“If D.D. Warrior or D.D. Warrior Lady attacks a face-down Defense Position Cyber Jar, how is each effect applied?”
Q: What happens in the following situations?
(A) My D.D. Warrior attacks a face-down Defense Position Cyber Jar.
(B) My D.D. Warrior Lady attacks a face-down Defense Position Cyber Jar.
A:
(A) The two monsters are destroyed, and neither is banished. (The effect of Cyber Jar is applied as written.)
Both of these monsters’ effects are mandatory effects that activate after damage calculation, so their effects form a Chain starting with the turn player, and resolve backwards.
Therefore, the effect of your D.D. Warrior activates as Chain Link 1, the effect of your opponent’s Cyber Jar activates as Chain Link 2, and the effect of Cyber Jar resolves first, so both D.D. Warrior and Cyber Jar are destroyed.
(B) If you activate the effect of D.D. Warrior Lady, both monsters are banished. (The effect of Cyber Jar also resolves.)
The effect of D.D. Warrior Lady is an optional effect that can be activated after damage calculation, so the effect of your opponent’s Cyber Jar must be activated as Chain Link 1, and the effect of your D.D. Warrior Lady can be activated as Chain Link 2.
Therefore, the effect of D.D. Warrior Lady resolves first and banishes both itself and Cyber Jar. Next, the effect of Cyber Jar resolves, and if there are any other monsters in the Monster Zone, they are destroyed. If at least 1 monster is destroyed, the rest of the effect is applied. (If no monsters are destroyed, the rest of the effect is not applied.)
“Can I Ritual Summon a Ritual Monster from the GY if I Tributed it for the Ritual Summon, using an effect that Ritual Summons from the GY?”
Q: Using the effect of Nekroz Cycle, if I Tribute a Nekroz of Clausolas from my hand, can I also Ritual Summon that Tributed Nekroz of Clausolas from the GY?
A: No, you cannot. To perform a Ritual Summon, you must choose 1 Ritual Monster in your hand or GY, and Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal that Ritual Monster’s Level. Therefore, if you choose to Ritual Summon a Nekroz of Clausolas from your hand, you cannot Tribute that same Nekroz of Clausolas. (You must perform the Ritual Summon by Tributing other monsters from your hand or field.)
The same applies when Ritual Summoning with the following effects:
– Revendread Origin
– Revendread Evolution
– Ravenous Vendread
– Meteoroa Drytron
– Meteonis Drytron
– Underworld Ritual of Prediction
– Dogmatikamacabre
– Odd-Eyes Advent
“Can Trickstar Reincarnation be activated during a turn the effect of Droll & Lock Bird was activated?”
Q:
(A) During a turn the effect of Droll & Lock Bird is applying, can Trickstar Reincarnation be activated?
(B) When my opponent adds a card from the Deck to their hand outside of the Draw Phase, I activate Trickstar Reincarnation as Chain Link 1, and the effect of Droll & Lock Bird is activated and applied on the same Chain. In this case, what happens?
A:
(A) It cannot be activated.
(B The effect of Droll & Lock Bird is applied first, so the effect of Trickstar Reincarnation banishes all cards from your opponent’s hand, but they do not draw any cards.
“If Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju is Special Summoned using its first effect, is the Tributed monster treated as being Tributed by a card effect?”
Q: When Special Summoning a Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju using its first effect, I Tribute a face-up Samurai Skull in my opponent’s Monster Zone. In this case, can the second effect of that Samurai Skull be activated?
A: No, it cannot. (The Tributed Samurai Skull your opponent controlled is not treated as having been Tributed by a card effect.)
Similarly, if you Tribute your opponent’s monsters when Special Summoning the following monsters using their effects, that opponent’s monster is not treated as having been Tributed by a card effect:
– Surgical Striker – H.A.M.P.
