Take up arms my Wyrm brethren!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another profile, this time featuring two more Wyrm archetypes combined! The Swordsoul archetype only recently got fleshed out with support in Burst of Destiny, and it revolves around creating Level 4 Token Tuner monsters to synchro summon with! With a combination of Level 4 and Level 6 Wyrms, this archetype has plenty of great starters and combo potential. Mo Ye, the Swordsoul Swordmaster (YGOrg Translation) is the primary starter for the theme, revealing a Wyrm or Swordsoul card whenever it is summoned gives you your tuner Token. This unlocks an initial Level 8 Synchro Summon, such as going into Chi Xiao, the Swordsoul Grand Swordmaster (YGOrg Translation). Chi Xiao searches a Swordsoul card upon summon, and Mo Ye draws a card when used for a Synchro Summon, so this play even gives you more advantage than you began! This theme also has a strong Level 10 boss Synchro monster in the form of Cheng Ying, the Swordsoul Grand Duke (YGOrg Translation), which carries removal and protection of its own.
But today’s strategy wouldn’t be super powerful without the second half of the theme – the True King/Draco! And that’s right, we’re only using the Level 9 True Kings today. This part of the deck ensures consistency and access to all of your most important Swordsoul monsters, from Mariamne, the True Dracophoenix tutoring Mo Ye when destroyed, to True King Bahrastos, the Fathomer tutoring Tai A, the Swordsoul Swordmaster (YGOrg Translation). Since all of these True Kings are level 9, this also unlocks Rank 9 Xyz Summons, such as for Sacred Tree Beast, Hyperyton or Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir. At the end of the day, this unique combination of high-ranked Xyz monsters and a wide Synchro suite gives this hybrid strategy a deliberate approach to facing any enemy. Kneel before the throne of the True Kings and point their Swordsouls to a brighter future!
