Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP goes all in on the Pendulum strategy, as we take yet another pass at the Supreme King strategy. I covered this with a few more ‘out there’ techs earlier this year, such as a Majespecter engine, but today we’re going back pure. The crux of the Supreme King strategy is to set your two scales via various means, hardcharging towards the summon of Supreme King Z-ARC. It’s fairly difficult to summon Z-ARC correctly, which is why Soul of the Supreme Celestial King exists to Fusion Summon by banishing materials from anywhere. However, there’s a new solution now – focus on Z-ARC’s alternate forms. The first is Odd-Eyes Arcray Dragon, a Level 12 LIGHT Pendulum that can be Special Summoned by tributing a Supreme King Z-ARC you control. When you do, it sets any Pendulum from your deck as a scale. However, the more accessible Z-ARC form is Supreme King Z-ARC – Synchro Universe, as it is a Level 12 Synchro made with a Tuner and any DARK Pendulum monster. The reason it is so accessible? Odd-Eyes Solblaze Dragon (YGOrg Translation), a new Level 8 Synchro Tuner that Special Summons any face-up Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck when Special Summoned! Combine this with any Level 4 DARK Pendulum, from Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm to Performapal Skullcrobat Joker, both options you should already be running. As far as Solblaze, that’s just a Pendulum Summon of Harmonizing Magician away!
Alright, so once you make Z-ARC, what do you get from it? Well, once you bring a Z-ARC to the board, Supreme King Gate Zero prevents you from taking damage. Pendulum Evolution allows that Z-ARC to attack all monsters the opponent controls, and the turn you summon Z-ARC or any other face-down Pendulum from your Extra Deck, you get to Pendulum Summon a second time. Finally, Supreme King Dragon Lightwurm becomes a serious threat that can Special Summon itself from the Pendulum Zone, then Synchro or Xyz Summon during the opponent’s turn. This effect is extremely potent when combined with Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing or even Chaos Angel!
