CDP: Dinomorphia Parshath, with Counter Fairy, Morganite, and Steamed Sabersaurus

    Let’s Play some Counter Traps!

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

The last CDP of the month is here, and today I’ve decided to revisit the Dinomorphia theme with an angelic twist. The Dinomorphia archetype consists of DARK Dinosaur monsters that aim to control the duel through heavy use of Normal and Counter Trap cards. Unfortunately, all of these Traps come with a twist – you have to pay half of your LP to use them. While this does add up quickly over time, it simply makes your Dinomorphia Rexterm even more impactful when it prevents the opponent’s monster effect activations if that monster has more ATK than your LP. To prevent errant burn cards from ruining your day, the Dinomorphia Normal Traps can all be banished from the GY to prevent an instance of Effect Damage, while the Dinomoprhia Counter Traps can be banished to prevent an instance of Battle Damage. Now this theme is good enough to be played extremely straightforwardly in a pure fashion, but that just isn’t my style, so I went looking for an angelic connection and landed on the Counter Fairy strategy.

The Counter Fairy strategy is best known for Bountiful Artemis, a Level 4 LIGHT Fairy that draws a card each time a Counter Trap Card is activated. With the Dinomorphia, Solemn Judgment, and Rebirth of Parshath being utilized in the deck, this happens much more frequently than you might expect. Given the use of the Parshath cards, I also decided to include Sacred Arch-Airknight Parshath, a Level 9 Fairy that gets to Special Summon itself from the hand/GY when a Counter Trap Card is activated, if you don’t summon it off of Rebirth that is! The key thing for this boss is that it tutors a Parshath or Counter Trap card whenever it inflicts Battle Damage, letting you build out that board even bigger and snowball advantage enough you have more than enough to win! This is also the motivation for running a Morganite engine, as both Time-Tearing Morganite and Succumbing-Song Morganite contribute snowballing advantages to help your deck close out a duel. Of course, you could always turn to other Dino support as well like Double Evolution Pill and Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, or look to the Extra Deck with the new Steamed Sabersaurus that can empower the ATK of another Dinosaur when it is going for game. Fan the Ferret Flames with the Dinomorphia and Counter Fairies!

Kind of actually! I’m taking the month of June to relax and recoup, but I’m planning to try to create and drop a few IRL profiles in the gap before restarting my normal cadence.

I’m just going to throw this idea out there

I would like to see a Megalith/Mitsurugi deck using the new Megalith cards. I had been trying to find something I could pair with the Mitsurugi and ran into a combo that basically lets you summon the new level 12 Megalith monster without loosing your field presence or decreasing your overall hand size in the process and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

I would like to see your take on it, how you would balance it out, and what cards you would use.
