I would complain about the type lock, but honestly it’s deserved. She’s just too generically abusable otherwise, even with the effects fused.

      • L Z on March 24, 2024 8:35 am

So cyber Dragon can make use of her once more!

      • MystikX on March 24, 2024 11:42 am

Not just the Type lock, but also the timing of when you summon the monster from Deck. Used to be a separate effect you would activate, now it’s part of the effect where you give your opponent a monster from your hand.

      • The Toymaker's Funtime on March 24, 2024 1:17 pm

Not to mention, you cannot abuse the monsters you summon to either side of the field anymore, especially on opponent’s side of the field. Want to summon a floodgate to your opponent’s field with Summon Sorceress and lock your opponent from playing the game? Too bad. That monster’s effects are negated.

      • Des on March 24, 2024 4:44 pm

Honestly, I prefer that the monster it Summons from hand has its effects neg’d, otherwise we’d be stuck Iblee and Ido locking people like it was Branded/Despia all over again. Floodgates in some cases are a necessary evil, but when it comes to particular Floodgates which prevent your opponent from Summoning monsters period, that just kind of sucks, so I’m glad that the monster it Summons from hand is with negated effects, but I wished it was still two different effects with the restrictions on this errata.

Infernity Launcher TCG Konami please 🙏

Supreme King starving Venom 🙁 unlimited for tcg

      • Kalethegod on March 24, 2024 3:50 pm

You must not have been around when that card was an ftk enabler. No.

      • Kurioca Kurintiano on March 25, 2024 10:59 am

Pendulum is trash, electrumite made the FTK so consistent, Supreme King starving venom at 1 in tcg would be pretty cool, i’m with Steve

      • Anon on March 25, 2024 8:48 pm

SKSV could be at 3 as could Electrumite and literally nothing would happen.

    4. NeoArkadia on March 24, 2024 8:42 am

It’s rest of the turn, a secondary staff member with more clarity on the matter checked.

I translated fairly literally, the Japanese is a bit vague on this.

I can play Vendread link spam again

    6. TransactionRollbackInGY on March 24, 2024 8:44 am

No. It only said it what type of nonster you ve summoned in the deck will lock you. Like summoning Armageddon Knight so it locks you into.
…wait a minute. Now i get it. The moment you summoned her, youve lock youself to spellcasters.

Bruh they literally made her Spellcaster support and not generic.

    7. kao on March 24, 2024 8:45 am

yeah, going by that wording, it would lock you to spellcaster but its gotta be some kind of typo that was made while trying to hard to errata the thing this that hard, otherwise they’d just use “for the rest of the turn” as they usually do

    8. Diamond Dude YGO on March 24, 2024 9:18 am

Are we sure that’s the correct effect on Summon Sorc?

When I tried to translate it in several different tools (including Google Translate), it says it locks you for the entire turn, not just after the summon from deck.

      • Enmanuell on March 24, 2024 9:22 am

Me too….the lock I guees that is “the entire turn”…. then, now its only Spellcaster support

      • LethalJoke on March 24, 2024 9:29 am

tbh they’d write “spellcaster” and not “the same type” if that was the case

      • Snow on March 24, 2024 10:01 am

        @LethalJoke

Not necessarily, due to DNA surgery rulings. If DNA surgery is applying and you Special Summon, Summon Sorceress, you are considered to have Special Summoned the Type declared by DNA Surgery, not the Type that monster was before it was summoned.

      • LethalJoke on March 24, 2024 10:11 am

I didn’t know that DNA Surgery worked like that with “retroactive locks”

      • theroonco on March 24, 2024 1:35 pm

So Summon Sorc no longer forces you to summon the second monster to a Linked Zone, that’s an neat concession.

      • N on March 24, 2024 2:52 pm

After Arc mistranslated Releaslayer and Sevens Road Ultima Witch yesterday for Rush, best to err on the side of caution. I’d go with the Yugipedia translation for now but there is currently none.

      • George on March 24, 2024 4:34 pm

The translation here is very much correct, given how these kinds of wordings in past effects have been specified to work (through OCG rulings) and localized to the TCG (with “for the rest of the turn”, save for maybe a couple exceptions like S:P). How about we show a bit more trust to the people that have been doing this for way longer and know the trade way more than we do?

    9. LethalJoke on March 24, 2024 10:06 am

I didn’t know that DNA Surgery worked like that with “retroactive locks”

    10. Nolan on March 24, 2024 10:21 am

The Japanese says clearly, the turn you use this effect you cannot SS monsters except for the type of the monster Special Summoned

      • Dan on March 24, 2024 5:13 pm

        Apparently not clearly enough

      • Name* on March 24, 2024 6:56 pm

Yeah, even the translation on the site says this. Yugioh players 🤝🏿 not reading.

