This is bait (doll).
Ruling updates on the official OCG database from October.
UPDATED ENTRIES
“What happens if the effect of Bait Doll is applied to a card targeted by Trickstar Light Stage?”
Q: I activated the second effect of Trickstar Light Stage this turn. During the same turn, if I activate Bait Doll and target the same Set card, what happens?
A: The targeted card is turned over and checked, but if it is not a Trap Card, it is returned to its previous position and Bait Doll is shuffled into the Deck. If the targeted card is a Trap Card, it cannot be activated due to the effect of Trickstar Light Stage, so it is destroyed. In this case, Bait Doll is still shuffled into the Deck by its effect.
“If a monster with the effect of Battleguard Rage applied to it destroys Embodiment of Apophis by battle, what happens?”
Q: If a Warrior monster with the effect of Battleguard Rage applied to it destroys an Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, is the effect “monsters destroyed by battle with it are returned to the hand instead of going to the GY” applied?
A: If a monster with the effect of Battleguard Rage applied to it destroys an Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, Embodiment of Apophis is returned to its owner’s hand instead of being sent to the GY.
“When the effect of Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler resolves, if it is not face-up in the Monster Zone, do I still perform a coin toss?”
Q: If an effect is chained to the activation of the coin toss effect of Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler, so that Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler is not face-up in the Monster Zone when its effect resolves, will the coin toss be performed?
A: Just the coin toss is performed, and the effect finishes resolving. The same applies to the coin tossing effects of the following monsters:
– Arcana Force XVIII – The Moon
– Arcana Force EX – The Dark Ruler
– Arcana Force VI – The Lovers
– Arcana Force III – The Empress
– Arcana Force VII – The Chariot
– Arcana Force 0 – The Fool
– Arcana Force XXI – The World
– Arcana Force XV – The Fiend
– Arcana Force IV – The Emperor
– Arcana Force XIV – Temperance
– Arcana Force I – The Magician
“Can Curse of Royal be chained to the activation of Bait Doll?”
Q: My opponent activated Bait Doll, targeting a Set card in my Spell & Trap Zone. Can I chain Curse of Royal?
A: The effect of Bait Doll checks the targeted Set card when it resolves, and only destroys it if it is a Trap Card whose activation timing is incorrect. At the time Bait Doll is activated, it is not possible yet to determine whether or not the targeted Set card in the Spell & Trap Zone will be destroyed, so Curse of Royal cannot be chained.
“If my opponent controls White Dragon Ninja and I activate Bait Doll, what happens?”
Q: My opponent has White Dragon Ninja face-up in their Monster Zone. In this situation, I activate Bait Doll. If the card targeted by Bait Doll is a Trap Card whose activation timing is incorrect, what happens?
A: When resolving Bait Doll, turn over and check the targeted card. If it is a Trap Card whose activation timing is incorrect, it is destroyed without being forced to activate. In this scenario, since the effect of White Dragon Ninja is applying, the targeted card is not destroyed and remains face-down in the Spell & Trap Zone.
“If a monster Special Summoned by the effect of Dracocension destroys Embodiment of Apophis by battle, what happens?”
Q: If a Wyrm monster that was Special Summoned by the effect of Dracocension destroys an Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, is the effect “any monster destroyed by battle with that monster is shuffled into the Deck instead of going to the Graveyard” applied?
A: If a Wyrm monster that was Special Summoned by the effect of Dracocension destroys an Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, Embodiment of Apophis is returned to its owner’s Deck instead of being sent to the GY.
“Are Dark Jeroid and “Speedroid” monsters considered “roid” monsters?”
Q: Can I use Dark Jeroid, Elemental HERO Necroid Shaman, Magical Android, and Salamangreat Zebroid X that are treated as Machine monsters by the effect of DNA Surgery as Fusion Materials for Barbaroid, the Ultimate Battle Machine, which requires 5 Machine “roid” monsters as materials?
Also, can I activate Supercharge if the only monsters in my Monster Zone are Hi-Speedroid Kendama or Meteor Rush – Monochroid? Can I add Speedroid Terrortop from my Deck to my hand by the first effect of Megaroid City?
