CDP: Evil HERO Monarch, ft. SUDA Support

HEROs offer themselves as tribute… evil-ey.

Strategic Summary:

Welcome back for my Casual profile of the month, and this time I’m featuring the new Evil HERO support cards alongside some tried and true Monarch bosses. The Evil HERO subtheme consists of Rocks and Fiends, aiming to Fusion Summon out boss monsters using either Dark Fusion or substitute Spells that mention it, such as Dark Contact or Dark Calling. Among the new Fusions is Evil HERO Inferno Wing – Backfire, a Level 6 that tutors any card that mentions Dark Fusion from your Deck or GY to the hand. I like to grab Evil HERO Toxic Bubble, as when it is Special Summoned while you control an Evil HERO Fusion, it lets you draw two cards. Between this basic combo, the GY effect of Evil Hero Sinister Necrom, and Evil Assault, this deck can Special Summon a ton of monsters to the field, leaving plenty of Tributes for your Monarchs to take over.

As far as the Monarch side of today’s deck, I’m featuring an assortment of my favorite big Monarchs, as well as a few of their support cards. Ehther the Heavenly Monarch is your bridge to any of the others, Special Summoning another Monarch from the Deck on Tribute Summon that returns to the hand during the End Phase. This lets you tutor Caius the Mega Monarch for example, setting up for a Tribute Summon during their turn via the effect of Escalation of the Monarchs. I also included my favorite Monarch, Thestalos the Shadowfire Monarch, as it can be Tribute Summoned using an opponent’s monster and your Tribute Summoned Ehther, no The Monarchs Stormforth required! Finally, if you don’t happen to have the Escalation combo handy, there’s always Dark Advance to recover and then Tribute Summon one of your Monarchs. It may be an odd combination of themes, but hopefully you enjoy uniting Fusion and Tribute Summoning into one build – catch you next time with one of my favorite new archetypes to come out of SUDA/ALIN!