– Predaplant Banksiogre
– Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra
– Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju
– Gadarla, the Mystery Dust Kaiju
– Radian, the Multidimensional Kaiju
– Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju
– Kumongous, the Sticky String Kaiju
– Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju
– Santa Claws
“If control of Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms changes switches to my opponent during a turn I Special Summoned it with its second effect, does its third effect activate during the End Phase?”
Q: I Special Summoned Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms by activating its second effect this turn. If control of that Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms switches to my opponent by another effect that turn, will its effect that returns it to the hand activate during that End Phase?
A: Yes, it will. (Your opponent will activate it.) However, if your opponent has already used the effect of another Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms that turn, the effect of yours whose control was switched to your opponent will not activate.
The same applies to the following monsters:
– Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders
– Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos
– Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls
“Can I activate the effect of SPYRAL Double Helix during a turn the effect of Droll & Lock Bird is applying?”
Q: During a turn the effect of Droll & Lock Bird is applying, preventing cards from being added from either player’s Main Deck to the hand, can I activate the effect of SPYRAL Double Helix?
A: Yes, you can. If the top card of your opponent’s Deck matches the card type you declared, you cannot add cards from your Deck to your hand, so you must choose to add a “SPYRAL” monster from your GY to your hand, or choose to Special Summon a “SPYRAL” monster from your Deck or GY.
The same applies to the following effects:
Monster effects
– Noh-P.U.N.K. Rising Scale (first effect)
– Abyssrhine, the Atlantean Spirit (first effect)
– G Golem Pebble Dog (first effect)
– Crystal Skull (second effect)
– Mega Fortress Whale (third effect)
– Imperial Bower
– Traptrix Nepenthes (second effect)
– Despian Quaeritis (second effect)
– Sprind the Irondash Dragon (second effect)
– Brigrand the Glory Dragon (third effect)
– Titaniklad the Ash Dragon (third effect)
– Imperial Princess Quinquery (second effect)
Spell Cards
– Evil Assault
– Dragonic Pendulum (third effect)
– Synchro Overtake
– Generation Next
Trap Cards
– Sinful Spoils Subdual
– Radiance of the Voiceless Voice
– Crystal Boon (second effect)
– Tribe Drive
– Icejade Erosion (second effect)
– One or Eight
“When resolving the effect of Advanced Heraldry Art, how many times does a Special Summon occur?”
Q:
(A) During a turn that I activated the effect of Maxx “C”, if my opponent activates and resolves Advanced Heraldry Art, how many cards do I draw?
(B) While the Continuous Effect of my Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula is applying, if my opponent activates and resolves Advanced Heraldry Art, how much damage will they take?
A:
(A) You draw 2 cards.
(B) Your opponent takes 600 damage twice (1200 damage total).
Since the part of the effect of Advanced Heraldry Art that states “Special Summon both those targets” and the part of the effect that states “Xyz Summon 1 Xyz Monster using those 2 monsters only” do not occur simultaneously, a total of 2 Special Summons occur.
“When resolving the effect of Union Scramble, what happens if I only have 2 or fewer available Main Monster Zones?”
Q: I activate Union Scramble by targeting 3 monsters. If my opponent chains Ojama Trio to that activation, leaving me with only 2 available Main Monster Zones, how does the effect of Union Scramble resolve?
A: Choose 2 out of the 3 targeted monsters and Special Summon them. (The monster that was not Special Summoned is placed in your GY from your banishment.)
Also, if you activate Union Scramble while you only have 2 or fewer available Main Monster Zones, you can only target and Special Summon monsters up to the number of available Main Monster Zones you have.
Similarly, if you activate Geargia Change by targeting 3 monsters, but only have 2 available Main Monster Zones when it resolves, you choose2 out of the 3 targeted monsters and Special Summon them, then perform an Xyz Summon using those 2 monsters as materials. (If you do not have any Xyz Monsters that can be Xyz Summoned using only 2 monsters, only the part of the effect of Special Summoning from the GY is performed.)
“If Trickstar Lilybell is added to my hand from somewhere other than the Deck, can I activate its effect?”
Q: When the following situations occur, can I activate the effect of Trickstar Lilybell that Special Summons it?
