Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features the return of the latest TCG World Premiere theme to my channel – the GMX! This theme of non-Dinosaurs that support Dinosaurs received an excellent wave 2 in Blazing Dominion, so let’s chat about what they can do! First up is GMX Partner Selandea, a Level 5 Warrior that can reveal itself to Special Summon any GMX or Dino from the hand, plus when Special Summoned by any monster effect, it Special Summons a GMX or Dinosaur from hand, GY, or banishment. Both effects offer great extension, letting you continue plays through disruption, which is a similar theme for the next new card, GMX Suppression Squad. This new Level 4 gets to Special Summon itself whenever you control any GMX or Dinosaur, and once on the field, it can force a monster on the field to become a Dinosaur through the power of excavation! Additional excavation is always appreciated, especially after we turn to the new Extra Deck options!

First up on the Fusion front is Evolved Daneen, a Level 6 Dinosaur made with Returned Dino Daneen and any other Dinosaur. When its Special Summoned, it tutors a GMX card, and whenever you excavate a card by GMX effect, it either lets you gain 1500 or it can Special Summon itself back from your GY. Similarly, the new ultimate boss of the theme GMX – COMPREX also triggers whenever you excavate via GMX card effect. However, he just destroys all other cards on the field if you do, so that just makes him a game-ending threat… that can also attack thrice! The last new card that pairs well with both of these options is a new Continuous Trap for the theme, Anti-GMX Final Experiment. It may need you to require a GMX monster to activate this card, but once you do, you can respond to an opponent’s monster effect activation on the field by excavating the top 5 cards, and if you reveal a GMX card, you get to negate the activated effect. Since this Trap card only has a soft once-per-turn, you actually like to see multiple copies, giving you the ability to negate up to three effects every turn!

Alright, now that you’ve met the new cards, let’s talk about how all of this comes together. You see, GMX Researcher Selande is up first, summoning any Level 3 or lower Dino when Normal Summoned. If you already have access to Miscellaneousaurus to summon a Level 1 Dino, that’s perfect, because that unlocks combos with your copy of Babycerasaurus or Jurrac Megalo with Animadorned Archosaur. If not, you can still make the most of Returned Daneen, Fusion Summoning, making Evolved Daneen, then leveraging Cross-Sheep to trigger the 2nd Selande effect. From there, the world becomes your oyster, with Souleating Oviraptor giving you access to either Evolzar Xyz, and Double Evolution Pill giving you a free Super-Ancient Dinobeast that gives you free draws just for making standard plays. And all of this still leaves ample room for staples, such as the Forbidden Droplet playset I’ve included. Of course, if you build this yourself, be sure to take it even further – you have plenty of options when the GMX come to play!
