no it can summon over itself, the idea is to use second eff and later bring it back with equip spell and summon it again on top of itself since the second eff is not opt

Combining both Mermail and Atlanteans into 1 wave of legacy support is like having your birthday on Christmas and only getting 1 gift
If I remember correctly, Mermail also came out on Vice’s pack, just like how the Destruction pack have Lightsworn cuz they came out on Light of Destruction
They were played as one deck anyway + lore-wise are connected to each other. Having cards actually reflecting it is cool.
Poseidra is literally Abyssgaios
Imagine playing both in 1 deck.
I mean… You can play them in 1 deck, but it will *bricked* more though. And *most* water xyz builds don’t actually run Mermails at all. Especially the ones in TCG or MD.
Not even DL (Duel Links) even have a water xyz build mix both atlanteans and mermails in 1 deck. Either you play one or the other. Both are fun decks on their own, not gonna lie.

In Duel Links, they are. Not sure, it was on purpose, but… Since most water xyz decks, I’ve seen in Duel Links or Master Duel are typically don’t play Mermails, as they mostly focusing on playing rank 3, 4 and 5 xyz monsters.
Although, they might running at least 2 copies of Eria the Water Channeler, she’s a generic water searcher by the way. By discarding her, she’ll search any water monsters from the deck, and bring it to the hand. So, she’s an extender technically.
Not so sure the rank 7 xyz ever seen play in water xyz… Never mind any water attribute decks, (Dinomist anyone? One of my favorite archetype). If it does, it would probadly on Mermails. As they don’t really Atlantians in their core builds, as they have their own cards that do similar things? Forgot the names, but their arts are stunning for sure😁.
I love cards’ arts, even MTG and Pokemon TCG, which I would never ever play, (they are too complicated for me, will drain another 30 yrs off me, just to learn them. But, not gonna lie, but their artworks are stunning af😅😁😁). Unlike ChaosMax who would complain over artworks of the cards🤣, I don’t. If I did, I would keep it to myself. Better that way right?
Actually, back to the actual topic😅… To be fair, as a deck, it would be weird to play both, as it cause them to *bricked* even more… Mostly due to Mermails’ high level monsters, (which I know, can be special summon from the hand, by discarding anywhere from 1-3 cards from the hand, thanks MD). Ever play either Mermails or Atlantians or both and they bricked mid-duel? That certainly far from fun, never mind hilarious. At least for your opponent😅.

It feels incomplete. Structure Deck R tend to have about 7 new cards. I am guessing guessing they will receive a second wave of support next core set.
With that being said, now with the blue eyes structure deck being released too, only dragons collide and Blitzkrieg of the mechlight dragons remain as zexal structure decks to receive support.
It’s standard procedure to receive 5 new cards of support in a core set.
The new Neptabyss looks odd, the bottom half seems too big.

true, this is what i found from the design
so basically this guy is Neptabyss, fused with Poseidra…wearing pieces of the 3 Abyss-Scale armors…while holding the Abyss-Sting weapon…but still has no idea where the steel wings came from…they are none from the 3 archetypes involved in this lore (Atlantean/Mermails/Fire Kings)
These seem more like the cards that were sitting on the shelf after being prepared for the 2019 Structure Deck Poll in case “Atlantean/Mermail” somehow won.

Abyssrhine the Atlantean Spirit can summon Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth from the deck 0_0 Fill your board while triggering another effect. If she didn’t limit your extradeck to water I feel like Coelacanth would be ban worthy.