A: Yes, you can do all of these. (Dark Jeroid, Elemental HERO Necroid Shaman, Magical Android, Salamangreat Zebroid X, Meteor Rush – Monochroid, and “Speedroid” monsters are all considered “roid” monsters.)
The following monsters are also “roid” monsters:
– Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice
– Speedroid Ohajikid
– Speedroid Razorang
– Speedroid Taketomborg
– Speedroid Double Yoyo
– Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice
– Speedroid Menko
– Speedroid Den-Den Daiko Duke
– Speedroid Pachingo-Kart
– Speedroid Gum Prize
– Speedroid Horse Stilts
– Speedroid Maliciousmagnet
– Speedroid Skull Marbles
– Speedroid Rubberband Plane
– Speedroid Hexasaucer
– Speedroid CarTurbo
– Speedroid Block-n-Roll
– Speedroid Fuki-Modoshi Piper
– Speedroid Ultra Hound
– Speedroid Passinglider
– Speedroid Dominobutterfly
– Speedroid Marble Machine
– Speedroid Clackernel
– Speedroid Wing Synchron
– Hi-Speedroid Hagoita
– Hi-Speedroid Puzzle
– Hi-Speedroid Kitedrake
– Hi-Speedroid Clear Wing Rider
– Hi-Speedroid Cork Shooter
– Hi-Speedroid Glider 2
– Hi-Speedroid Rubber Band Shooter
“If the card activation of Geartown or Ancient Gear Fortress is negated and it is sent to the GY, can I still activate its effect?”
Q: If the activation of Geartown is negated by the effect of Borreload Savage Dragon and it is sent to the GY, can its effect be activated? Also, if the activation of Geartown or Ancient Gear Fortress is negated by the effect of Baronne de Fleur, and it is destroyed and sent to the GY, can its effect be activated?
A: If the activation of a Spell/Trap Card is negated by the effect of Borreload Savage Dragon, that Spell/Trap Card is sent to the GY, but it was not destroyed, so the effect of Geartown cannot be activated.
If the activation of Geartown is negated by the effect of Baronne de Fleur and it is destroyed, the effect of Geartown can be activated after the current Chain resolves.
Also, if the activation of Ancient Gear Fortress is negated and it is destroyed, the destroyed Ancient Gear Fortress is not treated as having been destroyed while in the Spell & Trap Zone, so its last effect cannot be activated.
“When activating the third effect of Cyberdarkness Dragon, can I send a face-down Monster Card from my Spell & Trap Zone to the GY as cost?”
Q: I have a face-down Monster Card in my Spell & Trap Zone due to activating the effect of Relinquished. In this situation, can I send the face-down Monster Card from my Spell & Trap Zone to the GY as cost of activating the third effect of Cyberdarkness Dragon?
A: Yes, you can. A monster equipped by the effect of Relinquished is treated as an Equip Card even if it was in face-down Defense Position.
Also, when a Pendulum Monster Card would be sent from the field to the GY, it is added face-up to the Extra Deck instead, so you cannot send a Pendulum Monster Card in your Spell & Trap Zone to the GY as the cost of activating the effect of Cyberdarkness Dragon (even if it is face-down).
However, if the Continuous Effect of G.B. Hunter is applying, you can send Pendulum Monster Cards from the field to the GY, so you can send a Pendulum Monster Card from your Spell & Trap Zone to the GY as the cost of activating the effect of Cyberdarkness Dragon.
“If my opponent controls a Token and other cards, can I activate Evenly Matched?”
Q: My opponent controls 4 Sheep Tokens Special Summoned by the effect of Scapegoat, and a Panther Warrior. In this situation, if the only card I control is a Set Evenly Matched, can I activate it?
A: Yes, you can. In this case, since Tokens cannot be banished face-down, your opponent can only choose Panther Warrior as a card to banish face-down. (The 4 Sheep Tokens remain in the Monster Zone.)
Also, if you have a face-up “Kashtira” Xyz Monster in your Monster Zone and your opponent controls 4 Sheep Tokens and a Panther Warrior, and you activate Kashtira Big Bang, your opponent only has to banish Panther Warrior face-down.
