One supposes the draw of making it an actual card was too strong.

The meme is dead
Of course they made this Level 7 so you can’t summon it with String.
Now, all Dark Galaxy is Mist
Mist=otes
Everybody is
I feel like this has become like the Worm “Lung is Dragon, you are now Asian” meme
I knew they were going to reveal something that would help bring out Dark Matter Enigmata in Dark Meister’s Deck. However, I didn’t expect it to be Dark Matter Mist, the recurring one among the Darkmen.
Now any DARK Galaxy can turn Dark Matter Mist with this Boss Monster for Fusion Summon. Interestingly, the Stats of this Monster are very similar to Sevens Road Magician (especially the ATK)
And just like that, the coolest gimmick to this deck vanished and with it my interest…
Technically, the Deck still has a gimmick: you’re not going to use all Dark Matter Monsters in a single Deck.
Now you have three options:
1) Stick to the Dark Matter Enigmata’s strategy and only use those Dark Matter Monsters of Level 5 or lower.
2) Stick to the Contact Fusion strategy that Level 7 Dark Matter Boss Monsters offer.
3) Stick to being a hybrid DARK Galaxy with Voidvelgr to get the most out of the combination.
They could’ve at least made it a cool boss monster or something, =/
Given it’s been nothing but Fusion Material fodder (technically) this whole time, it actually makes sense that it wouldn’t be anything THAT big, though I do agree that it would’ve been nice if it did a little bit more like something involving Set cards – the other gimmick Dark Matter has been utilizing.
I hate it.
Not because it’s a bad card but because it’s existence invalidates one of the major gimmicks of Dark Matter cards and big flavor win.
The Dark Matter monsters don’t turn into dark mist of space dust but just transform into cheap copy of Sevens Road Magician.
I like the idea of Mist only being used by the Emperor but how Konami went about it was awful. Dark Matter has up to this point focused on supporting Level 5 monsters and having their weaker monsters be treated as Mist to generate hand/field advantage and fuse into Enigmata or Sieger.
Not only is Mist a Level 7 but you need the other Level 7 Dragon on the field as well for it to Special Summon itself. And as Mist isn’t a Level 5 you can’t cheese it out with Deadcheer nor String. Plus Contact Wyvern is the only in series way to summon Dragon from the GY, but unfortunately you have to Tribute Summon Wyvern just to do so defeating the whole point of Mist being the glue holding the Deck together. Mist doesn’t initiate the Fusion Summon. It doesn’t add a resource from your GY to your hand. It doesn’t revive another monster. It doesn’t mill. It doesn’t draw. The only good thing Mist and Dragon have is that they give the Deck access to the Level 7 staple engine, but while Dragon can do more than just be a Ship, Resolve, or 7 Shift target, Mist unfortunately cannot.
The whole Mist deliberately being an unprinted card was something the community invented, but we knew it was too iconic not to be printed.
I’ve been waiting for this!
Guess it is good for the fusion fodder for the deck’s fusion monsters, right? At least there is the card by name, I guess that’s a responce from the recent backlash…
Dark Matter Mist as a card was probably planned long before the first episode of Season 3 aired.
Thanks, Author
I think they’re trying to differentiate Dark Meister’s version of Dark matter from the Darkmen version but right now it’s still missing something, and as a result you have a bit of a mishmash between DMD and the other Dark Matter cards
Now don’t ask me why since I have no basis for this, but I feel they might introduce a new fusion for Dark Matter Dragon that uses it and 2 Mists as material as that something.
Anyways, it reminds me of the Harpies deck [Mai Valentine used in both manga and anime]… She resembles Harpie Lady… Only in dark form… And her attribute is dark, rather than wind. Good for fusion fodder, I guess. She is lvl 7, while others are mostly lvl 5…