    11. Nonk on March 24, 2024 10:30 am

Wait the last restriction’s Japanese wording has something in common more with the restriction of let’s say, pot of duality than nadhir servant. Is it really the rest of the turn and not the whole turn?

    12. ... on March 24, 2024 10:40 am

      That’s not butterfly dagger elma

      Change of Heart to 3.

Man, what a time to be alive

    14. Federplayer on March 24, 2024 11:31 am

Even having the 4 adult dragon rulers back is historic, just a few years ago we thought some of them would remain banned forever.

    15. Ehs on March 24, 2024 1:29 pm

Semi limiting SP is such an OCG move lol

    16. Thomas Votik on March 24, 2024 1:50 pm

Fire King? Are you effing kidding me? It’s not even good compared to other monsters that have 23 effects and negation in their text. Screw you Konami, I will play whatever cards I want. You’re stupid.

    17. Dobrev on March 24, 2024 2:42 pm

We need Simorgh link 3 to 3 again and divine wind of m. Valley to 3.

These cards have been rotting on the ban list for no reason, especially after statue has been banned.

    18. UFO Turtle on March 24, 2024 3:33 pm

For those like me, who couldn’t remember the pre-errata text, here’s Summon Sorceress’ original effect in case you want to compare what’s changed:

2+ monsters with the same Type, except Tokens
If this card is Link Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 monster from your hand in Defense Position, to your opponent’s zone this card points to. You can target 1 face-up monster this card points to; Special Summon 1 monster from your Deck in Defense Position, with the same Type as that monster, to a zone this card points to, but negate its effects. You can only use this effect of “Summon Sorceress” once per turn.

    19. Boi on March 24, 2024 4:04 pm

Why is s:p to 2? I’ve been looking and can’t find a single deck that plays it at three. Utterly useless hit Konami.

      • Anon on March 25, 2024 8:50 pm

It’s the people on Konami’s side politely telling people to offload their copies while the card is still worth something.

    20. ScionStorm on March 24, 2024 4:31 pm

Aw dammit. I wanted an actual old Forbidden card to get its Errata. Something that’s been on the list for a really long time. Oh well.

    21. Orion on March 24, 2024 4:53 pm

AH YES FINALLY A NEW TARGET FOR I:P !!! PUPPET LOCK MY OPPONENT IS NOW MORE VIABLE THANKS KONAMI

      • Jibaku on March 24, 2024 5:59 pm

        No

    22. Name* on March 24, 2024 7:04 pm

For those confused, the translated source says: During the turn that a monster is Special Summoned from the Deck using this effect, you can only Special Summon monsters that have the same original type as the monster that was Special Summoned from the Deck.

How the heck are you gonna be turn locked if you haven’t even use the effect yet? Come on now, y’all, it’s not hard to understand this. In other words, you can play normally, then go into this, use the effect, THEN you get type locked. If it couldn’t be used at all if you summoned other types prior, then this would be one of the dumbest errata in history.

      • Federplayer on March 24, 2024 7:33 pm

You talk as if Konami didn’t make dumb erratas like this before. Remember Chaos Emperor Dragon? It now locks you the entire turn out of other effects. This is the same: if you summoned something of a different type before, you’re just blocked from using Sorceress’ effect, she becomes a vanilla.

      • Name** on March 25, 2024 4:12 am

“During the turn” requires before and after using the effect, like Pot of Duality preventing Special Summons or Branded Fusion locking into Fusions.
If your translation is correct then you would be locked before, and since Summon Sorc is a Spellcaster while you Special Summon her that same turn, the Special Summon from the Deck would have to be a Spellcaster as well.

But I believe the actual translation is “for the rest of this turn”, which works as you say. BTW it’s weird you call people out when you don’t know something as fundamental as this.

      • Dark Armed Drytron on March 25, 2024 8:29 am

It’s weird to see someone cry in broken English. I bet this dude loves to correct someone’s grammar right away when he sees it in the comment threads or smth.

    23. mataaitai on March 26, 2024 11:43 am

Just throwing in my two cents. I can read Japanese and the new Summon Sorceress says that you can’t summon any monster type other than the one you summoned from the deck during the TURN you activate this effect. You’re basically spellcaster locked for the entire turn, even before you summon her.

      • mataaitai on April 6, 2024 9:23 am

I meant to post this earlier (if anyone is still looking for clarification), but I realized that the new Summon Sorceress is actually worded like TYPHON rather than a card like Transcode Talker (The text says 特殊召喚したターン instead of 特殊召喚するターン). Because of this, the translation being “for the rest of the turn” is correct. Sorry!
