Tying together Lost World, Magelleancia and… Early Wyrm lore?
Note:
We previously called this theme “Longhua” which is the Chinese reading of the characters for Ryuuge, unsure of the exact name concept, but aware it was themed on “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” due to three factions warring to become the top dog. With further information we decided to go with a much clearer name, aware of the concepts Konami was likely trying to convey.
We went with Apodrakosis to reflect the theme’s name is a play on 昇華 (Sublimation/Ascension). Basically Apotheosis + Draco, as the theme concept introduced by Konami on Yu-Gi-Oh!.jp explained it as things that are dragon-like ascending to being an outright Dragon.
Notably China heavily connects the Emperor to a Dragon, which explains why it’s ‘dragon-like’ things that aren’t quite dragons, as they have not taken the ‘throne’.
Each Main Deck Monster uses its Type Name and a word that has the Chinese word for Dragon as a part of its radical (a portion of the character in question).
As well, Touryuumon refers to an act of Ascension/Glorification/Rising Higher.

These are probably the most generic and most boring monster designs I ever seen.
The boss monster looks like a mix between Constellar Ptolemy M7, Metaphys Tyrant Dragon and a Pegasus.
Garbage take.
How do you get such a bad take?
Nah dude that’s just you
Stinky garbage take
Based take. They’re generic and boring.
Who has wrong opinions at 1 am?
Justin Jones: “OH BOY 1 AM!”
Wrong
then i’m must be the only sane one because these are the only good cards normal format released in years
yes thank you
I think he’s just upset it isn’t another underage girl with watermelons archetype
Projecting much jimmy boy? Anyways, they do look generic and boring, almost like re-used desings from different archetypes
These are probably the most interesting and exciting monster designs I have ever seen.
Finally, a break from the constant anime nonsense.
Thought it was called Longuha
It was, then they changed it after seeing the full archetype
Look, stop talking about how bad they are and appreciate that we get new stuff. I like it tho.
Finally, another Ritual Pendulum
I like this deck. The field Spell, QP and Ritual are pretty insane in their own ways despite the deck as a whole being just decent. I wonder what the last card will be🙂
Probably a trap going by numbers
Despite what is someone saying in the comments, I really like this archetype, both in design and gameplay, I think it is way better than Raizeol… But I do think that Raizeol is way stronger than this, at least in this first wave (or that is my impression):
Cool. Searchable D-Fissure.
Searchable D-Fissure that comes with a free, recurring 3k beatstick.
Too bad it cannot banish spell or traps that activate in the grave
I was like “oh these all have different summoning conditions, this deck could be really interesting” and then the Field Spell just cheats them all out.
Speaking of the Field Spell, it seems like a huge choke point for the Deck’s Main Combo.
But worst of all…
This isn’t Mokey Mokey Support…
Deck Build Pack
Earth Ritual deck: X
WATER Ritual deck: X
WIND Ritual deck: 1/2 (Nephthys)
FIRE Ritual deck: 1/2 (Nephthys)
LIGHT Ritual deck: 3 (Drytron, Mikanko, Apodrakosis)
DARK Ritual deck: 1 (Nouvelle)
Do we count the Booster Special Pack? If yes, then technically Nekroz is a WATER Ritual Deck
Calling this and Mikanko LIGHT decks is disingenuous…
Windzy, I wasn’t counting Booster Specials. But having to reach back to a set from 10 years ago is telling in itself.
Regiruler, please tell me all about the non-LIGHT Ritual monsters in the Mikanko archetype.
I wonder why it’s a ritual monster in the first place. Eh at least now I can search for this in a Volvo deck
so it uses itself to summon itself without an effect that summons itself, rather than using the “Apodrakosis Ascension Crest of Transmigration” ritual card?
I think you might have an error there on that ritual monster
I recommend reading the cards again.
reread it… nevermind
Its called modern card design.🤦♂️
What do you think its support will be? A Rank 10 Scale 11 Pendulum Xyz Dragon that can grab the Spells feels like the cleanest fit, but just writing that out makes me feel like that’s just CaC-esque wishful thinking.
Under no circumstances can Guangba be pendulum summoned; it says so on its own text. It’s hard to tell if this is a case where the archetype will have only the ONE Pendulum, or if they’re going to make more later. It’s scale is arbitrarily 0, kinda like how Qliphort’s low scale is arbitrarily 1 (unless the archetype is intentionally designed around Mischief of the Gnomes).
A high scale could be neat, but usually anything scale 9 or higher has some unnegateble restriction to its pendulum effect, has other effect(s) or requirements to effectively come to the same result (such as tying to an archetype of some form of tribal lock), or it’s an (actually kinda hard to summon) extra deck pendulum monster (not to mention that you need to go through extra hoops to put it in the Pendulum Zone).