“When I Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future, what happens to the Xyz Materials attached to the Xyz Monsters used as materials?”
Q: I Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future, using a Gagaga Cowboy with 1 Xyz Material and a Gagaga Samurai with 2 Xyz Materials. In this case, how many Xyz Materials will Number F0: Utopic Future have?
A: Unlike when you Xyz Summon Number C39: Utopia Ray using Number 39: Utopia as the material, or the effect of Rank-Up-Magic Barian’s Force that allows you to Xyz Summon by using the targeted monster as material, when you Xyz Summon Number F0: Utopic Future, you do so as with any normal Xyz Summon using only the listed required materials (in this case, 2 Xyz Monsters with the same Rank other than “Number” monsters).
In this scenario, since Gagaga Cowboy and Gagaga Samurai were the monsters used as materials for Number F0: Utopic Future, Number F0: Utopic Future will have those 2 monsters as Xyz Materials. The Xyz Materials that Gagaga Cowboy and Gagaga Samurai each had do not become Xyz Materials on Number F0: Utopic Future, and are sent to the GY.
The same applies to Exosisters Magnifica and Twins of the Eclipse.
“If I Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo using Formud Skipper as material, can I activate the second effect of Salamangreat Roar?”
Q: I activated the effect of Formud Skipper and revealed Salamangreat Heatleo from my Extra Deck. In this situation, if I Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo using 3 monsters including that Formud Skipper as materials, can I activate the effect of Salamangreat Roar in my GY?
A: Yes, you can. In this scenario, since a Link Summon was performed using Formud Skipper treated as Salamangreat Heatleo, a “Salamangreat” Link Monster was Link Summoned using a monster with its same name as material.
The same applies if you Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo using a Template Skipper that banished a Salamangreat Heatleo with its effect as material.
“If a monster is Fusion Summoned using the effect of Supreme King’s Castle or Evil HERO Infernal Rider, is it treated as having been properly Special Summoned?”
Q: My Evil HERO Malicious Bane is in the GY after I applied the effect of Supreme King’s Castle and Fusion Summoned it using Polymerization. In this situation, can I activate Double Hero Attack targeting that Evil HERO Malicious Bane, and Special Summon it?
A: Yes, you can. If you Fusion Summon Evil HERO Malicious Bane by applying the effect of Supreme King’s Castle, it is treated as having been properly Special Summoned.
Similarly, an “Evil HERO” Fusion Monster Fusion Summoned by applying the second effect of Evil HERO Infernal Rider is treated as having been properly Special Summoned, so it can be Special Summoned using the effect of Double Hero Attack.
“If I Link Summon a “Marincess” monster using a Formud Skipper that revealed Marincess Crystal Heart with its effect as material, will the effect of Marincess Battle Ocean apply to it?”
Q: I activated the effect of Formud Skipper and revealed Marincess Crystal Heart from my Extra Deck. In this situation, if I Link Summon Marincess Wonder Heart using that Formud Skipper and another “Marincess” monster as materials, does the effect of Marincess Battle Ocean that makes that Link Summoned monster unaffected by my opponent’s card effects apply?
A: Yes, it does. In this scenario, the Link Summon was performed using Formud Skipper that was treated as Marincess Crystal Heart. (The Link Summoned Marincess Wonder Heart is treated as having used Marincess Crystal Heart as material.)
The same applies if you Link Summon a “Marincess” monster using a Template Skipper that banished Marincess Crystal Heart with its effect as material.
“If Eternal Soul is destroyed by an effect chained to its card activation, will its effect activate?”
Q:
(A) If an Eternal Soul in the Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed by the effect of Mystical Space Typhoon that was chained to Eternal Soul’s card activation, does the effect “If this face-up card leaves the field: Destroy all monsters you control” activate?
(B) If the activation of Eternal Soul is negated by the effect of Baronne de Fleur that was chained to Eternal Soul’s card activation, does the effect “If this face-up card leaves the field: Destroy all monsters you control” activate?
