Yeah that’s pretty much what I expected. For the 7 staples it was either gonna be Ship or Ryozai getting hit.
I legit didn’t even know that card existed. its crazy that they were like “what if lv7’s just had more draw fodder and backrow protection?”
Why limit ships? While it the most staple it not that ground breaking.
Ship of Seven Treasures has always been a card that gave Level 7 extra power since it debuted. So much so, that there are several Decks that only work with pure random Level 7 Boss Monsters (creating mixed Deck salads)
The arrival of the so-called “Deity of Seven Treasures” only increased how valuable Ship of Seven Treasures was.
Therefore, limiting Ship is an option since you not only reduce the consistency of those Level 7 focused Decks, but you also prevent future “Deity of Seven Treasures” from becoming Generic Bosses that can be put into any Deck that uses Ship.

Well they not only have 20 years of hindsight to avoid issues but the more limited ruleset/lack of searching means that powercreep takes much longer to affect them.
but these are all reasons I prefer Rush to MD rn.
They are using the years of OCG Balancing experience in this tbh.
Rush Duel is an extremely balanced game all things considered, no deck is extremely dominant or is unbeatable, even the strongest decks can fall to a rogue deck.
The fact that they have rulings for everything to be soft opt and searches are essentially risk/reward (most archetypal searches nowadays consist on you milling 3-4 cards and adding a card from the milled ones) makes the game pretty enjoyable to play.
Well it took 5 years for the OCG to ban any cards at all for what that’s worth

Well, Sea Serpent Maximum Deck was close to winning a tournament in Japan recently, but there’s not much justification for taking a hit to Abysslayer Deck.
That hit sounds more like a preemptive one: which means Abysslayer should be getting support going forward.
