Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP, and this time the Lunalight archetype graces my channel with my take on one of the more competitive variants which mixes them with the Branded strategy. The Lunalight archetype consists of LIGHT and DARK Beast-Warrior monsters that enable the Fusion Summoning of big monsters, but none are bigger than Lunalight Liger Dancer. This Level 12 kahuna is unaffected by non-Lunalight card effects, can make a second attack each Battle Phase, and can send a Lunalight from the Extra Deck to the GY to destroy all of your opponent’s Special Summoned monsters, all of which make it quite a force. Now imagine making two of them, which is entirely possible… yeah, it’s scary. To enable that, Lunalight Gold Leo was the recently added starter that tutors a Lunalight monster then discards a card, which alone enables so many combos because the Lunalight theme has quite a few members that trigger off of being sent to the GY by card effect, such as Lunalight Silver Hound or Lunalight Yellow Marten.
Those are tails for another day though, as the theme for this deck is to make your opponent fight for every inch in the duel. Whether it is setting up a Liger Dancer backed by Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir or leveraging The Fallen & The Virtuous to destroy key options the opponent tries to put in your way, this deck can be hard to interrupt when it has so many avenues to get through Fusion combos. You see, Branded Fusion starts as a threat on its own, since it can send a Lunalight to the GY when Fusion Summoning Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon, and if your opponent stops that, Polymerization, Heavy Polymerization, Lunalight Fusion, and Lunalight Wolf offer 4 other ways to Fusion Summon your way to victory. And with the help of Lunalight Masquerade, you can even Fusion Summon using material from your GY with any of these Fusion Spells! Let Fusion have its hey-day with the Lunalight!
