CDP: Gishki Ritual, Aquatic Servants of the Ice-Bound God, ft. PHHY Support

This Aquamirror shows the darker side of the soul.

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Welcome to today’s profile, centered on the Gishki archetype. The Gishki are comprised of WATER monsters of various types, that rely on Ritual Summoning powerful monsters. In the past, the primary Gishki were the Level 6 Rituals, but with the new PHHY Support, the Level 10 Rituals are the way to go with the theme. So let’s check out the newcomers to the depths. First up is Gishki Grim (YGOrg Translation), a Level 2 Fish that Special Summons another Gishki monster from your deck when summoned. In virtually all cases, you’ll be using Grim to summon Gishki Abyss from your deck, as Abyss can tutor either Gishki Shadow or Gishki Vision from the deck when Summoned. Shadow and Vision are important as Shadow can discard itself to tutor any Gishki Ritual Spell and Vision can discard itself to tutor any Gishki Ritual Monster. As for the other new starter, Aquamirror Focalization (YGOrg Translation) is a new Normal Spell that straight up just tutors a Gishki Monster. If you’re counting, that’s already 15 copies of tutors to get to your combo of Ritual Spell +Monster for this theme, and that’s before counting generic options like Beautunaful Princess or Deep Sea Aria.

Speaking of Rituals, let’s talk about our rockstars. Gishki Zielgigas was the original Level 10 Gishki Ritual, with an effect to pay 1000 LP to draw a card, then if it is a Gishki, you have to shuffle a card from the field into the Deck. While this can be a downside if you draw a Gishki when you don’t intend to, repeated use of this effect can give you a massive edge in card advantage, especially if you’re going second and wish to wash away the opponent’s board. The second and brand new Ritual Monster is Evigishki Nereimanas (YGOrg Translation), a WATER Spellcaster that Special Summons a WATER monster from the GY when Ritual Summoned. Additionally, when your opponent activates a monster effect, it can return a Gishki Ritual from the field back to the hand to negate the activation and shuffle the monster into the Deck. While these are both powerful Rituals, the strength of the Gishki archetype lies with Gishki Aquamirror, their Ritual Spell. You see, whenever it is in the GY, you can shuffle it back into the deck to add a Gishki Ritual Monster from the GY to your hand. This recycles your Ritual tributes, should you use a Gishki Ritual Monster as the offering to Ritual Summon, while also giving you even more free card advantage to offset the hefty cost of the Ritual Summoning mechanic. Dive into crystal waters with the Gishki Icemirror (YGOrg Translation)!
