Creative Deck Profile: Cycle of Destruction, Tales of the Yang Zing

Strategic Summary:

Today’s profile centers around an archetype that has been requested many times recently – the Yang Zing! This Wyrm archetype centers around destruction, as most of the Yang Zing monsters float into another Yang Zing whenever it is destroyed by battle or a card effect. Suanni, Bixi, Bi’an, and Pualo are your non-tuners, while also carrying an effect to Synchro Summon using any Yang Zings during the opponent’s turn on command! Before I get too far ahead of myself, my take on this archetype takes their destruction strength to the extreme, aiming to present tech options that make the most of destroying your monsters. Whether it is Supply Squad for draws each time one of your monsters is destroyed or 3 copies of Yang Zing Creation to give you even more summons, this deck has the tools to augment its advantage to snowball over time. But it doesn’t just gain card advantage – it also can fight back with Liberty at Last! and Pennant of Revolution from Duelist Pack Synchro Storm.

Great, you destroyed a ton of cards, but how does this archetype win? That’s where the Synchros come in. Chaofeng, Phantom of the Yang Zing is a Level 9, completely locking your opponent out of activating monster effects with the same attribute as a Yang Zing Synchro material used for its summon. And Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing is the Level 8 Synchro, spinning a card back to the deck for each attribute used in its Synchro summon. Beyond these two in-archetype bosses, just about any Synchro is fair game, so be sure to choose your own array of threats, disruptors, and bosses! One more thing about my build – I’m also using one of the engines I highlighted in a prior CSC video, the Lord of the Heavenly Prison engine! If you haven’t watched that, I highly recommend checking that out and learning something new. Follow the path of the Yang Zing across the Synchro connections!