A:
(A) Since Eternal Soul left the field while face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone, its effect activates.
(B) Its effect does not activate. If a Spell/Trap Card’s initial activation is negated, that Spell/Trap is not considered to have been sent from the Spell & Trap Zone to the GY.
Similarly, if the card activation of the following Spell/Trap Cards is negated, they are not considered to have been sent from the field to the GY, so their respective effects cannot be activated:
– True Light
– Disciples of the True Dracophoenix
– True Draco Heritage
– True Draco Apocalypse
– True King’s Return
– Fire Formation – Ingen
– Fire Formation – Domei
– Magicians’ Combination
– Ogdoadic Hollow
– Obliterate!!!
– Mathmech Billionblade Nayuta
– Ancient Warriors Saga – Three Visits
– Ancient Warriors Saga – East-by-South Winds
– Cursed Eldland
– Fleuret de Fleur
– Life Extreme

“Can I activate the effect of Angel Statue – Azurune while the effect of Dimensional Fissure is applying?”
Q: If the effects of Dimensional Fissure, Different Dimension Ground, or Ryu-Ge Ascension Gate of Wyrmhaze are applying when my opponent tries to Special Summon a monster, can I activate the effect of Angel Statue – Azurune to negate the Special Summon?
A: Yes, you can.
“If a monster with an original ATK of less than 3000 is Special Summoned using the effect of Fiendsmith’s Agnumday, can I activate the effect of Heart of the Blue-Eyes?”
Q: My opponent activated the effect of Fiendsmith’s Agnumday, targeting a monster with 1500 ATK in their GY. In that case, since the effects of the equipped Fiendsmith’s Agnumday will apply to the Special Summoned monster, so that its ATK becomes 3300, can I activate the last effect of Heart of the Blue-Eyes?
A: No, you cannot.
“What happens if Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon and Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon are both on the field?”
Q: Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon and Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon are both face-up in my Monster Zone, and their respective Continuous Effects are applying. In this situation, my opponent activates Raigeki, but Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon is not destroyed due to the effect of Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon, and Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon is not destroyed due to the effect of Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon. When my opponent activates a second Raigeki, Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon is destroyed, but Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon is again not destroyed due to the effect of Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon. When my opponent activates a third Raigeki, is Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon destroyed?
A: It is not destroyed. When the effect of your opponent’s second Raigeki is applied, Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon was not destroyed due to the effect of Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon, so at this point, the effect of Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon has not been applied to itself yet. Therefore, when the effect of your opponent’s third Raigeki is applied, the effect of Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon is applied to itself.
“If the effect of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is applying, what happens if I Summon a monster that is unaffected by monster effects in Attack Position?”
Q: If the Continuous Effects of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir or Scareclaw Tri-Heart are applying, what happens if I Tribute Summon Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King or Metaltron XII, the True Dracocombatant in Attack Position by Tributing a Monster Card?
A: It will remain in Attack Position.
If the effect of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is applying and the following monsters are Normal or Special Summoned in Attack Position, they will remain in Attack Position.
– Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes
– Zushin the Sleeping Giant
– Numeral Hunter
– Xyz Avenger
– The Legendary Exodia Incarnate
– The Winged Dragon of Ra – Immortal Phoenix
– Ancient Gear Howitzer
– Lyrilusc – Independent Nightingale
– Tatsunoko
– Blackwing Full Armor Master
– Wonky Quartet
– Kikinagashi Fucho
– Paleozoic Anomalocaris
– Paleozoic Opabinia
– Timaeus the Knight of Destiny
– CXyz Simon the Great Moral Leader
– Giant Soldier of Steel
– Raidraptor – Ultimate Falcon
– Raidraptor – Rising Rebellion Falcon
– Performapal Odd-Eyes Metal Claw (Fusion Summoned with the effect of Polymerization)
– The Legendary Fisherman II (Normal or Special Summoned while Umi is on the field)
– Dark Guardian (Special Summoned by the effect of Dark Element)
– Ultra Beetrooper Absolute Hercules (that was Fusion Summoned)
– Geomathmech Final Sigma (Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone)
– Number 59: Crooked Cook (Special Summoned while you control no other cards)
– Number 86: Heroic Champion – Rhongomyniad (with 3 or more Xyz Materials)
– Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus (with 4 or more Xyz Materials with different names)
– Number C62: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon (with Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as a material)
– Raidraptor – Final Fortress Falcon (with a “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster as a material)
“What happens if I cannot perform part of the first effect of Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration when it resolves?”
