    [Reference Art] Mimighoul Archfiend

    NessBy NessAugust 10, 20245 Comments

    Frieren-sama, that’s obviously a…

    Mimighoul Archfiend
    Full art:

    Description:

“It palms off suspicious items that no one has seen before”
Archfiend: “You want these, don’t you?”

    Suspicious items:

    “Suspicious ring” and “Suspicious jewel”

    “Suspicious bracelet”

    Angry:

Archfiend: “Huh!? They are not lame! You are talking nonsense!”
“If you say you don’t want them, or you call them lame, it gets angry and starts a fight, so please be polite”

    Side and bottom view:

    Back view:

    Top view:

    Left: “Front side”
    Right: “Back side”

    Key:

    Chain:

Top left: “It’s the type that is not closed by its main body, but rather by a chain”
    Chain: “The chain is x-shaped”
    Bottom: “Floats a little”

    Movement:

“Relocates by moving around while people aren’t looking”

    Inside:

    Inside: “Space inside the chest”
Bottom right: “Every now and then, there are items that are actually great”

    Source.

TL note: The OCG name for this card is revealed with this reference art. It’s ミミグル・デーモン: The latter part being the usual “Daemon” that is localized as the Archfiend theme, and the first part being “Mimigul” (not quite the spelling for Ghoul).

It’s Archfiend’s hand-crafted artisanal items. You get the wrong idea when they say he’s ‘crafty’. But sadly, Etsy does not exist in his world.

Hold up why does a tcg exclusive have reference art written in Japanese? I’d always thought they were created exclusively by the TCG branch but maybe not

I can’t tell you if it’s always been the case or if it has been a global change since the “World Premiere” name swap; but yes, it seems World Premiere/TCG-Exclusive archetypes start their designing process in the OCG, names/concept/card effect/rulings and all. Hence why the term “World Premiere”.

If I remember correctly from concept art books, only one VRAINS/Rush-era has had concept art written with English indications: Dream Mirror. Kozmo is also a notorious archetype for having a English-speaking artist, so possibly designed in the TCG territories first as well.

just gave me an idea for a future card

      Mimighoul Key-Ring
      – Quick-Play Spell
Target 1 “Mimighoul” Flip Monster in your deck and set it in Face-Down Defense Position on your opponent’s side of the field. When this card’s effect resolves, flip 1 face-down monster on your opponent’s side of the field face up. You can only use the effect of “Mimighoul Key” once per turn.

      (wording may vary)