(A) It is returned to my hand from the field (face-up or face-down) or GY by another effect.
(B) It is returned to my hand from the banishment (face-up or face-down) by another effect.
(C) It is added to my hand while it is an Xyz Material, by the effect of Overlay Network.
(D) It is added to my hand from my opponent’s hand by the effect of Exchange.
(E) Its Normal or Flip Summon is negated by the effect of Forced Back, and it is returned to my hand.
A: In all cases, Trickstar Lilybell was added to your hand by a method other than drawing, so you can activate its effect.
Similarly, if the following monsters are added to your hand from somewhere other than the Deck, you can activate their effects that Special Summon them:
– Drake Shark
– Tachyon Cloudragon
– Tenpai Dragon Genroku
– Snake-Eyes Poplar
– Agnimal Candle
– Altergeist Malwisp
– Baku the Beast Ninja
– Machina Unclaspare
– Crowley, the Gifted of Magistus
“If the monster equipped with Cyberdark Claw is no longer face-up, can the effect of Cyberdark Claw be activated when it is sent to the GY?”
Q: If a monster equipped with Cyberdark Claw is destroyed or otherwise leaves the field, Cyberdark Claw is also destroyed and sent to the GY, but can its effect “If this card is sent to the GY while equipped to a monster: You can target 1 “Cyberdark” monster in your GY; add it to your hand” be activated?
Also, if a monster equipped with Cyberdark Claw is changed to face-down Defense Position, can the effect of the destroyed Cyberdark Claw be activated?
A: It cannot be activated in either case.
If Cyberdark Claw is destroyed and sent to the GY because the equipped monster is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone, it is not considered to be “sent to the GY while equipped to a monster”.
The same applies if the following cards are sent to the GY because the equipped monster is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone:
– Old Entity Hastorr
– Attachment Cybern
– Unauthorized Bootup Device
– Cyberdark Cannon
– Red-Eyes Baby Dragon
– Dragunity Aklys
– Inzektor Giga-Mantis
– Inzektor Giga-Weevil
– Inzektor Earwig
– Archfiend’s Staff of Despair
– Butterfly Dagger – Elma
– Smoke Grenade of the Thief
“Can I choose an Xyz/Pendulum Monster, etc. with the second effect of Heavymetalfoes Electrumite?”
Q: When resolving the part of the second effect of Heavymetalfoes Electrumite that adds a face-up Pendulum Monster from my Extra Deck to my hand, can I choose an Xyz/Pendulum Monster such as Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon?
A: No, you cannot. If the only face-up Pendulum Monsters in your Extra Deck are Fusion/Pendulum Monsters, Synchro/Pendulum Monsters, or Xyz/Pendulum Monsters, such as Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, you cannot add any face-up Pendulum Monsters from your Extra Deck to your hand, so you cannot activate the second effect of Heavymetalfoes Electrumite.
The following cards are also examples of effects that add a face-up Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand:
– Rescue Hamster
– PenduLuMoon
– Superheavy Samurai Security
– D/D Lilith
– D/D Savant Thomas
– D/D Proud Chevalier
– D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace
– D/D Extra Surveyor
– Predaplant Bufolicula
– Performapal King Bear
– Performapal U Go Golem
– Oafdragon Magician
– Timestar Magician
– Odd-Eyes Phantasma Dragon
– Parametalfoes Melcaster
– Symphonic Warrior Rockks
– Exceed the Pendulum
– Zefra Metaltron
– Majespecter Orthrus – Nue
– GranSolfachord Musecia
– Dark Contract with Patent License
– Pendulum Paradox
“If I activate Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero using the effect of Metaverse, can I activate the effect of Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole during the End Phase?”
Q: While Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole is face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone, I activate Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero during my opponent’s turn using the effect of Metaverse. If I do not activate any other “Sky Striker” Spell Cards that turn, can I activate the effect of Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole during the End Phase?