Q: What happens if the following effects are applying when resolving the first effect of Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration?
– Mistake
– Imperial Iron Wall
– Dimension Fortress Weapon
– Macro Cosmos
A: If the effect of Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration resolves while the effects of Mistake, Imperial Iron Wall, or a Dimension Fortress Weapon Special Summoned by another effect are applying, no part of the effect “Take 3 monsters from your Deck (1 Dinosaur, 1 Sea Serpent, and 1 Wyrm), add 1 of them to your hand, banish 1 other, and send the last to the GY” is applied, and only the part of the effect “you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn, except Dragon, Dinosaur, Sea Serpent, and Wyrm monsters” is applied.
Also, if the effect of Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration resolves while the effect of Macro Cosmos is applying, you still take 3 monsters from your Deck, add 1 of them to your hand, and banish 1 other, but the last monster is also banished, and the part of the effect “you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn, except Dragon, Dinosaur, Sea Serpent, and Wyrm monsters” is applied.
Furthermore, Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration cannot be activated if the effects of Mistake, Imperial Iron Wall, or Dimension Fortress Weapon are already applying, however it can still be activated if the effect of Macro Cosmos is applying.
“Which monsters can I target with Reversal of Fate or Arcana Call?”
Q: Can I activate Reversal of Fate or Arcana Call by targeting the following monsters?
(A) An “Arcana Force” monster that has gained an effect as a result of a coin toss.
(B) An “Arcana Force monster whose effects were negated after it gained an effect as a result of a coin toss.
(C) An “Arcana Force” monster that was changed to face-down Defense Position and flipped face-up again, or temporarily banished and returned to the Monster Zone, after it gained an effect as a result of a coin toss.
(D) An “Arcana Force” monster that gained an effect by applying the effect of Light Barrier rather than as a result of a coin toss.
(E) An “Arcana Force” monster that did not gain an effect as a result of a coin toss because its coin tossing effect was negated.
A: A monster’s effect “gained as a result of a coin toss” refers to an “Arcana Force” monster that gained its effect by actually performing a coin toss, and is face-up in the Monster Zone.
(A) & (B) It can be activated. In either case, the monster gained an effect as a result of a coin toss. Note that Arcana Force V – The Hierophant, Arcana Force XIX – The Sun, and Arcana Force EX – The Chaos Ruler do not gain effects from the coin toss, so these cards cannot be activated by targeting them. (You cannot activate Arcana Call by targeting them in the GY.)
(C), (D), & (E) It cannot be activated. In the case of (C), once the monster is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone, it no longer has its effect gained as a result of a coin toss. In the case of (D) and (E), no coin toss was actually performed, so the monster did not gain an effect as a result of a coin toss, and Reversal of Fate or Arcana Call cannot target that monster.
Furthermore, Reversal of Fate and Arcana Call cannot be activated by chaining to the effect of an “Arcana Force” monster when it is Summoned. (The “Arcana Force” monster whose effect is being activated is not yet a monster that gained an effect as a result of a coin toss.)
“If a Monster Card with the following effects written on it is on the field or in the GY, can I Special Summon Liberator Etho?”
Q: If the following monsters are face-up in my opponent’s Monster Zone, Spell & Trap Zone, or GY, can I Special Summon Liberator Etho using the method written in its text?
(A) Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon
(B) Mathmech Diameter
A: The conditions for Special Summoning Liberator Etho are met with a Monster Card that has an effect written in its own text that activates in the hand or Monster Zone by chaining to another effect. It does not matter whether or not the effect was actually activated or if the current situation allows it to be activated.
