Live on the edge with the Heroic Champions!

Strategic Summary:
Hi everyone – marking my first CDP of 2022, I figured it would be good to go back to the subject of my debut article for the site back in 2013, the Heroics, given the new batch of support revealed last month. The Heroic theme is broken into Challengers, EARTH Warriors that live in the main deck, and Champions, Xyz monsters that thrive in battle! With multiple avenues to kick off the duel, let’s start with the Challengers. Heroic Challenger – Thousand Blades is important as it was a pseudo Summoner Monk for the theme, discarding any Heroic card to tutor another Heroic Challenger from your deck. One of the cards you may choose to summon is Heroic Challenger – Clasp Sword, a Level 1 that turors another Heroic Challenger from the deck whenever it is Special Summoned by a Heroic Challenger effect. This effect then can tutor the new Heroic Challenger – Morning Star (YGOrg Translation), which can summon itself from the hand whenever you control 2 or more Warriors, and it tutors a Heroic Spell/Trap when summoned, such as the new Heroic Envoy (YGOrg Translation). Envoy is a search spell of its own, adding any Heroic to hand, so with that you can tutor Heroic Challenger – Knuckle Knife (YGOrg Translation), which also can Special Summon itself from the hand. This simple chain of events can lead to 2 Level 4 and 2 Level 1 monsters on your board, waiting the right moment to jump into some Xyz Summons!
So let’s talk about the Xyz monsters next. The theme continues to be led by Heroic Champion- Excalibur, a R4NK that can double its attack to 4000 by detaching both Xyz materials. The other legacy Heroic Champion is Heroic Champion – Gandiva, another R4NK that can detach to destroy a Level 4 or lower monster Special Summoned to the opponent’s field. But I’m here to focus on the new cards that got added – first up is Heroic Champion – Claiomh Solais (YGOrg Translation), another R4NK that can drop your LP to 500 to double the ATK of a monster you control during the battle phase. And secondly, it can boosts the ATK of one of your battling monsters even further by the opponent’s monster ATK, ensuring your monsters have enough strength to defeat any opponent. The other new Xyz is a R1NK, Heroic Champion – Jarngreipr (YGOrg Translation), which protects each Warriors from being destroyed the first time it would be each turn. Next, it can Special Summon a fallen Level or Rank 4 Monster from your GY to boost its own ATK and extend your plays further!
Altogether, the Heroic theme lives to smack down their opponents in battle, while benefiting from all of the support the Warrior Type brings. Whether that means Reinforcement of the Army, Reinforce Truth, or even Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights and a few Equip Spells, this deck has some fun casual plays to bust out at a moment’s notice. Plus, who doesn’t love being able to still OTK with a Double or Nothing!?, even if you draw it before summoning your Number 39: Utopia Double? Because that’s exactly what this theme can do. Finally, I’ve included a few fun tech options such as Creature Swap, just to give yourself the best opportunity to OTK over a weak monster – especially if you supply it yourself. Take up arms and join the fight – are you ready to be the Heroic’s next challenger?
