Hello and welcome back for a new CDP, this time featuring the new Salamangreat cards from the recent FIRE Duelist Pack with a slightly different win condition. If you missed my first Salamangreat profile that spotlighted the new Tuners and Synchro support, be sure to check that out here.
Today’s profile showcases the power of a well Fusioned Salamangreat Violet Chimera, a powerful FIRE Fusion that gains ATK equal to half of its materials. Whenever it battles an opponent’s monster whose ATK is different from its original ATK, Violet Chimera can double its own ATK to make the battle hit that much harder. Finally, if you Fusion Summoned it using a Violet Chimera, it also carries an effect to reduce the ATK of the opponent’s battling monster to 0, ensuring the second effect hits ever so hard. To achieve this Fusion monster, the Salamangreat archetype has two avenues. The first is their own Normal Spell, Fusion of Fire, which lets you use material from either field. The second is a FIRE Link monster that the Salamangreat can easily appropriate, Proxy F Magician. Even if this Fusion route doesn’t work out for you, you still have all of the other avenues for success that are available for all Salamangreat builds now. Whether it is leaning on Salamangreat Roar and Salamangreat Rage, now tutorable with Salamangreat Raging Phoenix (YGOrg Translation), or just relying on burn damage from Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix, this archetype is the posterchild for the year of new FIRE support.