(A) It can be Special Summoned. (It does not matter whether or not Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon has Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon as an Xyz Material.) The following monsters also allow Liberator Etho to be Special Summoned, regardless of whether or not they currently have the corresponding effect:
– Phoenix Gearfried
– Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler
– Maha Vailo, Light of the Heavens
– Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio
– Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade
– Number C106: Giant Red Hand
– Tri-Gate Wizard
(B) It cannot be Special Summoned. The “●” effect in Mathmech Diameter’s text is not an effect that Mathmech Diameter itself activates. Also, even if your opponent controls a “Mathmech” monster that was Synchro or Xyz Summoned using Mathmech Diameter as material, the conditions for Special Summoning Liberator Etho have not been met.
Similarly, the conditions for Special Summoning it have not been met with the following monsters:
– Zoodiac Ramram
– Zoodiac Bunnyblast
– Zoodiac Kataroost
– The Weather Painter Rainbow
“Which monsters would allow me to Special Summon Liberator Etho?”
Q: Liberator Etho states “Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or GY) by paying half your LP while your opponent has a Monster Card on their field or GY with an effect that activates in the hand or Monster Zone in response to a card or effect activation”. But for example, which monsters need to be present for it to be Special Summoned?
A: If a Monster Card with a Quick Effect that must be activated from the hand or Monster Zone by chaining to the activation of a monster, Spell, or Trap effect is face-up in your opponent’s Monster Zone or Spell & Trap Zone, or in their GY, the conditions for Special Summoning Liberator Etho have been met.
Examples of monsters that meet this requirement include Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, and Ryzeal Deadnader. In the case of Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, it is its effect “When your opponent activates a card or effect, except “Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju” (Quick Effect): You can remove 2 Kaiju Counters from anywhere on the field; negate the activation, and if you do, banish that card”, and in the case of Ryzeal Deadnader, its “When your opponent activates a card or effect (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it”, that activates in the Monster Zone by chaining to the activation of a card or effect.
Examples of monsters that do not meet the requirement include Effect Veiler, Zoodiac Drident, and Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill. In the case of Effect Veiler and Zoodiac Drident, these are Quick Effects that could be activated as Chain Link 1, so they are not effects that activate in response to a card or effect activation. In the case of Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, it does not apply because its effect is a Trigger Effect.
“If Argostars – Lightning Tydeu is placed in the Spell & Trap Zone by the effect of Enigmaster Packbit, can I activate/apply its effects?”
Q: An Argostars – Lightning Tydeu in my Spell & Trap Zone is Special Summoned to the Monster Zone by its own effect. This Argostars – Lightning Tydeu is then placed in my Spell & Trap Zone again as a Continuous Trap Card by the effect of Enigmaster Packbit.
In this situation, does the effect “Warrior monsters you control gain 500 ATK/DEF” of Argostars – Lightning Tydeu apply? Also, can I activate its effect that Special Summons it again?
A: If Argostars – Lightning Tydeu is placed from the Monster Zone to the Spell & Trap Zone by another card’s effect, such as the effect of Enigmaster Packbit, its effects cannot be applied or activated.
The same applies to Argostars – Swift Capane and Argostars – Slayer Eteo.
“Is Tempura of Chance – EBI considered a card that has a coin tossing effect?”
Q:
(A) If I activate the effect Goddess of Duality that adds a monster from my Deck to my hand that has a coin tossing effect, or if I apply the “● Tails” effect of Arcana Spread, can I choose Tempura of Chance – EBI?
(B) If Tempura of Chance – EBI is face-up in the Monster Zone, or treated as an Equip Spell Card or Continuous Spell Card, can I activate the effect of Arcana Force XIX – The Sun that Special Summons itself from my hand?
A:
(A) Yes, you can.
(B) No, you cannot.
“What happens if the effects of Argostars – Lightning Tydeu in the Monster Zone are negated?”
Q: Last turn, I activated the effect of Argostars – Lightning Tydeu that Special Summons it to the Monster Zone. In this case, what happens if the following effects are applied to it?
(A) The effect of Infinite Impermanence, “negate its effects (until the end of this turn)”.
(B) The effect of Infinite Impermanence, “for the rest of this turn all other Spell/Trap effects in this column are negated”.
