R.B. Dominus Sky Striker [CDP] [Rogue]

    QuincymccoyBy QuincymccoyNovember 1, 20255 Comments

This may just be as good as it gets.

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, and today I’m covering what I think may just be the most optimized R.B. build there is, and this builds upon the initial skeleton covered in my last profile that combined R.B. with Sky Striker, so I suggest starting with that description to learn the basics: https://youtu.be/eSO0PMigL4o

Now that you’re back, let’s talk about why I think this build is so solid. First, this deck can succeed at going 1st and going 2nd, even before siding in/out. Why? Just about every card in the build helps you in one way or another. When going first, all the R.B. monsters help you setup your ideal endboard of R.B. Brute Blues, R.B. Shepherd’s Crook, a set R.B. Next Phase, and access to the 3 Quick Effect R.B. monsters of R.B. Lambda Blade, R.B. Ga10 Driller, and R.B. Ga10 Cutter. Also, remember that a single copy of Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! or Pillar of the Future – Cyanos can get you to that endboard. This combo also happens to give you additional LP, making it less likely for an opponent to steamroll you before you get a second turn. On the other hand, the Trap lineup of all of the Dominus Cards plus Infinite Impermanence gives you a ton of additional disruption – every one you draw just becomes another mine for your opponent to have to play through.

Now going second, running all of these Dominus cards may seem like a significant liability, but there’s one key element you may have missed about the R.B. cards – there isn’t a single monster effect across the whole theme that activates in the hand or GY. Not only is this an innate K9 counter, but it also means that Songs of the Dominators can be used without reducing your effectiveness. Then, with the tutoring effects of the R.B. Link monsters on a WIND and a FIRE, even if you have to use Dominus Impulse or Dominus Purge from the hand, you’ll still have a way to tutor into any card in your deck. This is amazing, and there really aren’t that many other decks that can lean on that win condition, especially not one that can OTK at the drop of a hat with a double attack from Brute Blues. Sure, it is true that Dominus Spiral could interfere with the Sky Striker engine, but does that truly matter if you return a key monster back to hand at the right moment? Anyways, if you think there’s further improvements here to be had, let me know – I’ve been using this IRL and would love to find further ways to optimize this build!

That list isn’t even remotely optimized. Cool build though.

So, few tips: Cut lambda blade. You really don’t need it going first.
I’ve grinded DB ladder with R.B. and not a single match have i ever felt like i needed lambda blade except post side.
It’s very solid in the side deck and ONLY in the side deck. Trust me, the handrip is just that strong (remember to pop whatever you summon with cutter though).
Every R.B. name is a 1 of or a 0 of (except the links). You don’t need 3 of cutter, driller, rocket or pile bunker.

Last stand is a side deck card. You’re never gonna need it going first

Typo’d, whatever you summon with LAMBDA CANNON*, not cutter. Anyways.

Cut both clockwork night and Operation test. You’re never gonna use those cards and they are really just bricks when you draw them. You want non engine and good cards, not horrible ones.

I also heavily dislike cyanos. I think the Mecha Phantom beasts (0-lion and tetherwolf. Reason: both are not once per turn. O-lion can give you an extra normal summon letting you extend if You’re playing into a board and draw multiples, tetherwolf is a solid starter that is protected while you control a token, so it’s better if you’re playing into mitsu boards. Both are 1 card starters.) & breakers are better than this build, but that’s up to you.
        I’ll link my list below.
Last thing, if you do play 0-lion, i suggest running dawn dragster. It’s kinda easy to make and oftentimes a strong card.

My list (top 100 on DB ladder with it atm): https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=18551887
