Yeah, it was the format that has 0 link monsters in it that killed the monster that requires a link monster to function.
Why is it, looking at Mercurium, that the first place my brain takes me is a dull “oh no, Rank 10 now has an Acid Golem”?
Like, yes, sure, it’s not going to be preventing the opponent from Special Summoning, but it IS going to be doing a lot of damage for being placed on their field with no mats left.

True, on one’s own turn it could simply get turned into a Link Material if it’s in danger of starting to burn you, though I was more thinking about how it fires off in THE End Phase rather than YOUR End Phase, and so if it runs out of mats it’s possible to throw it onto the enemy field for 3k damage.
Doesn’t have the lockdown potential of Acid Golem, it’s true, but the damage is a fair bit more immediate once it gets going . . . and if summoned off two mats, it’s going to end up at no mats left the moment your turn rolls around again.
(Yes, yes, I get you’re raising that point as a minus, but honestly that point’s probably more of a plus since if you don’t have the means to force it upon your opponent by the time its stomach empties you aren’t gonna be left holding the bag.)
Slight self-correction: if made with 2 mats, it runs out on your turn if you don’t feed it when it’s first summoned; if you DO feed him, he runs out at the opponent’s turn . . . so, that’s something to keep in mind when choosing to use its on-summon effect or not (as well as considering how many mats to use in the first place — an odd number of on-field mats may be ideal!).

Mercurium? I dunno, I’d say it DOES do SOMETHING — a sizable chunk of burn.
Thinking about it, if it’s in a deck that can shrug off or even profit off of effect damage, it could possibly be beneficial to choose to take damage to keep some of its mats on, but if not . . . it’s probably worth more to have a means to foist the fella onto your foes once there’s no more mats on ‘im — it might get linked off afterwards, but it’s at least going to deal SOME damage before then.

So Fallen of the White Dragon keeps it name, but we couldn’t do Ecclesia and the Black Dragon. Then Shackled, instead of Chain bound??? The cards are still cool, but the name changes just throw me off a little

I think all of them except Loader/Borrelshroud and the new topologic(does that count?) are super or common.
