    Ruling updates for March.

    UPDATED ENTRIES

“If Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the White Phantom Beast is added to my hand during my normal draw in my Draw Phase, can I activate its effect?”
Q: If Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the White Phantom Beast is added to my hand as a result of my normal draw during my Draw Phase, can I activate its effect that Special Summons it from my hand?
A: Yes, you can. (When Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the White Phantom Beast is added to your hand during your normal draw in your Draw Phase, it still counts as being added from your Deck to your hand.)
Similarly, you can activate the effect of Lappis Dragon when it is added to your hand during your normal draw in your Draw Phase, or the effect of R-Genex Accelerator in your Monster Zone when a “Genex” monster is added to your hand during your normal draw in your Draw Phase.

“If I activate the second effect of Sky Striker Ace = Zero while the effect of Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster is applied to it, will it be affected by any chained effects?”
Q: A Sky Striker Ace = Zero has had the effect of Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster applied to it, then Tributes itself to activate its effect. If my opponent chains an effect that negates the activation or effect, will Sky Striker Ace = Zero be affected by that effect?
A: It will be negated. The effect of Sky Striker Mecha – Eagle Booster expires when the monster to which it was applied to is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone. Therefore, since Sky Striker Ace = Zero was Tributed as cost and can now be affected by other effects, it can be affected by any chained effects.

“Can I activate the effect of Draselea the Blood Tree Dragon Princess during a turn I Special Summoned a monster whose original Type is not Plant or Dragon while the effect of Black Rose Garden was applying?”
Q: If I Special Summon a monster whose original Type is not Plant or Dragon while the effect of Black Rose Garden (“All face-up monsters on the field become Plant monsters”) is applying, can I activate the effect of Draselea the Blood Tree Dragon Princess?
A: Yes, you can. If you Special Summon a monster whose original Type is not Plant or Dragon while the effect of Black Rose Garden is applying, it is treated as if you Special Summoned a Plant monster.

“After using the effect of Draselea the Blood Tree Dragon Princess, can I Synchro Summon a monster whose original Type is not Plant or Dragon while the effect of Black Rose Garden is applying?”
Q: If I use the effect of Draselea the Blood Tree Dragon Princess so that I cannot Special Summon monsters other than Dragon or Plant monsters this turn, but the effect of Black Rose Garden (“All face-up monsters on the field become Plant monsters”) is applying, can I Synchro Summon a monster whose original Type is not Plant or Dragon?
A: No, you cannot. When performing a Synchro Summon, you must choose a monster in your Extra Deck that can be Special Summoned (in this case, a Plant or Dragon monster).
Therefore, you cannot Synchro Summon a monster from your Extra Deck that is not a Plant or Dragon monster, even knowing that it will become a Plant monster once it is Synchro Summoned.

“Can the effects of monsters with multiple Attributes be activated in situations where the effects of monsters with specific Attributes cannot be activated?”
Q: I activated the effect of Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz and sent a WIND monster to the GY, so it is now also treated as a WIND monster. In this situation, if the following effects are then applied, can I activate the effect of Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz, which is treated as both DARK and WIND, next turn?
    (A) Dominus Impulse, “you cannot activate the effects of LIGHT, EARTH, and WIND monsters for the rest of this Duel”
    (B) Dominus Purge, “you cannot activate the effects of DARK, WATER, and FIRE monsters for the rest of this Duel”
    (C) Dominus Spiral, “you cannot activate the effects of LIGHT or DARK monsters for the rest of this Duel”
    (D) Dominus Spark, “you cannot activate the effects of EARTH, WATER, FIRE, and WIND monsters for the rest of this Duel”
A: In all of those cases, you cannot activate the effect.
Examples of other monsters with multiple Attributes include the following:
    – Sphere of Chaos
    – Light and Darkness Dragon
    – Light and Darkness Dragonlord
    – Contrast HERO Chaos
    – Simorgh, Bird of Perfection
    – Chaos Grepher
    – Invoked Elysium
    – Simorgh of Darkness
    – Oneiros, the Dream Mirror Erlking
    – Oneiros, the Dream Mirror Tormentor
    – Elemental HERO Electrum
    – Number 76: Harmonizer Gradielle
    – R-Genex Undine
    – Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Evening Twilight
    – Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon
    – A monster equipped with a monster with a different Attribute by the effect of Armored Xyz
    – A monster that had the effect of RGB Rainbowlution

“When Special Summoning Predaplant Dheadevil using the procedure written in its text, can the Pendulum Effect of Predaplant Triantis be applied?”
Q: When Special Summoning Predaplant Dheadevil using the procedure written in its text, can I apply the Pendulum Effect of Predaplant Triantis and Tribute a “Predaplant” Monster Card in my Pendulum Zone along with a monster on either field with a Predator Counter on it?
A: No, you cannot. The Pendulum Effect of Predaplant Triantis can only be applied when performing a Fusion Summon. The Special Summon of Predaplant Dheadevil using the procedure written in its text is not a Fusion Summon, so the Pendulum Effect of Predaplant Triantis cannot be applied.

