Yummy Unleashed; Fun Tech Options [CDP]

    QuincymccoyBy QuincymccoyNovember 8, 20252 Comments

    Let’s experiment with Yummy!

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Welcome back for another CDP, and today I’m doing something a bit different – I want to showcase a whole bunch of different tech options for the Yummy deck, showcase what pure Yummy can do despite the increasing popularity of Yummy hybrid variants, and maybe inspire you to try out something new. Before getting into the techs – if you don’t know, the Yummy archetype consists of Level 1 monsters that can leverage LINK-1 monsters as a Tuner for a Synchro Summon. Yummy★Snatchy is the leader here, a LINK-1 that grants access to either of the theme’s Field Spells straight from the deck. While Yummyusement★Acroquey is mainly used for its ability to destroy a card your opponent controls when you Synchro Summon, Yummyusement★Mignon is used to close out duels by giving your little Yummy monsters oodles of ATK points!

Now the first major tech stream in this builds upon the Field Spells, and it’s led by Cosmo Queen the Queen of Prayers. This Level 8 monster can destroy a card in your Field Zone and tutor a new Field Spell. In this build, this lets you swap it out for a Field Spell that draws, such as Chicken Game or Fairy Tale Prologue: Journey’s Dawn. Now that Yummy☆Marshmao exists, this isn’t as much of a risk, as you’ll have a second way to place a Yummy Field onto the board during the opponent’s turn, if your Snatchy gets interrupted. The other primary tech engine revolves around Sangan, an innocuous Level 3 monster that tutors something with 1500 or less ATK when sent from the Field to the GY. Why Sangan? It’s a great Normal Summon for sure, since it can turn into the LINK-1 Salamangreat Almiraj and tutor you a Yummy monster you may have been seeking. Or, you can simply use it to grab from an assortment of your favorite Hand Traps. For going 2nd, I’ve even included a copy of Santa Claws to out an opponent’s threat – plenty of options to choose from.

The last tech option I want to spotlight is the newest card for the Yummy theme coming out in BUPO: Assist★Yummy (YGOrg Translation). I’ve seen a lot of negative comments on this Trap, as it doesn’t fit as neatly into the Yummy gameplan as the final cards for the K9 and Dracotail themes, but this gives the deck yet another easily searchable disruption option. Sure, you have to send another Yummy card to the GY to use it, but that is truly nothing in the grand scheme of things if it buys you another turn to go for game with a big sweep. Add that to the bounce offered by Yummy★Surprise and the flips offered by Cooky★Yummy Way, and you have yourself quite a few in-theme disruption options to add to your Herald of the Arc Light and all the generic handtraps at your disposal. Unleash a Snack, with the Yummy!

Just curious – what made you decide to tech in Beaufort IX?

Hi! Included it as a Ritual to search off of Herald that can stall for an extra turn if your t1 endboard is broken. Magician of Chaos is another option with Magicians Souls, since it is a natural Yummy extender, but I’ve always felt that is a bit winmore, since you dont want just another extender if your board is broken.