Conflicting with this being a deck with complete scales is the fact that it’s based around using several continuous spells at once, and Guangba actively wants to remove itself from the Pendulum Zone.
For Scale 11, I was thinking more along the lines of having a way to dump extra copies of the Main Deck ones on the field if another Level 10 body is more important than one of the Spells. The deck looks like it’ll lean pretty heavily on Guangba -> Transmigration (while the Main Deck ones are pretty easy to get out with their related types, in-archetype it looks like they won’t play with each other as well until you build some steam), so I figured a Rank 10 would just be a combo piece to follow that. Like
1: Guangba searches Transmigration
2: Transmigration preps and summons the 3 Main Deck ones (plus Dinocrag)
3: 2 of the Main Deck ones are used to Xyz Summon Theoretical Support Dragon
4: Theoretical Support Dragon has some effect to pop itself, putting itself in the Pendulum Zone and triggering Guangba’s summoning effect by tributing the remaining Main Deck one
5: Guangaba can pop any two of Dinocrag, Transmigration, and Theoretical Support Dragon to grab Serpentfall and Wyrmhaze
Kaiba is a Dinosaur?
so they kinda have a synergy with their respective type like generaider.
I love the design of these cards, there isn’t a bad card in the pile and they all work in tandem with one another. They also play nice with a good amount of existing cards.
That field spell is cracked and it pairs amazing with Kaitoptera/Horned Saurus. The build should mostly focus on Dinos, but there’s a lot of ways you could build this one out. Very excited to cook with this one.
Wee woo wee woo, Archnemeses Protos reprint detected. (Greasy neme boy aside, these look like really fun cards, and I love that you can slot them into other decks because of their type and attribute relevant mechanics).
Perhaps the inspiration is not only linked to China but also to the 3 beasts of the Jewish religion: the Behemoth, the Leviathan and the Ziz, which are also the inspirations for Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza in Pokemon.
funny that the boss looks like Arceus, but the mini-bosses are not Palkia, Dialga or Giratina, but the previous gen legendary trio instead
It’s a unique deck for sure. Besides the generic applications in Mermail and Dino there are some good things about it already. It has a few good searchers, an easy to tech gimmick and an insanely strong field spell. Said field spell is also it’s biggest choke point though. Also it’s rough that the last continuous spell has negative synergy with the decks boss monster as you don’t want to banish it. Banishing the others isn’t too bad, but losing the ritual sets you back by a lot.
Additionally there is the issue of “where the hell do I get the cards to pop from?” which the deck itself right now doesn’t answer. If you don’t have the field spell, you won’t get to use the boss monster efficiently. Still, it has potential to become a grindy control deck, the last card as well as further support just have to pluck some holes. They did it with Memento, so this shouldn’t be a problem.
At least it only happens when in opp turn, but a searchable dim fissure is really good
I imagine they either expect you to pop your own field spell with Dinocrag or wait until the opponent’s turn to use varudras.
Dino pile with Dinocrag gets a monster negate while one of the level 10 dinos from Transcendrake/UCT is out
Wyrms get a bounce with Wyrmhaze which works with Chengying and Protos, which I have a feeling will be getting reprinted in this Pack, since it also works with the different elements.
At the moment, no other Lv 10 + Sea Serpents of note to take advantage of Serpentfall
Am I the only one thinks that this archtype is EXTREMELY restricted. Other then that it’s peculiarly interesting
Splashable with agave dragon
Deck doesn’t look all that good tbh. Card designs look great tho. You can obviously tell this is a floodgate spam deck. TCOBO and skill drain come to mind. Might be a little hard to include the floodgates because they need to share space with the in-archetype cont spells tho.
Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times Can benefit too
Imagine if they had these in opposite order. One sends itself to the GY and can summon itself from the GY, one banishes itself and summons itself from banishment, and Kuaiba shuffles itself back into the deck…
Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza. ft. Arceus.
My thiughts exactly lol
exactly, funny that their effects also somewhat reflects the trio Abilities to change the weather by searching specific card
They are actually based on biblical creatures, The Behemoth, The Leviathan, and the Ziz, and the boss monster is based on God himself
Either in this swt or in some future main set we will get a PS-11 Ritual Pendulum.
I’m glad Konami haven’t forgotten Flowerdino, Yamatoko Orochi and Al-Lumi’raj.
*Yamatako Orochi
Destroy and ritual mechanics + a pendulum. This is obviously made to dominate.
Not to mention the indirect Dino support they get by default.
Sick of overpowered cr4p like this. This is why the game isn’t fun anymore.
Kujaku-Jaku, this deck is not that good. As far as I can tell the best they can get off a one card combo is five interruptions with 0 follow up which crumbles pretty hard if you hit the field spell. Also the deck doesn’t do any pendulum stuff. He literally cannot be pendulum summoned and the deck doesn’t have a low scale to summon out your other monsters either.