(C) The effect of Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss.
A:
(A) It remains in the Monster Zone. Its monster effects are negated, but its effects as a Trap Card are not.
(B) It is placed face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone. If it was placed in the same column as Infinite Impermanence and its effect is activated again, it will be negated. If it was placed in a different column from Infinite Impermanence and its effect is activated again, it will be Special Summoned without being negated. (At this time, if it is placed in the Monster Zone in the same column as Infinite Impermanence, its effects will be negated, so it is placed in the Spell & Trap Zone again.)
(C) It is placed face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone. Its effects as a Trap Card are also negated during this turn, so even if its effect is activated again, it will be negated.
The same applies to Argostars – Swift Capane and Argostars – Slayer Eteo.
“Will an Argostars – Lightning Tydeu that was Set by the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison be banished?”
Q: I activated an Argostars – Lightning Tydeu that was Set by the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison, then Special Summon it with its effect, and then activated its “●” monster effect to place it face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone. In this case, is it still banished by the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison?
A: Yes, it will be banished.
The same applies to Argostars – Swift Capane and Argostars – Slayer Eteo.
“If Argostars – Lightning Tydeu is placed in the Spell & Trap Zone by its own effect, can its effect to Special Summon itself be activated again?”
Q: Last turn, I activated the effect of Argostars – Lightning Tydeu that Special Summons it to the Monster Zone. During this turn, I activated its “●” monster effect to place it face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone, and then activated its effect to Special Summon it again. In this case, can I activate its “●” effect again?
A: Yes, you can activate that effect again.
The same applies to Argostars – Swift Capane and Argostars – Slayer Eteo.
RULING REVERSALS
A summary of the ruling changes that have occurred this month:
1. Twin-Headed Behemoth
Previous Ruling: If Twin-Headed Behemoth is Special Summoned by its own effect while the effect of Skill Drain is applying, its ATK and DEF will be 1000.
New Ruling: If Twin-Headed Behemoth is Special Summoned by its own effect while the effect of Skill Drain is applying, the part of the effect that changes its ATK and DEF is not applied.
**Note: This change does not come from a new database entry, but rather from the deletion of the old one. This by itself does not necessarily confirm a change, but Twin-Headed Behemoth was also added to another existing entry that explains how monsters lose ATK/DEF changes applied to themselves when their effects are negated.
2. Bait Doll
Previous Ruling: (Generally) if the effect of Bait Doll is applied to a Trap Card whose activation timing is not correct, the Trap Card’s activation is forced, but its effect is negated and the face-up Trap is destroyed. If White Dragon Ninja is on the field, it will prevent the Trap Card from being destroyed, but the Trap Card is sent to the GY regardless (even if Continuous) because its activation conditions were not correct.
New Ruling: (Generally) if the effect of Bait Doll is applied to a Trap Card whose activation timing is not correct, the Trap Card’s activation is not forced, and the Trap is destroyed while still Set (no “negation” occurs). If White Dragon Ninja is on the field, it will prevent the Trap Card from being destroyed and it remains Set.
3. Battleguard Rage
Previous Ruling: If a monster with the effect of Battleguard Rage applied to it destroys a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle, the Trap Card is sent to the GY normally without being returned to the hand.
New Ruling: If a monster with the effect of Battleguard Rage applied to it destroys a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle, the Trap Card is returned to its owner’s hand instead of being sent to the GY.
4. Dracocension
Previous Ruling: If a monster Special Summoned by the effect of Dracocension destroys a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle, the Trap Card is sent to the GY normally without being returned to the Deck.
New Ruling: If a monster Special Summoned by the effect of Dracocension destroys a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle, the Trap Card is returned to its owner’s Deck instead of being sent to the GY.
5. “Arcana Force” monsters
Previous Ruling: If an “Arcana Force” monster is not face-up in the Monster Zone when its coin toss effect resolves, no effect is applied and the coin toss is not performed.
New Ruling: If an “Arcana Force” monster is not face-up in the Monster Zone when its coin toss effect resolves, the coin toss is still performed.
