Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP refocuses upon the Rose Dragon archetype, as I am embracing the slow burn of a thousand cuts by the effect of Bramble Rose Dragon. You see, the Rose Dragon theme revolves around Black Rose Dragon and cards that mention it, enabling you to Synchro Summon Plant and Dragon monsters to advance your game, one play at a time, closer to ultimate victory. Ideally you will use Red Rose Dragon alongside any Level 4 monster that Special Summons itself to make your first Level 7 Synchro, then from there everything can go off the rails, summoning Roxrose Dragon, grabbing Black Rose Garden, triggering Vengeful Witch, and more. What has held this theme back is its inability to have many follow-up plays beyond that initial line, and that’s where the /Assault Mode strategy comes into play.
Centered around Assault Mode Activate, this archetype aims to blitz out Synchro Monsters, then Tribute them with their primary Trap Card to summon an /Assault Mode version from the deck. For example, you have Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode, which upgrades its effect to negate any activation. The latest Synchro to get a glow up is Black Rose Dragon/Assault Mode (YGOrg Translation), which destroys all cards on the field whenever it is summoned or whenever a monster is Special Summoned to the opponent’s field. This may work perfectly in tandem with Rage Rose Witch, as long as you still have your Garden in play, but it also gives you some extra oompf to clear boards as needed, if you leverage Duel Evolution – Assault Zone to tribute a Black Rose Dragon in your Extra Deck. Even without that combo, Zone can also grab you a copy of Assault Sonic Warrior (YGOrg Translation), which in turn will grab you a free copy of Starjunk Synchron (YGOrg Translation), giving you the follow-up Rose Dragon needs to extend into a free Level 7 Synchro play, all off of a summoned Cattycorn from your Vengeful Witch. This is truly a deck that is built upon the best wishes of our red-haired Heroine, so unleash the Rose Dragons today!
