Is the Dominion too hot for you to handle?
Blazing Dominion kicked off on the market, and the buyouts started to roll out last week on plenty of cards, from Clown Crew Biancaviso getting cleared out on the North American market to cards finally seeing their worth, like Charmer Quartet in Bloom, and much more. Let’s dive into this week’s market watch with a blazing heart. To note, not everything in this article will be related to Blazing Dominion, but it’ll be packed with cool techs you can run in the brand-new format. This article will cover a few cards from Blazing Dominion, along with tech cards that have been seen over the past couple weekends, and maybe something to expect if you are participating in this weekend’s YCS in Columbus, Ohio.
Enter the Blazing King’s Dominion
There are plenty of cards from this set that have shocked the players in their price, and first up happens to be the most hyped card from Blazing Dominion itself, Fydraulis Harmonia. This newest Secret Rare monster from the set is a card that has lots of demand for how much power it holds within Synchro Decks. You can only activate this card from your hand when a monster your opponent controls activates their effect. You can reveal it and up to 5 other Synchro Monsters from your Extra Deck to apply all of the following effects depending on how many you reveal. By revealing 2 or more, you Special Summon Fydraulis Harmonia. By revealing 4 or more, you send 1 revealed Synchro Monster to the GY. And finally, by revealing 6, you destroy 1 monster your opponent controls. This card is used mainly in Kewl Tune, Branded Elfnote, Radiant Typhoon, and even in a couple of Mitsurugi lists. This card locks you out from using other Extra Deck monster effects, except Synchro Monsters, and it provides a Level 7 Synchro Monster, which Kewl Tune, Elfnote, and Mitsurugi can use extremely well. Some of the best cards you can run with this card are Wind Pegasus @Ignister, Golden Cloud Beast – Malong, and even Egnimaster Packbit for different styles of interruptions. Some lists can even use Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God, if they run a Level 4 non-Tuner, or Chaos Angel since this card is a LIGHT monster.
A tech that has appeared a handful of times that more players have been noticing is Dark Highlander. This is an older Synchro Monster used by Jack Atlas in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Manga as one of his many boss monsters. This monster is “The King of Divine Punishment,” and he prevents both players from Synchro Summoning, which completely locks out Kewl Tune, Elfnote, and Decks using Fallen of the White Dragon as a Synchro engine. It can be useful against DoomZ as well, as it can target 1 monster your opponent controls that is equipped with an equip card and destroy all cards equipped to that monster, and if you do, inflict 400 damage to your opponent for each card destroyed. In Decks like Elfnote, you can use the Fiend Elfnote Power Patron and either a Fiendsmith Engraver (if you run the Fiendsmith engine) or 1 Elfnote monster you control, as Theorealize’s GY effect can change its Type to Fiend to make this Synchro Summon possible. We could expect this card to show up at YCS Columbus, as some players have been testing it for their major events over the next few weeks.
Jack Atlas isn’t the only clown around town, as Clown Crew Biancaviso happens to have a high amount of sales due to the excitement around their very own Clown Crew theme. Players have been mixing the Deck with Mitsurugi, Solfachord, and even as a Pure theme itself. Being the face of the Deck, this card can be Tribute Summoned face-up by Tributing 1 Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link Monster, and if it is Tribute Summoned, you can activate 1 of these effects. You can either draw cards equal to the number of monsters tributed or negate the effects of face-up cards your opponent controls, equal to the number of monsters tributed. In addition to all this, you can use its final effect to quickly Tribute Summon 1 monster during the opponent’s Main Phase. This can let the player Tribute the opponent’s monsters to Tribute Summon The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode as a form of interruption (provided they have 3 monsters on their field).
With recent events that took place this weekend, Dominus Spark has spiked due to its involvement in the current Decks that are all LIGHT and DARK, like Branded, Orcust, and Maliss. This is mainly because almost everything in these Decks is LIGHT and DARK, plus it took a little for players to realize the power of this card. If your opponent activates a monster effect in the hand or GY, you can activate this card from your hand. By targeting 1 monster your opponent controls, you banish it, but if you have no Traps in your GY, they can Special Summon 1 monster from their hand afterwards. If you did activate this card from your hand, you cannot activate the effects of EARTH, WATER, FIRE, and WIND monsters for the rest of that Duel. I’ve personally paired this card with Infinite Impermanence and Dominus Impulse for the most impact to always have Trap Cards in my GY before activating this card and using Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Mulcharmy Fuwalos before activating either Dominus Traps in many lists.
This new format is full of mysteries as players test and finalize their lists for the future of the game as we await what is releasing in the next few months from Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery, Chaos Origins, and Magnificent Monsters.
Techs For New Decks And Current Decks
With the Fairy Tail support taking off, players are mixing it with the Magistus cards that were released over the past years. Spenta, the Magistus Sealer, everyone’s favorite Spoon Sealer, has gone up in price because of this, as it is a card that can start your combos. By discarding this card, you can either add 1 Magistus monster from your Deck to your hand or halve the ATK of 1 monster your opponent controls until the end of that turn. This card can also banish itself from the GY to equip 1 Magistus monster from your Extra Deck or GY to 1 face-up monster you control as an Equip Spell. Searching for either Zoroa, the Magistus Flame, or Crowley, the Gifted Magistus, to start your plays is extremely great, and both work super well with the new Teller of the Fairy Tail Fusion Monster and Fairy Tail – Wiccat Xyz Monster to advance your plays, as they require Spellcaster monsters to be Summoned properly.
We’re back to talking about Alchemic Magician, all because of this Spellcaster hype. Players finally snagged their copies off the market, causing the price to rise drastically. It requires 3 Spellcasters as Xyz Material, and this card has a big payoff during the End Phase, as you can detach 1 material from it and send 1 card from your hand to the GY to choose and Set 1 Spell from your Deck. This gives you access to Demise of the Land, which in turn lets you activate Secret Village of the Spellcasters directly from the Deck. You can even Set Super Polymerization for a great piece of interruption on your opponent’s turn. This card also gains 200 ATK for each Spell in your GY, which can help greatly at keeping it alive for another turn or so.
Finally, a card that everyone should have in their collection, just in case of needed applications in the future, is Charmer Quarter in Bloom. This brand-new Link-4 monster is completely generic, as it only needs 2 or more monsters as Link Material, and it gains 300 ATK for each different Attribute on the field. Much like a prior format, this card can only use its effect once while it is face-up on the field, as it can Special Summon 2 monsters, with the same Type but different Attributes, or with the same Attribute but different Types, from your GY, but they cannot be used for a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Summon until the end of the turn. This effect can be reset if it is paired with S:P Little Knight, much like Baronne de Fleur in 2024 during Snake-Eye format, which can be detrimental after the 2nd turn. This can also be useful for Summoning back I:P Masquerena and S:P Little Knight if you need additional forms of interruption during your opponent’s turn as well.
With the new Forbidden & Limited list in effect this past Monday and this weekend in YCS Columbus, Ohio, the format is a little unknown, with Kewl Tune, DoomZ, and Branded all on the top of the list of Decks to beat. Even if many players are shifting off of Kewl Tune for other Decks due to players siding with extreme hate for it, like Soundproofed, Gravity Collapse, and Heat Wave. Others are shifting off the Deck from not being fun to play with or against. It’ll be interesting to see what will win the event, but Branded might be the Deck that will win it all, even with a single Branded Fusion again.
