Introducing…
Takahashi Kazuki demonstrated exceptional talent not only as a mangka but as a “character designer”, a “game creator”, and a “monster designer”. His works have not only had a profound impact on the manga world but also the gaming industry.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the start of “Yu-Gi-Oh!”, we are holding our first-ever original artwork exhibition.
From what wellspring of imagination did these works — Which continue to be beloved across the world– originate…?
By exploring his works such as “Yu-Gi-Oh!”, this exhibition explores the series’ origins while showcasing a vast collection of rare original hand-drawn artwork, production materials created during the concept stage, and rough illustrations of characters and monsters.
We invite you to come to the venue and experience the one-of-a-kind world created by Takahashi Kazuki.
Takahashi Kazuki
1961-2022. Born in Tokyo. In 1990, he made his Jump debut with “闘輝王の鷹” (Tokio no Taka) in Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 Special Issue: Summer Special. The manga “Yu-Gi-Oh!” (Shueisha; Bunk Comic Version: 22 Volumes) began serialization in Issue 42 of “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 1996. The Series has sold over 44 million copies in total (including digital editions) as of May 2026. It continued to entertain fans until the series concluded in Issue 15 of 2004. In 1999, the card game “Magic & Wizards”, which appeared in the comic, was released as the “Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game: Duel Monsters”. In 2000, the animated TV adaptation of the original comic, “Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters” began. Even after the series ended, production of spin-off series continued, and the eighth installment of the franchise “Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!” aired until 2025. And in 2016, Takahashi Kazuki himself served as original creator, screenwriter, character designer and executive producer for the theatrical film “YU-GI-OH! DUEL MONSTERS”. In 2013 he published the special one-shot manga “DRUMP” in Issue 49 of “Weekly Shonen Jump” and in issues 46 to 52 of the same magazine in 2018, he serialized the short-run manga “THE COMIQ”.
