The Memento archetype consists of monsters of various Types, Levels, Attributes, all with the overarching gameplan of destruction. You see, Mementotlan Tatsunootoshigo, Mementotlan Dark Blade, Mementolan Angwitch, Mementotlan Goblin, and Mementotlan Mace each destroy a monster you control to activate their effects. On the other hand, the deck also has some monsters that want to be destroyed, such as Mementotlan-Horned Dragon, Mementotlan Ghattic, and the newest addition, Mementotlan Mystical Sheep (YGOrg Translation)! Sheep is a great addition, because it immediately triggers a Fusion Summon of a Memento monster when Summoned, but it also gets to send a Memento card from your Deck to the GY when destroyed. Speaking of Fusion Summoning, that’s something new for the theme since the last time I’ve covered them, and the archetype now has two Fusion Monsters! The first is yet another consistency boost for the archetype, Mementotlan Tecuhtlica – Combined Conqueror (YGOrg Translation). This Level 9 Illusion Fusion sends 3 Memento cards to the GY on Fusion Summon, plus it carries a Quick Effect to destroy Memento monsters you control and cards your opponent controls! This is a major consistency boost to unlocking the full might of Mementotlan Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation, the theme’s 5000 ATK boss!
But what’s really cool about the new Fusion support is the other new monster, Mementotlan Twin Dragon! This Thunder Fusion is made with 2 Memento monsters, and when summoned, lets you destroy a Memento in hand or on field to tutor 2 Memento monsters. If Twin Dragon itself is destroyed, it also happens to Special Summon a Level 6 or lower Memento back from the GY. Why this is so cool is its Type – you see, since it’s a Thunder monster, you can access it via Thunder Dragon Fusion. Even if your opponent happens to use Dimension Shifter against you and banish your key Mementos, this Fusion Spell can get your key monsters back into the Deck for re-use. If they’re in the GY, that’s where Mementotlan Fusion comes into play, as it can use materials from the GY during the turn at which any monster in your possession was destroyed by card effect! Which, as mentioned earlier, is quite easy. A select few Thunder Dragons also make an appearance here to keep the grind game at top of mind, but ultimately, this is a lean and mean Memento deck, through and through!

You know, I’ve heart of a deck that makes use of the “Freezing Beast”/”Burning Beast” union, as well as “Frost and Flame Dragon”, but I’ve never seen one. Do you think you can add it to your deck list, or is there just not enough to work with to make one?
Hi there! I don’t really think there’s enough to work with there yet – maybe one day we’ll get real ‘Chaos’ support for FIRE/WATER and EARTH/WIND, but that just hasn’t materialized.
