DRAW! MONSTER CARD!
Konami has announced its big anniversary update for 2025:
Updating the Yu-Gi-Oh! (Duel Monsters) world to include anime only content such as Noah Kaiba and Dartz and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Dome.
Previously, the Duel Monsters World had been generally treated as covering the content of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, including the fact Pegasus is dead in the manga. So this would be a pivot away from that previous focus.
As well, Konami will be providing celebratory cards in the form of “Dragon Master Knight” and “Five-Headed Dragon” (RUSH DUEL)!

Finally dartz!
But we only have 3 cards from his deck as real cards…
@ScionStorm: Won’t stop them from making his other cards into Duel Links exclusive cards, like what they did with Ojamandala etc. Hell, Antidote Nurse was one of them, and eventually became a real card itself.
Those cards were previously video game cards featured in the Tag Force and World Carnival games.
So this is what they decided on instead of a new world huh? I did wonder what they would do, if anything, as there is no new duelist anime to pull from. However a card chronicles themed world where you can play as monster cards for the characters would had been great! A shame they didn’t do that this time.
On another note. They really need to change how the character select menu works if they plan on tossing in EVEN MORE characters into the original Yugioh world, because it is fairly awkward & time wasting scrolling to any exact character I’d want whenever currently.
They have a grid button you can press to select from a list rather than scroll through them all.
So Noah and The Big Five and Dartz and Doma (I don’t remember if Rafael and the rest had a group name so going with the Jp version here) are all finally coming to DL., that’s awesome.
@Jefe Gato
As for the group name, it could be the Three Musketeers, if I remember from a long time ago… Also, Valon’s Armor monsters, let’s go!
I hope this means they get anime cards.
Zigfried inc? 😀
Honestly, ever since DSOD became its own World in DL, I found the whole idea about the original DM world focusing on the manga rather pointless and redundant
Making it more focused in the anime instead is a welcome change
Agreed, considering that the world generally takes more cues from the anime with the characters featured and their cards.
But still no Fubuki/Atticus.
Aight then
This works perfectly with the story of Duel Links! During the Paradox unlock event, Yugi and Yami stated that they had no recollection of meeting Jaden or Yusei until Paradox appeared in Duel Links, and Pegasus himself stated that he now had memories of two different deaths. This means Duel Links is now reaching into the anime universe from Yugi’s era, so we’re likely going to be getting legendary duelists from the various filler arcs!
Rebecca when?
I’m still rooting for a Monster World
Lemme be Kaibaman
Just realized Dartz only has real versions of his cards made, with Geh being the only one that is kinda decent. So either that means they plan on giving him a load of anime exclusive cards, or they will give him a totally different deck with just couple of his best cards also tossed in.
On a related note. I am always surprised at how much cards from the original show they haven’t bothered making real yet. Plus the real life “Orichalcos Shunoros” card works NOTHING like the anime version… at this point if they ever wanna make his deck, they will need to redo everything.
Oops, I meant to say [Only few of his cards have been made real.]
Yeah, sadly he only has four cards, those being Geh, the Seal itself, Shunoros and Timeeater (that was the one he discarded for Orichalcos Mirror in his duel), so they do gotta have him use completely different cards unless they plan on something in the near future for the RL game.
Hopefully, this is a sign that we’ll get the rest of his cards soon, including a retrain of Shunoros that works more like his anime version. But if they did decide to give him a different deck, I’m curious as to what it could be…
And I’m with you on them dragging their feet with the anime/manga cards… It’s been over 20 years now, and we still don’t have everything. Instead, we’re getting all of these cruddy Master Duel/Chronicles-era archetypes that don’t even look like Yu-Gi-Oh cards. What they should’ve done is focus on giving us the remaining anime/manga cards first before going through this new messed-up meta-laden direction with the game, and let us classic fans fully enjoy the Yu-Gi-Oh we grew up with with ALL of the cards. Also, I’ve still never forgiven Konami for what they did to Card of Sanctity… It needs a hard errata pronto to give us the ACTUAL anime effect, but more controlled, just like they did with Crush Card Virus…
@NitemareAran
Personally I love a fair amount of the card game original themes like “Shaddoll” which has been among my fave decks just like Blue-Eyes & certain other anime decks I been a fan of since day one from the anime. I do prefer Duel links over Master Duel myself, so I understand you are frustrated at the company for not releasing all of the anime decks yet IRL, but I don’t you should let that stop you from enjoying the game.
@Fumetsusozo
That’s totally fair about Shaddolls. I was mainly referring to the later stuff, like Sky Striker, Branded, Orcust, etc.; these archetypes, along with staple cards like Ash Blossom, Called by the Grave, Infinite Impermanence and the Knightmare Links, are what completely ruined the game for me and many others (creativity and all). Sure, Shaddolls were a meta original archetype, but it at least still had that classic style and enough weaknesses at the time to not be as broken as the aforementioned archetypes. I’m the same with preferring Duel Links over Master Duel. At least we can duel with our favorite decks against the anime characters without needing a buttload of staples to stay alive for one turn. And it’s not the lack of anime/manga cards that’s keeping me from enjoying the game, it’s everyone playing the same kinds of decks that completely shuts down plays and takes forever between turns just to play out their entire deck to set up a field that the second turn player can’t stop. Yu-Gi-Oh is basically a super-expensive version of Solitaire at this point, and you’d have to spend a ton of money just to keep up. I mean, outside of Duel Links, how can one enjoy a game that we can’t even play without shelling out hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars to do so, when you can’t even play with all of your classic favorites due to them not being fast enough in today’s Meta and needing a 20-card anti-meta staple engine in any deck you play just to stop your opponent’s long-winded plays? This is why I retired from the IRL game and am just sticking to Duel Links… If/when we ever do finally get all of the anime cards, I’ll enjoy them from there where I know I can play with everything without getting Ash Blossomed or anything like that by the anime characters at the Gate.
Apologies for the long reply.
At this stage they could just replace Duel Links with proper Rush Duel game or focus on MD. Speed Duels flopped spectacularly, their DL version is just slightly nerfed but still toxic rework of TCG, they literally are running out of material to put there, according to SteamDB the player count is on slow but steady decline…
If the next Duel Link world is dedicated to exclusive characters from the Duel Monsters anime, then it is possible to see worlds dedicated to exclusive characters from the spin-off manga.
Considering Reiko’s popularity, that would definitely be a welcome surprise.
Hell, why stop with R? Add in Alexander the Great from Capsule Monsters while we’re at it!
Wait what Pegasus is dead ???? how and when
Pegasus was killed by Bakura in the manga after Duelist Kingdom. In the anime, they kept him alive instead.
In the manga Pegasus dies after the Duelist Kingdom tournament wraps up because Yami Bakura shows up to take the Millennium Eye.