“Can I activate the effect of Red Nova Dragon – Burning Soul during a Duel in which Red Dragon Archfiend was Special Summoned by a method treated as a Synchro Summon?”
Q: Can I activate the effect of Red Nova Dragon – Burning Soul during a Duel in which I Special Summoned Red Dragon Archfiend by the effect of Scarred Dragon Archfiend, which Special Summons Red Dragon Archfiend from the Extra Deck and treats it as a Synchro Summon?
A: Yes, you can. Even though it is a Special Summon treated as a Synchro Summon, it still counts as you Synchro Summoning Red Dragon Archfiend.

“Can I activate the effect of Red Nova Dragon – Burning Soul during a Duel in which I Synchro Summoned Scarred Dragon Archfiend?
Q: If I Synchro Summon a Scarred Dragon Archfiend, whose effect treats it as Red Dragon Archfiend while on the field or in the GY, can I then activate the effect of Red Nova Dragon – Burning Soul during that Duel?
A: Yes, you can. Similarly, you can activate the effect of Red Nova Dragon – Burning Soul during a Duel in which you Synchro Summoned the following:
    – Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend

“If Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon is sent to the GY, can I activate the second effect of Deep-Eyes White Dragon, the Blue Abyss?”
Q: If a Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, which is treated as Blue-Eyes White Dragon while on the field or in the GY by its own effect, is sent to the GY, can I activate the second effect of Deep-Eyes White Dragon, the Blue Abyss?
    A: Yes, you can.
You can activate the second effect of Deep-Eyes White Dragon, the Blue Abyss if a monster (specifically, a “Blue-Eyes” Ritual Monster, or Blue-Eyes White Dragon) is sent to the GY.
Similarly, if Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, or a “Blue-Eyes” Ritual Monster are treated as having different card names due to the following effects and are sent to the GY, you can activate the second effect of Deep-Eyes White Dragon, the Blue Abyss:
    – Weaver of Fairy Tail Tales
    – Fairy Tail Ball
    – Fairy Tail – Matchlille
    – Number 69: Heraldry Crest – Dark Matter Demolition
    – Flash of Heraldry
    – Hero Mask

“If I Special Summon Albion the Shrouded Dragon with the effect of The Flute of Guiding Dragon, which other monsters can I Special Summon?”
Q: If I Special Summon Albion the Shrouded Dragon with the effect of The Flute of Guiding Dragon, which monster can I Special Summon with the part of the effect that states “you can Special Summon 1 monster from your Deck with the same name as the Summoned monster”?
A: You can Special Summon either Fallen of Albaz or Fallen of the White Dragon. This is because the Special Summoned Albion the Shrouded Dragon is treated as Fallen of Albaz while on the field or in the GY by its own effect.
Similarly, if the following monsters are Special Summoned by the effect of The Flute of Guiding Dragon, you can Special Summon additional monsters by referring to the Special Summoned monster’s name on the field:
    – Red-Eyes Soul
    – Armed Dragon Thunder LV5

“If a Token is banished by the effect of Chaos End Ruler – Ruler of the Beginning and the End, is it included in the number of cards ‘banished by this effect’?”
Q: When the effect of Chaos End Ruler – Ruler of the Beginning and the End that banishes all cards from my opponent’s field and GY resolves, are Tokens included in the damage inflicted for each card “banished by this effect”?
A: No, they are not. Therefore, if only Tokens are banished, the part of the effect “then inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each card banished by this effect” is not applied.

“If Fiendish Chain is activated in response to the activation of Dimensional Prison, will the attacking monster be banished?”
Q: Dimensional Prison is activated when a monster declares an attack. When resolving its effect, if the effect of Fiendish Chain has been applied and the attacking monster is no longer able to attack, will it still be banished?
A: It will be banished. Even if the effect of Fiendish Chain is applied to the attacking monster, it remains an attacking monster until the Chain finishes resolving. At the time Dimensional Prison resolves, it is still an attacking monster so the effect to “banish that target” applies normally.

