Good Riddance.
Divine Relic Mjollnir is the only true Mjollnir
Is Yugioh good now
No it just got worse
Yes, no more of these oppressive floodgates
Colossus is not opressive ?
No it just gave a boost to the already broken top decks.
Man, you people are insufferable. How is Yu-Gi-Oh worse, if the top decks were the ones using these cards in the first place? How is banning floodgates that the best decks are playing… Helping those same decks? Or do you guys only play master duel/anime duels and don’t even know what the top decks are doing?
No, but it’s better.
@IcantwithyouYugiboomers Some are people just doompost about anything and some are meta player themselves.
Yugioh is unfixable now. Thx to money hungry OCG
Unban Savage before the new Rokket support comes to the TCG.
No. Not without an errata on its Materials.
Well it’s not ban in the OCG so that’s probably not gonna happen.
No, ban all rocket cards instead. Nothing good came out of VRAINS
Yes please!
Nah, Revolver using Mirror Force was peak
They built the new Fusion in a way that specifically lets the new Rokket support work without Savage, and with that in mind I don’t expect they’ll bring it back.
No. Hot take but every card post 5D’s that were banned should probably stay banned forever.
I’ll miss Dimensional Barrier in Labrynth, but I can’t protest too much, the card is pretty overbearing. Floodgates aren’t much fun to play or play in to. However, with current power creep, off meta and older strategies are going to be falling off more drastically since the meta is outpacing board clearing cards and the floodgates are getting banned. For ailing strategies, those are the main two options to try to eke out wins, and while the floodgates often deserve the hits, the increasingly layered boards and advantage newer decks have means that board breakers are also less effect too.
What are you talking about, the floodgates are literally one of the reasons boardbreakers are less effective that’s why garbage like Mjolnir and Fossil Dyna were played in the first place and cards like D. Barrier where set off of Thrust if you dared to hand trap them so your andy deck that has locks gets screwed over harder.
Your whole post is a contradiction
@Zzzz I’m not sure what you are talking about. When I say that board breakers are less effective due to power creep, that has nothing to do with board breakers being used against floodgates? I’m saying that board breakers like Dark Ruler and Lightning Storm aren’t as effective against strategies that now set up a layered interaction. I’ve hit Vanquish Soul with Dark Ruler many times, for example, but now that the strategy weaves in their trap and ends my turn with so many cards in hand, that card doesn’t do as much as it did when the strongest decks simply threw all their materials onto the field. Board breakers are actually great against barrier statues, since destroying or negating them perfectly removes them? I agree cards like Mjolnir create a floodgate that cannot be dealt with through any means, but that has nothing to do with what I was talking about, which is that the toolbox for older decks to try to get in wins is thinning currently.
The problem with Floodgates is that you can play them with the stupid multiple big monsters setup.
@FreeBagooska That’s true. Lots of them allow you to set up your board, and then turn off the game for your opponent. It’s not fun to play against because you essentially don’t get to play, but it’s also not that interesting to use. I never feel particularly proud or skilled setting and flipping a single trap or monster.
“Fun to play”
Play vs a negate board is fun to play ?
This must be an emergency ban. Cause I don’t remember them mentioning a banlist.
Emergency ban for floodgates? I’m cool with this. Bye, you won’t be missed.
to be honest, all of the barrier statues need to be banned.
And the horse you rode in on, Protoss
Explain to me how we are emergency banning anti-meta tools? God forbid someone wants to be able to stop the meta.
They are not “anti-meta” cards if the meta decks can easily use them. Dimensional Barrier was used by literally everyone, and Mjollnir was ONLY ever used by a meta deck
These “anti-meta tools” were being used by the meta, not just anti-meta. Which is almost always the case honestly.
These cards (and more tbh) were absolutely toxic to the game. Good riddance.
“anti meta tools”
How many times did your mother drop you on your head when you were a baby jeez.
K9 summons Mjollnir.
Mitsu summons the statues, fossil dyna, and Protos using Gallant Granite, or Infernal Flame Princess and Nemeses Flag. It also uses Ouroborous to handloop.
Literally every tournament meta deck has dimensional barrier in the side.
aaaand great now rogue decks don’t have tools to contend with the meta anymore
They never did, otherwise they wouldn’t be rouge. This is even more so true if they really needed cards that produce non-games to be playable at a minimum level in the format.
I usually only play rogue decks. These cards were not only used by rogue decks, most of them were abused by meta decks. Mjollnir was ONLY ever used by a meta deck. Dimensional Barrier was used by everyone. You can argue banning Moon of the Closed Sky hurt rogue decks more than meta decks, but if your rogue deck only won bc of dimensional barrier, your deck simply didn’t work
Love reading these comments of people complaining rogue won’t be able to beat meta anymore because the floodgates used by the meta deck got ban.
