Combine the cult of Selene with the Dogmatic new tribe from Rise of the Duelist!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Despite covering both of these archetypes before, it becomes quite an intriguing concept to combine both the Dogmatika and Evil Eye archetypes into one deck. On the LIGHT/Spellcaster side, the strategy abuses the effects of monsters sent directly from the Extra Deck to the GY, with the assistance of Dogmatika Maximus and Nadir Servant! If you send Elder Entity N’tss, you can destroy a card, while El Shaddoll Apkallone unlocks access to Shaddoll Schism, allowing for even more control over the duel by summoning Winda during the opponents turn! On the other hand, the Evil Eye archetype offers the most valuable Normal Summon in the game: Serziel, Watcher of the Evil Eye can search any other Evil Eye card, in addition to having quite the disruptive ability to destroy an opponent’s Special Summoned monster. If you happen to also open one of the familiars, you can even upgrade him to Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed, which upgrades your disruption to a quick effect to destroy any opposing card! Combine these cults of LIGHT and DARK and unleash the fury of heaven and hell upon all who oppose you.
So why combine these specific archetypes? Well Dogmatika works effectively without utilizing a Normal Summon, as illustrated by its use competitively combined with Invoked. Evil Eye is extremely similar to Invoked for a number of reasons, as the theme’s Field Spell can search the Normal Summon (Serziel), giving you effectively 7 copies of your starter when factoring in Terraforming. At the end of the day, the Evil Eye combo simply provides either a Serziel with an Eye of Selene (for SS destruction), a Gorgon with an Eye (for an extra monster effect negation), or a Zerrziel with an Eye (for targeted destruction). All of these options are simply replacements for the Invoked Mechaba commonly found in Invoked Dragmatika end boards, while giving your deck the possibility of an extra Spell/Trap negate through Evil Eye Retribution!
This build is grounded in the deckbuilding theory covered by the lessons offered to those participating in a Student Role in our Discord. For more information, check out this post.