“Can I activate the effect of Gagaga Girl – Zero Zero Call to Xyz Summon Dhampir Vampire Sheridan or The Zombie Vampire?”
Q: If I activate the effect of Gagaga Girl – Zero Zero Call targeting a monster owned by my opponent with a Level other than 6/8, can I Xyz Summon Dhampir Vampire Sheridan or The Zombie Vampire?
    A: No, you cannot.

“Can The Dragon that Devours the Dogma that was Fusion Summoned by the effect of Branded in Red attack directly during the same turn?”
Q: If I Fusion Summon The Dragon that Devours the Dogma using the effect of Branded in Red, can it attack directly this turn?
A: No, it cannot. As part of the resolution of the effect of Branded in Red, the effect “it cannot attack directly this turn” is applied to the Fusion Summoned monster. Therefore, even if The Dragon that Devours the Dogma is unaffected by card effects due to its own effect, it still cannot attack directly that turn.
Note that whether or not there is an “Ecclesia” monster on the field/in the GY at the time it is Special Summoned does not change the outcome.

“When Special Summoning a Synchro Monster with the effect of Dark Tuner Nightmare Hand, is it necessary to Tribute the correct listed materials?”
Q: If I activate the third effect of Dark Tuner Nightmare Hand, whose Level is 13 due to other effects, can I Tribute it and a Level 1 Normal Monster to Special Summon the following Synchro Monsters?
    (A) Red Supernova Dragon, whose listed materials are “3 Tuners + 1+ non-Tuner Synchro Monsters” and must first be Synchro Summoned.
    (B) Red Hypernova Dragon, whose listed materials are “4 Tuners + 1+ non-Tuner Synchro Monsters” and must first be Synchro Summoned with the above materials.
    A:
    (A) Yes, you can.
    (B) No, you cannot.
When Special Summoning a Synchro Monster with the third effect of Dark Tuner Nightmare Hand, you do not need to Tribute the correct listed materials on that Synchro Monster. Also, the Special Summon is treated as a Synchro Summon, so you can Special Summon Red Supernova Dragon whose text states it must first be Special Summoned by Synchro Summon. (If this Red Supernova Dragon is then sent to the GY, it can be Special Summoned again by other effects.)
On the other hand, the text of Red Hypernova Dragon states it must first be Synchro Summoned with the above materials, so it cannot be Special Summoned by the effect of Dark Tuner Nightmare Hand.
The same applies when Special Summoning a Synchro Monster with the second effect of Dark Tuner Catastrogue.

“Can I activate the effect of Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic while the effect of my opponent’s Kewl Tune Back 2 Back is applying?”
Q: My opponent controls Kewl Tune Back 2 Back, and its effect “The Levels of monsters your opponent controls are increased by 2” is applying. Can the effect of Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic be activated in the following situations? If so, how does it resolve?
    (A) I have Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic and a Level 4 “Dododo” monster in my hand, and only Rank 4 monsters in my Extra Deck.
    (B) I have Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic and a Level 4 “Dododo” monster in my hand, and only Rank 6 monsters in my Extra Deck.
    (C) I have Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic and a Level 4 “Dododo” monster in my hand, and only Rank 4 and Rank 6 monsters in my Extra Deck.
    A:
    (A) It can be activated. If you do, you will Special Summon Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic and the Level 4 “Dododo” monster. At that time, both monsters’ Levels become 6, and since you have no monsters that can be Xyz Summoned, the Xyz Summon is not performed.
    (B) It cannot be activated.
    (C) It can be activated. If you do, you will Special Summon Gagaga Magician – Gagaga Magic and the Level 4 “Dododo” monster. At that time, both monsters’ Levels become 6, and the effect “treat the Level of 1 of the monsters the same as the other monster’s” will also be applied. However, this will not cause the effect of Kewl Tune Back 2 Back to increase their Levels further, so the Xyz Summon of a Rank 6 monster is performed.

“If I Special Summon Convex Knight by its first effect and its Level becomes 10, can I activate the first effect of Revolving Switchyard?”
Q: If I control Revolving Switchyard and a Level 10 Machine monster, and I activate the first effect of Convex Knight to Special Summon it and make its Level become 10, can I activate the first effect of Revolving Switchyard?
A: No, you cannot. When resolving the effect of Convex Knight, Special Summoning it and changing its Level are not treated as occurring simultaneously. Since a Level 4 monster was Special Summoned, the activation requirement “If a Level 10 EARTH Machine monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned” for the effect of Revolving Switchyard has not been met.