Its all fun and games until the field spell search protos/echatos
so instead of Palkia, Dialga and Giratina serving Arceus…we have Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza instead
Too reliant on the Continuous Spells and needing specific monsters on board so meh
Next week should feature Malice
Yuanba LITERALLY looks like an AI art, it’s unreal
Overall I think a realy cool and well designed deck, my only problem is that the field spell is completely broken, they did need another consistancy card but the field spell is a little too good in my opinion.
I think you may have overcooked with the prototype localization
Could work in Voiceless. Starforge is searchable via Saffira and skull guardian. Summon SG add starfrorge, starforge for field spell, field spell first effect, add Dino to hand, serpent to grave, and Baba to banish, summon serpent for links if you want, shuffle Dino for his gate, field spell second effect to summon Dino from deck , serpent from grave, and Baba from banish, use Baba and serpent for Varudras. Then go wild. Varudras is an Omni and two non target pops technically, one if you choose to additionally attach at resolution of the omni and the other when you pop it with starforge. Dino can either be pop a minimum of 4 at the same time, or an on field monster activation negate. When a card is destroyed, tribute Dino for starforge then pop Varudras for the non target pop and place back Dino gate for another on field monster activation negate, that’s disregarding any Voiceless plays. Perhaps one of each level 10, 2 of star forge 2 field spell, one Dinogate. I don’t know about the quick play, you could also play the wyrmgate, only true brick is now the serpent and it can just be used as tribute fodder for Voiceless using Saffira. The big cope is here folks, I’m about half certain this won’t work and I’m missing some sort of crucial detail.
At this point Pendulums are just continuous spells with extra benefits (becoming a body on the field when needed)
As they always should have been
That was the point of the mechanics from its conception? I don’t understand what your point is and please don’t start with the generic complaints
Deck for “ryuu”
Who dont know, in japanese, sea serpent, dinosaur and wyrm have “ryuu” in name
Is because this have so many cards for they together
I don’t think anyone knows, as in what you’re on about. They all share Ryu bc they’re all closely related in some way or another to dragons.
Ryu is Dragon
In OCG sea serpent is sea dragon so it’s Kairyu
Dinosaur is Kyoryu meaning Fearful Dragon
Wyrm is genryu meaning Phantom Dragon
Standard toybel comment right there. Clueless.
Deck looks fun. That’s all I care about.
Tactical Masters is the last Yu-Gi-Oh! Peak designs, and no products can top it. My favorite is still DBGI, but there is no eye candy anymore for such a theme that is better than the last one.
Design is meh… BUT the effect is more boring.. also thanks for the restriction on this trash deck builder, and not giving any to your Booster Core
Hmm interesting. So the Ritual Monster Ritual Summons itself? Finally something broken LOL.
Ritual Summoning from the ED is also a thing. I was actually thinking about something like this, but its nice to see, that Konami isn’t yet out of ideas.
Modern era Generaider. Generaider was already a deck I liked casually and I really like the art and themes of these dragons so I’m hopeful the remaining card(s) round out the deck well
Another floodgate. Thanks, John Konami.
Anytime bruv
I’ll build it, f it lol
I like the concept of the deck BUT it’s way too restrictive with all the effects being hard once per turns on the 10s AND needing the spells for effects.
Neat gimmick, but I don’t see this being a decent deck when put together.
The Serpentfall cards I can see being splashed into Atlantean/Water decks. The monster is easiest one to bring out in that deck and honestly has the best effects.
Starforge into the field spell alone is just nutty and there’s plenty of ritual monster searchers to set that up.
Has no one noticed that the field can search any monster of the listed types, not just archetype monsters? There is a lot of potential in searching any Wyrm and puting any dino and sea serpent. Search Protos, banish Kytoptera, send idk for Sea serpent, but whatever it is can just be banished for Protos.
It took me like 5 minutes to even realize what Guangba is supposed to be since it seems like Konami just combined 20 boss monsters from different archetypes together.
I realise this is petty, but I’m a bit sad it’s another ‘competing factions that all work together in the same archetype’ kinda thing. I feel like it’s been done to death with Kozmo, Ancient Warriors, Live Twin, and to some extent Branded, and overall feels like a flavour miss.
That being said, these cards are also playable generically in a Type-focused deck, so it’s still cool.
Why is this article not under TCG/OCG news? I almost missed this.
something tells me that the order of release of the archetypes in Deck Build Packs is entirely related to the perceived interest in said archetypes
Raizeol seemed to have gotten the least interest, so went first. MVLICE seems to have garnered the most interest, and thus is going last, leaving Apodrakosis as the one in the middle
