An Illusion Type Deck, pre-ROTA support.

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP, this time featuring the Illusion Type in the fifth and final Type-centric profile of the month. This was a request to build an Illusion deck out of the non-Chimera cards, and while it was a tough order, I think there’s enough here for a decent deck concept. Almost all of the Illusion monsters released to date have a really cool effect: If they battle a monster, neither can be destroyed by battle. As a result, I wanted to build around that concept by incorporating Spirit Barrier, a card that reduces all battle damage to you to zero for battles involving your monster. This forces the opponent to look to other forms of removal to get over your board, opening them to disruption via Infinite Impermanence, Silhouhatte, Sinful Spoils of Slumber – Morrian, or even Sinful Spoils of Doom – Rciela. My personal favorite interaction here is to abuse this with Mokomoko, a Level 1 Illusion that draws a card when flipped face-up, in addition to carrying an effect to flip itself face-down. I love that combined with its anti-battle effect, it’s basically become a modern version of Des Lacooda, giving you an additional draw each turn until the opponent spends some resource getting it off your field.
As for the rest of the deck, the name of the game is consistent power. Whether it is WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils and Diabellstar the Black Witch to leveraging Sinful Spoils Subdual and Diabellze the Original Sinkeeper, you have options for getting easy big monsters to the field. Combine that with Nightmare Apprentice, which grabs any Illusion monster on summon, and you’ll quickly build out an array of threats. My favorite was to incorporate the TCG World Premiere Illusion, Vouiburial, the Dragon Undertaker, as it carries 3000 ATK and is easily Special Summoned from the hand whenever a monster the opponent controls is sent to the GY. Once it’s on the field, if another monster leaves the opponent’s field, it can make an opponent’s monster lose 1500 ATK, and if it has less than that, destroy it. The other ‘hand trap’ available to the theme is Emissary from the House of Wax, a FIRE Illusion that can Special Summon itself from the hand when an opponent’s monster declares an attack, then at the end of the Battle Phase, it prevents your opponent’s Attack Position monsters from being used as Material, plus their effect(s) are negated! This allows you to build a board of your own and find the best way to repeatedly attack an opponent’s monster until their LP are beat into submission. I hope you enjoy this Illusion-Type deck and catch you next time with one final, super cool profile for the month!

Wow!
…
Who are you? Leave me alone! ⬆️
People appreciate this but not the HD arts?
Clueless
I mean, are you dumb or a troll?
One is an actual article with actual content. The other is AI-“enhanced” slop with no value. Obviously every reasonable person will know which is better.
Comment section on this website was a mistake.
Hi there! This one is definitely one of my more casual builds, but it was an explicit request from folks to see. So hopefully, you’ll enjoy some of the other content I make better than this build!
Completely unrelated, but u can use fiendsmith with angel of blue tears to search judgement of the pharaoh, then use Beatrice on opp turn to send unity or yu-jo, allowing u to lock them out of summoning or using spell/traps for their turn.
Without even using a normal summon, and is possible in multiple one card combos.
I’m surprised that most big yugitubers haven’t noticed this.
There’s a lot of things that Beatrice can dump, but that requires you to use multiple completely dead draws just to pull off a combo. Even though the fiendsmith engine is strong, it’s not strong enough to carry that much. Also, I’m in the camp that expects Beatrice to be going for a bit of a nap, just due to some of the more problematic interactions: the TCG has never been trusted with generic millers