It reminds me of when Barrone, Savage and later Apo got banned. The exact same kinds of comments.
But how will my Malicevorous deck beat the meta sheep now?
Yeah. It’s so silly lol
Fr, it’s like. Cmon bro. Statue Stun wasn’t beating Yummy Mitsu. Cmon. You weren’t winning with those cards. If you were you’d be meta.
Heavy Storm still banned. 🙁
Why spare Barrier Statue of the Torrent
No clue why they didn’t all get banned if half of them did, clearly being special summon locked to a single attribute is banworthy enough.
You guys don’t have a single clue what the meta decks are playing and it shows LMAO
No you’re just an imbecile. I know mitsu variants play the other two. I also know that the other three states they aren’t playing are still extremely banworthy and should have all been taken out at once
Man just ban all Barrier Statues already
Was it really justified to outright ban ouroboros instead of limiting it? Also funny that other than the light and dark barrier statue, blue is still hanging out lol.
Limiting it does nothing when 1 copy was only ever played in any deck that played it.
Heraldic Ryzeal was copying its name and soft OPT effect and reviving it with material to get the hand rip multiple times off one copy.
The three barrier Statues that weren’t banned yet were spared because they don’t have rank 4s that can search them without using the normal summon so they can be placed on the board after full combo. The other three should have been just to box those situations out (and the light Dragon Ruler xyz still exists and can dump and revive any of the remaining ones with its effect copying as an example of an easy remaining method)
Lol Heraldic Ryzeal. No one was playing that after it became apparent it was ass.
They should just ban all the barrier statues for good measure.
Yeah, I hate how Konami does these half-measures. Banning just Stormwinds when the only concern was Floo cheating it out was fine. But now that the problem has become giving them to your opponent, it doesn’t really matter which color statue it is. If the meta shifts to where people aren’t playing many DARK, LIGHT, or WATER attributes, then the remaining statues become just as toxic as the ones currently banned.
They’ve only been banned because decks found a way to get them out consistently and create noticeable lockdowns. The other ones will eventually go. They just haven’t shown up enough yet to justify an easy hit. Stormwinds was the only one hit for a looooong time, after all.
Nooooo… Not my Dimensional Barrier!
Wait why Mjollnir if all it does is revive another Artifact? Scythe is banned so what’s the problem
It is a mandatory effect that locks you for the turn, and there is a monster that can summon it to your opponent’s field on their turn from your grave. So, you can summon lock your opponent using it.
@Ajax important functional distinction, Quinquery would summon Artifact Mjolnir to the opponent’s field on your own turn and the effect would trigger because it’s “your opponent’s turn” for your opponent and the effect locks the controller into artifacts until the end of their next turn because being xeno-locked on the opponent’s turn didn’t really do anything for Artifacts. that restriction was meant to be a balance for using Mjolnir yourself for the summon
The Mjolnir ban technically solves the problem but banning Quinquery might have been the better way to do this because just like with Albion the Sanctifire Dragon (which realistically should also be banned for the same reason) and Branded Expulsion (which is banned for this reason) the deeper problem is these cards that let you freely summon monsters to your opponents field that were balanced at the time around locking you into your own strategy or cutting off your further power plays in exchange for actually using them.
@Somnus Aw, yes, my mistake. And I agree that those cards are more of the problem, they do keep being used for very un-interactable locks. I get they don’t want to hit Albion, but every time my opponent has pulled it on me, I know I’m just not going to be able to use any cards unless I have a ghost belle or droplet in hand.
It can be summoned to opponent’s field by other card to floodgate them, like Gimmick Puppet nightmare.
Explain to me again, why was Protoss unbanned in the first place?
I think it was for Ritual beast, among some other things like Ryzeal
This list is so bad, unlike the Genesis format, which lets me play 1 Floodgate for 100,000 points. This is why we need to go back to the Dark Magician Girl format with 100-card decks, like any balanced game should be
The play Genesys list before it goes the way of every other official alt format by year’s end.
Any floodgate hit is a good hit
Half of CDIP is banned now it’s so cyberdover.
I won’t forgive how they handled Mist King and Fossil Dyna.
I wouldn’t bother with a ban list, you would just choose one of hundreds of pre-constructed unoptimized decks to use. It’s not like there’s much agency in deck building in actual practice anyway,
No more Ouroboros… but Laplacian is around…
