Creative Deck Profile: Dark Magician Two Ways – Experimenting with new BACH Support

The Ultimate Wizard returns with tech options.

Replays:

Strategic Summary:

Welcome back to another tech-option focused profile, this time centered on the Dark Magician archetype and constantly expanding suite of support cards. Over time, Yugi’s legendary ace monster has recieved a ton of support, from Fusions to Xyzs, Rituals to endless Spell and Trap Support, even to support linking Dark Magician to Chaos and more closely to Dark Magician Girl. This has resulted in a giant pool of tech options and support cards – perfect for a deck to pick from to optimize. While my most optimized build of Dark Magician came in the form of The Eternal Dark Magician in CDSS7, this profile showcases two other builds I designed to show the new BACH support cards and Mega Tin support cards in action, leaving it up to you to decide how you want to play the theme.

In terms of win condition, the Dark Magician strategy is ultimately a control deck, limiting your opponent’s options and removing threats from the opponent’s board. But the true benefit of so many waves of support? Endless consistency options. Whether it is Magician’s Rod searching any of your themed Spells/Traps, Dark Magical Circle ‘drawing’ them faster, Magicians’ Souls getting DM to the GY and actually drawing more cards, Illusion of Chaos (YGOrg Translation) searching themed monsters, and Magician’s Salvation searching your key trap card – I think its quite clear this deck has options. And in that lies the true power – you can morph this theme to fit your playstyle, with the disruption options you need for the opponent. So stop wasting your time reading this – check out the effects of the cards themselves, then get out there and figure out your perfect way to unlock the Ultimate Wizard.
