CDP: Mitsurugi Orcust, A Reptilian Crescendo

    QuincymccoyBy QuincymccoyAugust 23, 2025No Comments

Unleash a cold-blooded cacophony of Links and Rituals!

    Replays:

    Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features two very powerful themes uniting into one deck to maximize absolute power, as the Misturugi return to my channel with Orcust in tow. I’ve covered Mitsurugi a number of times now, but if you are the one person who has never crossed paths with this deck, this DARK Reptile Ritual theme aims to Ritual Summon multiple times, triggering effects each time their monsters are tributed. Ideally, the Mitsurugi part of today’s deck ends on Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi with at least a copy of Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi waiting in the GY to Special Summon, as that gives you a Raigeki on legs plus an added cost of a discard to allow an opponent’s card or effect to resolve. Even with a minimal Mitsurugi engine, this deck can make all of these core plays off of a copy of Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi due to the power of Mitsurugi Ritual, and since it generates a lot of additional material, it sets up well for the second half of the deck.

On the other side of the deck, we have the Orcust theme, empowered by its newest new Link Monsters. The Orcust theme locks you into DARK summons once you use their effects, but that’s no problem when your whole deck features DARK monsters! Whether it is Galatea-I, the Orcust Automaton enabling better access to Orcustrated Babel on your turn and combos with World Legacy – “World Crown” on the opponent’s, this LINK-1 gave the deck so much more versatility. Plus, the grind game of Orcust cannot be beat, as the near endless resource loop of sending to the GY, banishing, Special Summoning, recovering, etc. is only perpetuated by the new LINK-4 Enlilgirsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight.

To pad out the remainder of deckspace, I’m also using staples like Triple Tactics Talent, a Dominus Impulse engine, and Droll & Lock Bird, but the more unique use of space goes to a fitting in a small PSY-Frame engine. With the Mitsurugi able to board free material for PSY-Framelord Lambda, it can add an extra dimension when you happen to draw into your PSY-Framegear Gamma. While I don’t usually speak to this, I’m also using a smokescreen side in this deck, with the ability to shift the deck entirely away from Orcust to a Azamina Sinful Spoils Mitsurugi build, if you think your opponent might tunnel-vision on siding for the Orcust side of your deck. Regardless, hope you enjoy my take on this DARK hybrid, and catch you next time with another multi-archetype build!
