Showcasing builds significantly affected by the September 2024 F/L list!
Note: Both of the CDPs included in today’s post were designed, edited, and finalized prior to the reveal of the new September 2024 F/L list. Since they were complete and both were cool concepts, I decided to publish them over the final weekend for the format as a last hurrah. Don’t worry, more CDPs will come fully designed with the new list in mind. If you have a request given the new list, be sure to let me know in the Comments!
Build One: Altergeist Fiendsmith
On today’s episode of Fiendsmith pairs with anything…
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome to today’s CDP, and this time I’m showcasing a homebrewed deck concept crafted with the help of Dan that integrates the Fiendsmith cards into an Altergeist turn 1 combo. What makes this pairing tricky is that traditional Altergeist combos aims to trigger Altergeist Multifaker on the first turn, which happens to have a hard lock on the entire turn to summon only Altergeist monsters… but that clearly won’t stop me! Instead, this build aims to full combo off of Altergeist Meluseek, going through Altergeist Hexstia, Moon of the Closed Heaven, Constellar Ptolemy M7, Necroquip Princess, Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal… and ultimately ending up with a solid row of Altergeist backrow including Altergeist Emultatelf set from Silhouhatte Rabbit, a Multifaker in hand, a set Altergeist Revitalization ready to bring back a Hexstia, and any Normal Trap you desire from your Deck.
How is this possible? Well, Angel of Blue Tears is a really cool card, especially when sent to the GY by the effect of Beatrice. Because once it’s sent to the GY, you can utilize the burn effect of Fiendsmith’s Lacrima to trigger its GY effect, setting any Normal Trap from your deck for the next turn. Outside of this crazy combo, the deck does all the typical Altergeist things, from making opponents cry with endless Traps to making Altergiest Adminia, stealing their best monster, and watching it kill them… one attack at a time of course for maximum emotional damage. Combine Spellcasters and Fiends with this hybrid strategy, brought to you by modern card design!

Build Two: Armed Dragon Thunder Dragon Rulers
Let’s give Dragons a Super Rejuvenation!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP takes on the Armed Dragon Thunder series, in an attempt to put them back into the conversation as there is so much potential here. This theme reinvents the LV monsters, with each Armed Dragon able to send any monster from the hand to the GY to level up into an Armed Dragon up to 2 levels higher. Each also has another effect, as if any is sent to the GY to activate a Dragon monster’s effect, each will trigger to gain you some form of advantage. For example, Armed Dragon Thunder LV3 draws a card while Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 adds any Armed Dragon card. Ensuring that these effects trigger consistently falls to the job of Pile Armed Dragon, a Level 7 WIND Dragon that can Special Summon itself from the hand by sending a WIND or Level 7+ Dragon from the hand to the GY, then once it’s on the field, send an Armed Dragon from the Deck to the GY as cost to activate its other effect. You know what else triggers these effects? All of the baby Dragon Rulers.
The Dragon Rulers are a theme of Dragon monsters of various attributes, with babies that can discard themselves and another Dragon monster to Special Summon the corresponding Level 7 Dragon Ruler from the Deck. Once they’re out, these Dragon Rulers can be used as Link Material, Xyz Material, and just big bodies. Big bodies that can come back from the GY by banishing 2 other monsters of their Type or Attribute from the GY. The WIND one, Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, even synergizes especially well with the Armed Dragon monsters, as it can discard itself and any other WIND to tutor any Dragon monster from the Deck. For everything discarded, that’s where Super Rejuvenation comes in, as it will give you a draw for each and every Dragon Tributed or discarded during the turn, fueling your next turn for even more big plays.
Speaking of plays, let’s talk a little about what this deck can do. First, it works extremely well with Dragons of all shapes and sizes, from Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon to Koa’ki Meiru Drago. With the power of Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, you can even bring out some of these Dragons during the opponent’s combos to disrupt their plays. Second, it can run the Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack combo with Cyberse Link Monsters, ending up with Decode Talker Heatsoul, 2 EARTH monsters, and 1 WATER monster in the GY as an investment for future Dragon Ruler Summons. Lastly, the addition of Knight Armed Dragon, the Armored Knight Dragon with the recent Light and Darkness/Chazz Chaos Dragon support has given the Armed Dragon theme even easier access to other R7NK Xyz Monsters, from Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon to Blaze, Supreme Ruler of all Dragons.

Those were great builds but its unfortunate that the banlist makes those strategies less viable (Beatrice and lacrima are banned)
(So is apollousa)
Honestly, my take is that the new list probably makes the Armed Dragon one better with all the new Rulers! But I didn’t want to sit on releasing this as scheduled since it was designed with the old restrictions in mind.
for the first build, I’m surprised nobody here is takes advantage of Beatrice’s last effect. If she’s destroyed by your opponent, you can summon a Burning Abyss extra deck monster, ignoring summoning conditions.
Dante, Pilgrim of the Burning Abyss
– a 2800 atk monster that forces your opponent to discard if its destroyed, and if you include a couple of main deck burning abyss monsters, he lets you discard them to draw a card, which also lets you trigger those burning abyss graveyard effects
Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss
– a 2500 atk monster (matching Beatrice) that allows you to draw if he’s destroyed, and with a few main deck burning abyss monster, he can return those pesky opponent’s graveyard cards back to the deck
Bruh can we at least get a screenshot? (maybe also a word file if you’re feelin generous).
