17==
One of the commanders of the newly-established squadron, K9. She wields a superpower like that of the whirlwind mononoke spoken of in distant lands, which gave her the code name of “Izuna”. Her disposition is the very embodiment of diligence and honesty, but consequently, this often backfires during operations when she makes conservative decisions due to her cautiousness, with plenty of cases where this obstructed cooperation with her squadron.

K9-17 Izuna
There are restrictions on the superpowers of the squadron members, and unless they get the approval from KEEPER, they are only able to unleash a fraction of their power. This is in order to prevent the rampage and loss of humanity resulting from normalizing the superpower unleashing. Furthermore, the squadron members are mandated to wear restraints modeled as a uniform. Izuna’s unleashed form is registered under the name “Ripper”, with a ripping superpower consisting of extremely sharp bio-blades on both arms.

K9-17 “Ripper”
There is a transformation that the “Kamaitachi” mutant Izuna reaches as a result of unleashing her power during a mission up to the limit, to the level where she cannot return to normal of her own will. From this, a new truth was discovered: The origin of Izuna’s superpower is the “Sennen’itachi”…in other words, the legendary yokai “Raijuu”, and the power of the “Kamaitachi” was only a fraction of it.

K9-X “Ripper/M”
==K9-04==
A member of K9. An expert in onmyoudou, similar to an ancient scientist, who also has the superpower of a bakegitsune. Originally a member of KEEPER HQ, it was relocated to Izuna’s squadron along with Jokul and Lantern. However, because it has the capacity to disregard this association out of convenience, it can act out of his own accord. This results in it often being in confrontations with the contradictory behavior resulting from Jokul and Lantern forcibly unleashing their powers versus Izuna’s conservative policy of careful observation.

TL notes:
-The “whirlwind mononoke” mentioned in Inzuna’s description is the Kamaitachi, called “Izuna” in some regions.
-“Sennen’itachi” is another name for the yokai “Raijuu“.
-The “/M” in the Japanese name for K9-X “Ripper/M” is force-read as “Millennia”. The relationship with “sennen’itachi” is likely because the yokai’s name means “millennium itachi”.
-“Onmyoudou” is a form of esoteric cosmology.
-A “bakegitsune” is a kitsune (fox yokai) with the ability to shapeshift.
==K9-66a/b==
Mutants with the code names of the monster of frost and the devil of fire. They are isomorphic mutants designed by KEEPER HQ, and the mutual support of their superpowers is necessary both during their human social activities and during operations in order for them to remain stable.

K9-66a Jokul

K9-66b Lantern
Jokul and Lantern were designed so that they would have a particularly difficult time maintaining their body temperature and the temperature around them without each other’s superpowers. Therefore, they must unleash their superpowers at the same time. This decision does not come from themselves. Instead, an order to begin the experiment must be issued by KEEPER HQ, or by Noroi exercising his authority while monitoring the scene.

K9-EW Special Release Experiment

K9-66X “Jacks”
==K9-ØØ==
A mutant with the superpower of the legendary monster “Werewolf”. He’s an entity shrouded in mystery, formally related to the foundation of K9 with his record as the missing number ØØ (lost number), and at the same time, being included in the wanted list for K9. He keeps escaping the pursuit from KEEPER, while also having frequent encounters with the members of Izuna’s K9, interfering in the mutant crime scene as a vigilante. He wears a prototype restraint different from the official K9 uniform, and his unleashing is extremely powerful yet unstable.
