Strategic Summary:
Welcome to a brand new CDP, and we’re kicking off November with a hit of Vampires! The Vampire archetype consists of DARK Zombie monsters that share a few major mechanics over their batches of support. First, they have a number of high-level options that benefit from Tribute Summoning. For example, Shadow Vampire is a Level 5 that Special Summons another Vampire from the Deck on Normal Summon, whereas Vampire Duke Special Summons another from the GY when it is Normal Summoned. Giving them material to tribute is easy as well, as Vampire Sucker can Special Summon a monster from the opponent’s GY as a Zombie, plus it lets you Tribute a Zombie monster your opponent controls for a Tribute Summon. Then there’s the consistency boosters that Special Summon themselves: Vampire Familiar and Vampire Retainer. Each can send another Vampire card from your hand/field to the GY to Special Summon themselves, plus they tutor a Vampire card on summon.
Now there’s one major thing I need to point out about the Vampire theme – they may be the one and only Zombie theme that doesn’t need to run ALL of the generic Zombie support cards. In place of Uni-Zombie, the theme has its own support card in Vampire Ghost, a Level 3 that on Normal Summon tutors a Level 4 or higher Vampire, then primes the GY with a Level 2 or lower Vampire. It even has a GY effect of its own, banishing itself to immediately Normal Summon a Vampire! This isn’t the only extra Normal Summon at your disposal, as both Vampire’s Domain or The Duke of Demise (YGOrg Translation) gives you extra Normal Summons to play with.
To close us out today, let me take a few minutes to chat about how the newest Zombie support cards have really improved this strategy. First up is Delta of Temptation (YGOrg Translation), a new Field Spell that sends any Level 5+ Zombie from the Deck to the GY on activation. In-theme, this sets up your Vampire Grace, but it also pairs perfectly with Eldlich the Golden Lord. Next, it can Special Summon a Level 5 Token if you control a Zombie monster, perfect material for a Tribute or Link Summon. Finally, if a Zombie is added from the GY to hand, it adds itself back to the hand too, a perfect combo with the effect of Eldlich! The other major new card is Flying Mary, the Wandering Ghost Ship, a LINK-2 that can place itself into the backrow to Special Summon a Level 5+ Zombie from your GY or banishment. Once there, each turn it can target a Level 5+ Zombie to destroy an opponent’s monster with less ATK. The utility of this card speaks for itself, especially once you get your summons rolling and need to invest all your Zombies into some Link Summons! Hope you enjoy this Halloween-themed profile, and catch you next time as I dive into ever so many other themes that received recent support over the course of this month!

The deck is very good, although it would be better if they released new vampire support…someday
Vampires are so cool in this game, i remember when i first played in world championship 2005 on game boy with the zombie genesis structure deck! The only ygo game i played where we could start with a real structure deck instead of a random pile deck
TBH, I would prefer if they’ve kept the original vampire gimmick of milling the opponent. Also their old artstyle was better.
