Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for the next Phantom Revengers-themed CDP, and this time we’re leaving Fusions behind for the Synchro Realm! The Kewl Tune archetype features all Tuners as they aim to Synchro Summon using, you guessed it, all Tuners! They also share the ability to use a Tuner in the hand as Synchro Material, allowing for quite an array of cool plays. Let’s meet the main players – first we have Kewl Tune Cue and Kewl Tune Reco as the Level 3s. Cue summons a Tuner from Hand/Deck/GY on Normal Summon, and Reco tutors or recovers one of your non-Level 3 Kewl Tunes on Summon. They’re joined by Kewl Tune Mix and Kewl Tune Clip as the Level 2s. Mix tutors or recovers a non-Level 2 on Summon and Mix can Summon itself from the hand during the opponent’s Main Phase then immediately Synchro Summon! While they have quite a few great in-theme options, the best Synchro Tuner available to them is the new Zaren the Chainbound Dragon (YGOrg Translation), giving you quite the array of disruption in its own unique way.
Now that you’ve met the majority of the players, let’s talk about why I mixed them with other things – The Kewl Tune have a solid premise and can put out other decent disruption through both of their Level 5 Synchros (Kewl Tune Remix and Kewl Tune RS), but they can quickly become limited by that. So, I turned to the new Synchron support to give them more potential. Of course, Junk Synchron will still be able to go into a Junk Speeder combo, but with the help of the new Junk Meister (YGOrg Translation) and Junk Armor (YGOrg Translation) from 26PP, the deck also gets to leverage Jet Synchron’s search for all its worth! This even adds a valuable Normal Summon to the deck in Full-Speed Warrior, since it grabs you a copy of Synchro Fellowship to get the Synchro party started. This then segues into Kewl Tune combos quite well, due to the extra Normal Summon offered by JJ “Kewl Tune”! I also included a small Mannadium package in here, not only because Visas Amritara is another Synchro Tuner option that happens to tutor an omni-negate in Mannadium Reframing, but also because Peaceful Planet Calarium can seriously boost the ATK of all of your LIGHT monsters to immense heights with all the Tuners! Lastly, Synchro support cards in general work great here, such as both Synchro Overtake and Over Tuning (YGOrg Translation), simply because you are running so many Tuners and Synchros that name specific Tuners… At the end of the day, they all just resonate quite nicely!
