The good Dark Magician is slowly taking shape to have his own Deck.
– “Mature Dark Magician” shows us the good Dark Magician in his adulthood wanting to recover his glory days. It is the typical “Draw Power” that several Decks have. However, the Effect makes me think that we will have a new Monster that can acquire the “Dark Magician” name in the GY.
– “Jewel of the Dark Magician” is a good Spell Card to be able to Special Summon your Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl either from the Hand or the GY to be able to reuse the exclusive Spell Cards that that Legend Monster has.
Mature Dark Magician is much more useful in the Darkness/Sevens Road engine than in Dark Magician right now, not only setting up your GY with Magician or Witch for Master, Dark Sevens, and Zerorogue, but its Level (3) does not conflict with any of the Darkness Spellcaster cards for Fource Seeker’s effect. You can even set up your GY for Sevens Wonder Fusion. Special Summoning Dark Magician from your GY at practically no cost is only a small bonus.
To make up for the advantage it generates with no prior set up, Jewel only supports 3 monsters in the game so far – DM, DMG, and Swordawn – the latter of which will appreciate the additional Spell Card in the GY for its protection effect. Konami has been careful enough not to print any other monsters with that combination of Attribute, Type, and ATK to avoid potential abuse. This should mean that if we get more DM/DMG “clones” like Swordawn, they will all be at either stat line. At the very least I hope we get a DMG clone in this pack because right now DMG is the only viable target at 2000 ATK.
Unfortunately, Rodney Doogle will not be seeing this. I tied him up with all the Flex Tape® I can find and locked him up in the old cellar about a couple months ago. I haven’t let that bastard out ever since and I plan on keeping it that way.
