FIRE Reptiles and Dinos meet LIGHT/DARK Snakes!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome to today’s CDP, this time featuring the clash of two archetypes that work even more innately together following the reveal of new Evol support. The Evol archetype consists of FIRE Reptile Evoltile monsters, that all carry various effects to provide access to FIRE Dinosaur Evolsaur monsters, that eventually aim to Xyz Summon FIRE Dragon Evolzar Xyz monsters. For example, Evoltile Najasho Special Summons a Evolsaur from your deck when Tributed. Recently, the Evol archetype was revealed to be recieving three new support cards in DUNE – Evoltile Phoris (YGOrg Translation), which Special Summons an Evoltile when summoned as well as tutors Evo-Force to Special Summon an Evolsaur from your deck, Evolsaur Rios (YGOrg Translation), which tutors Evo-Singularity on summon and can adjust the Level and Type of 2 monsters on the field, and lastly Evolzar Razh (YGOrg Translation), a Rank 6 that can negate the effect(s) of a face-up card your opponent controls, multiple times per turn. All of these cards work in tandem to give a massive boost to Evol strategies using them, but when you combine Phoris with Snake Rain, things get quite… evolved, for lack of a better word.
Before we get too far into Snake Rain, let’s first talk about the Ogdoadic archetype. This theme of LIGHT and DARK Reptile monsters features a ton of different options for Special Summoning from the GY, priming your GY, and overall setting up for huge Reptilian plays. Nauya, the Ogdoadic Remnant is arguably the most important, as it can tutor an Ogdoadic Spell/Trap upon summon, which leads to further combo potential with the help of Ogdoadic Water Lily, which mills a Reptile before letting you Special Summon a Reptile from your GY, as long as you have 5 different ones in the GY. Combine this with Keurse, the Ogdoadic Light or Aleirtt, the Ogdoadic Dark, and you can quickly start summoning plenty of Level 8 Reptiles, at the cost of a Tribute. Speaking of tributes, let’s wrap this back around to Evoltile Najasho, which can be tributed multiple times in the same turn to Special Summon even more Evolsaur monsters from your deck, including Evolsaur Vulcano.
Ultimately, once all of your fun combos are through, you can sometimes end up with Evolzar Laggia, Evolzar Dolkka, Evolzar Razh, Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy, and a Therion “King” Regulus, which is an insane board for your opponent to mount a defense through. But don’t get me wrong – this deck is no one-trick pony. With Phoris summoning back other Evoltiles and Amunessia, the Ogdoadic Queen and Aron, the Ogdoadic King relying on 2 Tributes to Special Summon themselves back from the GY, you have options even if you don’t end up getting that Snake Rain. Or you can rely on your Triple Tactics Thrust to tutor it in a pinch! Embrace the Evo-Singularity when your Evol monsters evolve your Ogdoadics to bigger, badder, and bolder threats!