A: Yes, you can. Since you activated 1 Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero while Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole was face-up, you can choose 1 “Sky Striker” Spell Card in your GY and Set it to your field.
“Can Phantom of Chaos activate the second effect gained from Salamangreat Blaze Falcon?”
Q: Phantom of Chaos has gained the name and effects of Salamangreat Blaze Falcon, using its own effect. In this situation, can Phantom of Chaos activate the second effect gained from Salamangreat Blaze Falcon, which Special Summons a “Salamangreat” Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck?
A: Yes, it can. Furthermore, if you Special Summon a Salamangreat Blaze Falcon from your Extra Deck with that effect, you can also activate the third effect of that Salamangreat Blaze Falcon that destroys a card your opponent controls.
“If Branded Fusion is activated while the effect of Branded Lost is applying, what happens if an effect that negates the activation or the effect is activated?”
Q: If the effect of my Branded Lost is applying and I activate Branded Fusion, what happens if my opponent chains the following effects?
(A) Baronne de Fleur
(B) Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring or Dominus Impulse
A: Determine whether or not the effect that was chained is one that negates the activation of an effect that includes Fusion Summoning. If it is an effect that negates activations, it is not applied due to the effect of Branded Lost, and the activation of the effect that includes Fusion Summoning is not negated.
(A) The effect of Branded Fusion is applied normally. (The effect of Baronne de Fleur is one that negates activations, so it is not applied.
(B) The effect of Branded Fusion is negated. (Neither the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring nor Dominus Impulse negates activations.)
The following are also examples of cards with effects that prevent the activation of Fusion Summoning effects from being negated:
– Magical Meltdown
– Dragonroid
“If the effect of Linkuriboh is applied to a monster whose ATK has been changed by the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted, what happens to its ATK after the end of the turn?”
Q: If a “Dogmatika” monster that previously gained 500 ATK from the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted has its ATK become 0 by the effect of Linkuriboh, what will its ATK be after the end of this turn?
A: The “Dogmatika” monster’s ATK returns to its original value.
Similarly, if the effect of Linkuriboh is applied to a monster whose ATK has been changed by the following effects, the monster’s ATK returns to its original value after the end of the turn.
– Witchcrafter Madame Verre
– U.A. Playmaker
– Eldlich the Golden Lord
– Ghostrick Ghoul
– Binary Sorceress
– Pandemic Dragon
– Deskbot 003
– Hexe Trude
– Iron Chain Coil
– Triamid Dancer
– Lunalight Blue Cat
– The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode
– Performapal Radish Horse
– Performapal Sellshell Crab
– Performapal Gold Fang
– D/D/D Wave High King Caesar
– Predaplant Chimerafflesia
– Masked HERO Koga
– Destiny HERO – Dangerous
– Constellar Praesepe
– Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
– Lyrilusc – Recital Starling
– Raidraptor – Revolution Falcon
– Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien
– Number C39: Utopia Ray
– Number 39: Utopia Double
– Saryuja Skull Dread
– Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres
– Trickstar Black Catbat

“While the effect of Orcustrated Babel is applying, can I activate the second effect of Enlilgirsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight during my opponent’s turn?”
Q: While the effect of my Orcustrated Babel is applying, which allows the effects of my “Orcust” Link Monsters I control and “Orcust” monsters in my GY to be activated as Quick Effects, can I activate the second effect of my Enlilgirsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight during my opponent’s turn?
A: Yes, you can also activate the effect during your opponent’s turn. (If it is a turn it was sent from the Extra Monster Zone to the GY, its effect can be activated during any phase of either player’s turn. However, it cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)
“When Red-Eyes Fusion is sent to the GY to activate the second effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda, can the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring or Tearlaments Rulkallos be chained?”
Q: When the effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda is activated by sending Red-Eyes Fusion to the GY, can the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring be chained to it? Also, when my opponent activates the effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda by sending Red-Eyes Fusion to the GY, can I chain the effect of Tearlaments Rulkallos?
