Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features the return of The Phantom Knights [PK] archetypes to my channel, a theme of DARK Warriors that speedily and repeatedly leverage DARK Xyz monsters to do their dirty work, hot on the heels of their new support wave in Chaos Origins. To start, let’s talk about the new cards, starting with The Phantom Knights of Decayed Cloak (YGOrg Translation) and The Phantom Knights of Doomed Solleret (YGOrg Translation). Both of these new Level 3 options are easily summoned from the hand while advancing your gamestate, as on summon the first tutors a PK monster while the second sets a PK S/T. Typically you’ll use these to Xyz Summon The Phantom Knights of Malevolent Scythe (YGOrg Translation), a LINK-3 that can detach a material to Special Summon any PK monster from the deck. Additionally, if you Xyz Summon an Xyz Dragon, it can tutor a copy of the new The Phantom Knights’ Rank-Up-Magic Requiem (YGOrg Translation), a Spell Card that enables consistent access to one of the best boss options a deck could ask for, the R5NK Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon. The other key new card I feel is important to highlight is Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons (YGOrg Translation), a new R4NK monster that destroys an equal number of cards on both fields when Special Summoned, while also being able to respond to an opponent’s effect by using itself to faux-Xyz Summon any other DARK R4NK monster, such as Evilswarm Ophion.

Historically, the PK archetype has been played alongside some Burning Abyss cards, and to be frank, I see no reason to change that. With any 2 Level 3 monsters turning into Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss, your deck can easily step up into the LINK-3 The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche, allowing you to set some of your trusty PK Trap Cards to your backrow. What they haven’t been paired with is the HERO theme, but I think that the arrival of Masked HERO Dusk Crow and Masked HERO Fountain (YGOrg Translation) makes that a great option! You see, Elemental HERO Stratos or Elemental HERO Shadow Mist can tutor your Dusk Crow, which tutors Fountain, which gives you 3 Level 4 monsters to use for your summon of Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. If you happen to detach Fountain for an effect, that also gives you Mask Change and access to Masked HERO Dark Law during the opponent’s turn, another DARK threat for them to accommodate. Wield darkness itself as your weapon, with the help of the new and improved Phantom Knights strategy!
