    NeoArkadiaBy NeoArkadiaMarch 31, 2019No Comments

    A basic rundown of information.

Yu-Gi-Oh! DAY Information on Speed Dueling

The April 6th-7th Yu-Gi-Oh! Day will be foused on Speed Duels (Sealed or Constructed)

    Entry fee is $12.00.

Players must receive 8 “Arena of Lost Souls” packs.

First Place Winner at the end of Swiss receives an exclusive Playmat:

Top 8 of events get the following prize, an Ultra Rare “Draw of Destiny”.

In addition to the top prizing, stores should receive a PDF file containing printable images of the Speed Duel Skill Card Straight to the Grave (used by the Legendary Duelist Bonz). Stores should print out enough copies to provide one to each Duelist participating in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Day event. Duelists may use this Skill Card for the event. Duelists are not required to use a Skill Card if they choose not to. If a Duelist wishes to use another Skill Card they own (Speed Duel Constructed) of if they pull a Speed Duel Skill Card from their Sealed Pack product, they may use that Skill Card in place of the provided image.

The printable image of the Speed Duel Skill Card Straight to the Grave is only tournament legal for the April 2019 Yu-Gi-Oh! Day event.

With Regards to basic rules for Speed Duels:

    • Each Duelist begins the game with 4000 Life Points.
    • Each Duelist begins the game with four cards as their starting hand.
    • The Main Deck size is 20 to 30 cards.
    • The Extra Deck may have a maximum of five cards.
    • The Side Deck may have a maximum of five cards.
    • Each Duelist has one Skill Card.
    • Skill Card effects do not use the chain when initially activated. If a Skill Card is also a Spell or Trap Card and it is later returned to the hand, if it is played from the hand as a Spell Card or Trap Card, it will use the chain when activated.
    • Each Duelist has three Main Monster Zones, three Spell & Trap Zones, and one Field Zone.
    • The Duelist going first does not draw a card on their opening turn.
    • The hand size limit is six cards.
    • Each Duelist may have an active Field Spell Card.
    • Each Duelist may have a maximum of three copies of any card with the same name, in both the Main Deck and the Extra Deck.

Each player will have one Skill Card that they place near the Dueling field at the start of the Duel.

There is no Main Phase 2, so remember to set any Spells or Traps you want to use before you enter your Battle Phase!

    Constructed Deck Format
Constructed Decks for Speed Duel tournaments must meet specific guidelines for use in the event. Duelists must ensure that their Decks meet these requirements before entering an event. A Duelist’s Deck includes their Main Deck and may include a Side Deck and/or an Extra Deck.  In addition to the standard Speed Duel rules listed above, the following rules also apply to the constructed format.

    • A single Legendary Duelist is used for all Duels in the Match.
    • The Side Deck has a maximum of five (5) cards and may contain cards from the Main Deck, Extra Deck and Skill cards.
    • If a Duelist has Skill Cards in their Side Deck, they may change the Skill Card between Duels in the Match. The Skill Card must be for the Legendary Duelist their Deck is using.

Only cards released in Speed Duel products may be used in Constructed Speed Duels.

    Sealed Pack Format
Duelists in Sealed Pack format events will be provided with eight (8) Speed Duel: Arena of Lost Souls as part of their commensurate prizing, and they will construct their Tournament Decks from that product only.

In addition to the items provided as commensurate prizing, stores should receive a PDF file containing printable images of the Speed Duel Skill Card Straight to the Grave (used by the Legendary Duelist Bonz).

Sealed Pack events feature Decks that are constructed entirely of cards from product provided at the tournament. Duelists may not add in cards from any other source.

Duelists will utilize the eight (8) Speed Duel: Arena of Lost Souls packs provided as part of their registration along with the provided printed image of the Speed Duel Skill Card Straight to the Grave, and build a tournament legal Deck out of that product. Duelists may not trade the cards they received in the packs with other Duelists until the tournament is over, and they may not add cards they already own.

The rules for the Sealed Pack Yu-Gi-Oh! Daytournament is as follows:

    • Each Duelist is given eight (8) Speed Duel: Arena of Lost Souls packs upon registering for the event in addition to a printable image of the Speed Duel Skill Card Straight to the Grave (used by the Legendary Duelist Bonz).
    • Duelists should select which Legendary Duelist corresponds with their Deck. Only Skill Cards associated with that Legendary Duelist may be used during the Match. Once a Legendary Duelist has been selected for the event, the choice cannot be changed.
    • Round 1 should not begin until at least 20 minutes after the last person has registered, to allow time for the players to look over their cards and sleeve their cards, should they choose to do so, with tournament-legal sleeves.
    • Once the above steps are completed, the Duelists then will play against their first round opponent in a best 2-out of-3 match.

Q: What is the time limit for each Speed Duel Round for Yu-Gi-Oh! Day?

Each Yu-Gi-Oh! Day Swiss round will consist of a best 2-out-of-3 game Match, with a 25-minute time limit.
