There’s natural synergy in EARTH monsters.

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, this time featuring the X-Saber for the very first time on my channel. That’s right, I FINALLY FOUND A SOMEWHAT STABLE BUILD. Thanks for your patience as I got this out – I’ve intended to make X-Saber for the past 13 months, and I just could never land on a stable build until this one.
Anyways, the X-Saber archetype consists of EARTH monsters of various types that are primarily designed to Synchro Summon. Their ace monster, XX-Saber Gottoms, may have been the first Synchro that could be summoned with all Tuners, but it’s a Level 9 that can tribute any X-Saber to discard a card from the opponent’s hand. While this effect can result in a hand-loop with the most optimal of hands, the modern games relies on a bit more consistency to win, and that’s where his support cards come in. Gottoms’ Emergency Call is up first, a Trap that can Special Summon 2 X-Saber monsters from the GY. Additionally, you also have Gottoms’ Second Call at your disposal, which lets you Special Summon 2 X-Saber monsters from your GY while you control an X-Saber Synchro. To enable this second call most effectively, I’ve deployed X-Saber Wayne and X-Saber Urbellum, as both are generic Synchro options, as well as XX-Saber Hyunlei, which destroys 3 S/T on the field on summon. To get to your Gottoms support cards, there’s also a support card for that – Saber Reflection. Far and away, this is the most unique part of the X-Saber theme today, as this Spell can wipe away any amount of battle or effect damage you take (as long as you still have some left), push that right back to the opponent, then tutor a Gottoms card!
Now that we’ve covered the high-level X-Saber theme, let’s talk about the EARTH support backing them up, and that is the Vernusylph archetype. This archetype consists of EARTH Fairy monsters that can discard themselves and another EARTH (or Vernusylph card), Special Summon an EARTH from your GY, and apply another effect. For example, Vernusylph of the Misting Seedlings gets to tutor any EARTH Fairy, or Vernusylph of the Thawing Mountains draws a card. This theme has two great Trap cards as well: in Vernusylph and the Changing Seasons which can Special Summon as many Vernusylph from the GY as possible, and in Vernusylph and the Flower Buds, which can mass bounce your opponent’s cards to the hand. You can even unlock Buds’ full potential with their Field Spell, Vernusylph in Full Bloom, which summons Vera the Verusylph Goddess directly from your deck!
Now you may be wondering how this synergy ends up working, and it all comes down to XX-Saber Ragigura. This Level 1 Beast-Warrior has a simple effect – recover an X-Saber on summon. In other words, every time you bring him back with a Vernusylph, Ragigura will recover a new EARTH monster to discard for the next Vernusylph. Ragigura also combos extremely well with XX-Saber Faultroll, as two copies of Faultroll can begin a loop of near-endless EARTH materials to use for Link Summoning boss monsters such as G Golem Dignified Trilithon, G Golem Invalid Dolmen, Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior, and more. Oh, and did I mention that since all these monsters are EARTH, you also get to run the Naturia Beast and Naturia Barkion Synchros as well? Yay! Hope you enjoy this display of the original EARTH Duel Terminal tribe, taking on the four seasons.

Have you considered Slifer Face Cards? Ken and Gen are a huge boon, and are LIGHT Warriors to boot.
I’ve done a number of profiles on the poker knights, but I haven’t revisited the concept since KenGen. I’ll look into it!
