For reasons explained, Time Wizard is now an accurate mirror of the past again, and it brought a friend.
Q: · What are the rules for a Time Wizard Tournament? *Updated*
A: Time Wizard events use the available Cards, Forbidden & Limited List, rule regarding drawing on the first turn, and the Dueling Field of the selected Time Wizard format.
*NEW* Time Wizard Events will use the Game Mechanics and card text of the era in question at the NAWCQ 2025. (This is an update to an earlier FAQ. In the future, we will offer the TCG version of Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL‘s Time Travel format, which uses current mechanics/card texts but older card pools. Both Time Wizard and Time Travel will be offered at the OTS level.)
There will primarily be three Time Wizard formats offered as Public Events at the North America WCQ 2025
The first format will use the April 2014 Forbidden and Limited List, and the last legal set will be Realm of Light Structure Deck. This will be the “April 2014” format Time Wizard event. (This format will be used for the Time Wizard ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! Public Event)
The second format will use the March 2010 Forbidden and Limited List, and the last legal set will be Duelist Pack: Kaiba. This will be the “April 2010” format Time Wizard event.
The third format will use the April 2005 Forbidden and Limited List, and the last legal set will be Dark Beginnings 2. This will be the “July 2005” format Time Wizard event.
While these three formats will be the primary formats offered, they aren’t the only formats possible! If you and your friends would like to play a different format, come chat with event staff at Public Events to get your preferred format started!

why are yugi boomers like this
You sir are wild
Why would you even mention Yugi Boomers?
Brain damage.
Even modern players didn’t like the change. What are you, 12?
dude this was an unpopular change everywhere, go cry at a wall or something
Bet you can’t even buy a booster box kid 😭
Sigh I understand the course correct, but I hate that the people didn’t realize the change was to encourage new participants instead of screwing up a fan favorite format that fans felt they had a right to dictate over the company who makes actual money from these events🤷♂️
Issues with this line of thinking, though:
People are playing Yugioh. If they’re already invested in it then they know that it takes a bit of learning, old formats aren’t any different.
Also: the changes made by sticking to errata’d cards and modern rulings in Edison specifically means that the dominant deck would likely be some variation of Blackwing focused on turboing out floodgates and it wouldn’t even be close.
Issue with your line of thought:
It’s meant to attract new players, not players already invested in this. Plz respond to what I said, since you assume everyone is invested, knows the formats, has decent grasp, etc. when maybe they see it in a card store know almost nothing and want to try because it’s fun.
For the also part: yes that’s the point since that was supposed to be this format with that change (that now is the time travel format). You and fans might not like the change in deck representation but it’s Konami’s choice for their format (not a fan directed ones). If you liked the old formats, you’d still play them in your own time regardless as that’s why Konami started to offer this in the first place.
Every format has different rules to follow and get used to. Luckily, the core of the game is still the same throughout. There are plenty of players and judges that are knowledgeable and dedicated to them which doesn’t warrant these changes unlike OCG where UTW isn’t that popular nor profitable.
They already do make money by reprints and attendance at side events.
joshua Schmidt in shambles idk didn’t watch his video I’m just yapping
this is good tho, bully companies more
Anybody that participated in this lame format are the reasons why the game became what they hate. Basically they self inflicted the game problems.
Look at what being inbred has done to you.
^What subway surfer youtube shorts does to a mf’s brain
Even beyond the Yugiboomer v. modern player drama that manages to force it’s way into every discussion about this goddamn game? This was the right move on Konami’s part, and probably what they should’ve done in the first place.
If the objective was so it can be used in MD the just do the whole modern rules shtick in master duel and leave it at that lawl yugioh is already an insanely complex game do they really think players/judges can not learn different format rulings?
Bullying companies works.
They almost had skill in their format for once thank God they don’t have to learn the rules their brains would implode
