CDP: Vanquish Soul 2024, with Kashtira, Therion, Kaiju

    QuincymccoyBy QuincymccoyNovember 22, 20242 Comments

    CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTERS!!!

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Get into the Game with the Vanquish Soul, a theme of DARK, FIRE, and EARTH monsters that need to reveal a sequence of monster(s) with a specific Attributes to activate their effects, just like pressing the right combination of buttons in a fighting arcade game. For example, Vanquish Soul Razen tutors any other Vanquish Soul monster on summon, but once it’s on the field, it can reveal either a FIRE alone to protect itself from being destroyed by card effects or both a FIRE & DARK to destroy all other monsters in its column. On the boss monster front, Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger and Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius offer raw power and stats, each able to be Special Summoned from the hand by ‘tagging out’ a different Vanquish Soul monster you control to the hand. Borger offers additional advantages, revealing a DARK alone to draw a card or a FIRE & EARTH to inflict 1500 damage, while Valius can reveal all three Attributes to destroy any other card on the field. So if you need all of these other Attributes to enable their full potential, why not turn to themes that have them?

First up among the allies is the Kashtira, as Kashtira Fenrir is an EARTH that can tutor another copy of itself or Kashtira Risehreart, a FIRE monster. They’re also both accessible from the deck via the Field Spell, Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, giving you access to either (or both) attributes. Next up, the Therion offers a few different options to spice up your utility belt. Therion “King” Regulus is an EARTH Machine that offers an additional negation, Therion “Bull” Ain is a FIRE Warrior that can destroy a card on each field, and Therion Irregular is a DARK that can equip (and gain the effects of) both! The last allied theme is the Kaiju, offering both a FIRE and DARK to keep in hand until you need non-destruction removal to out an opponent’s boss monster. Oh, and did I mention I’m running plenty of hand traps as well with these Attributes, like Dimension Shifter and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring?

While all of what I’ve said are definitely key characteristics of this strategy, there is one element to this deck I have to highlight above all else: its ability to inflict damage. You can easily combine Borger’s effect with their in-theme Trap option of Vanquish Soul Snow Devil, inflicting 4800 with those two cards alone over your turn and the opponent’s if you have all 3 Attributes in-hand to reveal. You can also combine that with Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon, a R7NK that burns the opponent for 500 each card/effect they activate. This damage stacks up quick, and if your opponent doesn’t expect it, you can easily snatch victory before they even realize just how close to death they were. Get into the game with the Vanquish Soul, and dominate!

      Looks great,

You could add small world as extra support.

It is an option, but i feel like that’s not 100% worth it, when you want to maintain as much of a hand presence as possible to fuel VS efficiency. But it certainly would add more consistency.
