Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP features yet another Elfnote hybrid build, as this time we’re leveraging them to pivot into Centur-ion combos. Two quick notes before I dive in – first, a quick shout-out to the individual from my locals for inspiring this build, as he has been doing amazing things with this combination even before the new Elfnote support from BLZD and CORI. Second, if you want to see my other Elfnote hybrid build to see other examples of leveraging them with other Synchro decks, be sure to check them out Elfnote Kewl Tune here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl8fCi4fm4I .
Alright, now that you’re back, let’s jump right in and talk about June Pride – Elfnotes (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 10 Synchro that can Special Summon up to 1 Elfnote each from hand/Deck/GY by returning itself to the Extra Deck. This may seem like a poor trade, but it works extremely well to conserve your limited Main Monster Zone space, consolidating your 3 Elfnote Quick Effects into one zone. This is key for a deck like this that needs as many zones as possible. And what else would those zones be used for, than making big Synchros with the Centur-Ion archetype! The Centur-Ion are a theme of multi-Attribute and multi-Type monsters that are best known for their ability to Special Summon themselves from the S/Ts Zone, as well as making Level 12 Synchro monsters better than just about any other archetype. With both Centur-Ion Legatia and Centur-Ion Auxila within the archetype and the generic nature of Crimson Dragon, this theme also can spam out Cosmic Blazar Dragon, sometimes even adding 2 copies to your endboard.
So how do these two themes flow together? You see, the Elfnote provide a seemless transition thanks to Elfnote Lucina, Elfnote Tinia, or Elfnote Regina. Once Special Summoned into the center MMZ, any provides access to Elfnote Power Patron, allowing you to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitzia, which then brings back that same Power Patron to Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Primera Primus. Primus tutors Emblema Oath, and you have full access to all Centur-Ion plays from there due to Centur-Ion Trudea and Centur-Ion Primera. What makes this string more potent and effective is when you also have other extenders instead of the bare minimum, for example Spenta, the Magistus Sealer, or just by opening a copy of Emblema Oath instead. With an extender ready to go, you can forgo the Primus to insulate your plays from something like Nibiru with the help of Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, or further apply pressure to the opponent by adding Arms of Genex Return Zero (with 5 of the 6 different Attributes in GY) or Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity to your endboard. These options extend beyond the Monster Zones though – you also have Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to negate an opponent’s face-up card at will, in addition to Centur-Ion Phalanx to temporarily remove a threat until you’re ready to deal with it. Hopefully you enjoy this hybrid pile, and catch you next time with a Xyz-focused CDP!
