Clash of the TCG WPs: Group A [Mitsurugi/Noble Knight/Ghoti/Time Thief]

Let’s kick off a Simulated Tournament!

What is Clash of the TCG WPs?

‘CLASH’ is a new format for my videos, in which I feature a Simulated Tournament: 16 decks enter, best-of-3 matches, with siding. If a strategy loses their match, it is eliminated; win, and it moves on to fight another winner. If you’ve been a long-time reader of the site, this format is a spiritual successor to my previous Creative Deck Strategy Showdown videos, just modernized with a new look-and-feel.

For this Clash, I narrowed it down 16 most-likely-to-be-successful TCG WP archetypes, aka Clash of the TCG WPs. As far as deckbuilding goes, there were no restrictions on only using archetypal cards; however, I tried to stick to a common rule that the primary win condition must aim to utilize the in-theme cards. All decklists are available on Spellbook.life, and direct links will be provided at the end of the article.

Group A:

Predictions:

A new format and style comes with another new addition – Predictions. To set the stage, I asked some of our YGOrg site contributors to provide their thoughts on who would win each bracket, and I’ve included their predictions below – if you’d like to join in, feel free to add a comment below and it might get added to a future Group post.

• Bolt Spider, Author of our Market Watch articles
  • Definite for Group A – Mitsurugi DoomZ just wins out, as much as I’d love for Penguins to win
• Satchmo, Anime Expert and News Contributor
  • The Mitsurugi and DoomZ engines both also have very powerful interactions and resource loops, so expect that to give my top pick a run for its money.
• Quincymccoy, Resident Deckbuilder and CDP author
  • Prior to running any of this, based off the random group draw alone, I expected Mitsurugi DoomZ to run away with Group A. It has solid going 1st and going 2nd, and a variety of disruption tactics.
• NeoArkadia, Primary News Contributor
  • I’d also pin Mitsurugi DoomZ due to to the high power of Mitsurugi and DoomZ having explosive combos, but I think it’d be deeply funny if Time Thief Springans somehow eeked out the win.
