    (1) You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by discarding 1 card.
    (2) If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 Illusion monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Nightmare Apprentice”.
    (3) If this card battles a monster, neither can be destroyed by that battle.

      The DMG harem grows ever larger. For those keeping score, we have:

      DMG and her variants like Dragon Knight and Toon
      Valkyria
      Gagaga Girl
      Magi Magi
      The Magician Girl archetype
      Apprentice Illusion Magician
      Palladium Oracle Mana

      And to an extent Card Ejector and Seven Roads Magician

        Except this is literally specifically an Apprentice Illusion Magician card, not BMG, so you would create a sub category under AIM or just an entire new chart focused on AIM since more cards are possible to release now. She has the same discard/special summon effect and normal/special summon then add to hand (unlike AIM being made to add Black Magician, she adds ALL Illusions) effect. Then the 3rd effect is battle related. In that order.

      I’m looking forward to seeing more generic Illusion support. A deck of them not tied to any other archetype could be very interesting!

      They just casually drop a a type searcher for a relatively new type with no level restriction that special summons itself.

        Why would you be surprised when Illusions come from the source manga. In the manga, Black Magician’s card artwork hides his face. In relation to modern Konami cards, Magician of Black Illusion, which released in April 2016, only shows his eyes while the face is covered in shadow. Apprentice Illusion Magician, released later that year, and shows her face. Apprentice Illusion Magician doesn’t specifically support Black Illusion because she adds Black Magician to her hand instead. Nightmare Apprentice doesn’t specifically support Nightmare Magician because she adds ALL Illusions to her hand.

        Quite clear what Konami card makers did here.

        And before someone tries to add, I know Nightmare Magician is created from Yami Yugi and Pegasus timer duel when Pegasus gains control of it with his Illusion card through battle and attacks Yami Yugi, which is where the 2500 atk stat comes from.

      I like the idea of them making Illusion versions of monsters that Yugi used. I hope we get a generic Illusion Kuriboh, an Illusion Archfiend, and an Illusion Swordsman.

      You know, it’s cool she has the same statline as DMG but it just makes it weirder that Nightmare Magician has the 2500/2000 statline instead of DM’s 2500/2100. That seems like a weird oversight unlike even a DM-expy isn’t allowed to match the original, I suppose.

        Black Magician’s bandai OCG card is 2000 def. We saw from Neos having 2500/2000 and the other MC’s that they won’t match BM’s defense 2100 and would settle for 2000. Not a surprise. We have multiple explanations.

        Also, Nightmare Apprentice is taken from Apprentice Illusion Magician (Released after Magician of Black Illusion), not specifically BMG.

      I’m sorry, but given the design of her “wand” and her status as an illusion monster, I’m guessing her attacks are akin to hardlight projections: a whip, a mallet/hammer, etc

      I love that we’re getting such strong Illusion support right off the bat but I hope it doesn’t limit their card design choices in the future. They HAVE to release some Pegasus retrains down the line.