A: Neither effect can be activated. (The effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda becomes the same as the sent Spell Card’s activation effect, and is not an effect that sends a card from the Deck to the GY or Special Summons a monster.)
Similarly, if the effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda is activated by sending the following cards to the GY as the cost, the effects of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Tearlaments Rulkallos cannot be chained to it:
– Absorb Fusion
– Shaddoll Fusion
– Lunalight Fusion
– Branded Fusion
– Face Card Fusion
– Fusion Conscription
– Fusion Deployment
– Fusion Armament
– Ancient Gear Fusion
– Ghost Fusion
– Neos Fusion
– Fusion Destiny
“What happens if I have no available Spell & Trap Zones when resolving the effect of Relinquished Anima?”
Q: While I only have 1 Spell & Trap Zone available, I activate the effect of Relinquished Anima, targeting my opponent’s Link Monster. At this time, my opponent activates the first effect of Startling Stare of the Snake-Eyes, targeting another one of my monsters. In this case, that effect places the monster in my Spell & Trap Zone, leaving me without any available Spell & Trap Zones, so what happens to the Link Monster that was targeted by the effect of Relinquished Anima?
A: It is sent to the GY. (It is not treated as being sent to the GY by a card effect.)
The same applies if you have no available Spell & Trap Zones when resolving the effects of the following monsters that equip a monster on the field:
– Relinquished
– Thousand-Eyes Restrict
– Millennium-Eyes Restrict
– Gizmek Kaku, the Supreme Shining Sky Stag
– D/D/D Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok
– Destiny HERO – Plasma
– The Atmosphere
– Allure Queen LV3
– Allure Queen LV5
– Allure Queen LV7
– Vylon Disigma
“Can I activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being and the second effect of Orcust Crescendo on the same Chain?”
Q: During the Main Phase in which my opponent Special Summoned 5 monsters, I activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being. Can I activate the effect of an Orcust Crescendo in my GY on the same Chain, which states I cannot Special Summon monsters other than DARK Machine monsters during the turn I activate it?
A: Yes, you can. The second effect of Orcust Crescendo cannot be activated during a turn you already successfully Special Summoned a monster other than a DARK Machine monster, but since Nibiru, the Primal Being has not yet been Special Summoned at the time its effect is activated, the conditions for activating the effect of Orcust Crescendo are still being met.
Once you activate the effect of Orcust Crescendo, you will no longer be able to Special Summon monsters other than DARK Machine monsters that turn, so the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being will Tribute as many face-up monsters as possible, but it will remain in your hand without being Special Summoned, and you cannot Special Summon a Primal Being Token.
Furthermore, you cannot activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being if the effect of Orcust Crescendo has already been activated on the same Chain.
Examples of other cards with text stating you cannot Special Summon monsters during the turn it (or its effect) is activated include the following:
– Rage with Eyes of Blue
– Gateway to Dark World
– Scapegoat
– Fires of Doomsday
– Card of Sacrifice
– Soul Transition
– Oath of Companionship
“What happens if the second effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter is activated during a turn the effect of Maliss <P> Dormouse was applied?”
Q: If I activated the first effect of Maliss <P> Dormouse, and then activate the second effect of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter during the same turn that effect was applied, what will the ATK of Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter be?
A: It will be 5600. (After its ATK is doubled from 2500 to become 5000, it gains 600 ATK.)
“What happens if the effect of Thunder Dragon Colossus is applying when the effect of Cyber Jar resolves?”
Q: When I activate and resolve the effect of Cyber Jar, I have a Thunder Dragon Colossus in my Monster Zone, and by applying its second Continuous Effect, it remains in the Monster Zone without being destroyed. In this case, since its first Continuous Effect is also applying, how does the rest of the effect of Cyber Jar resolve?
A: Your opponent Special Summons all Level 4 or lower monsters among their revealed cards in face-up Attack Position or face-down Defense Position, and any remaining cards that were not Special Summoned are sent to the GY. (They are not treated as being sent to the GY by a card effect.)
Furthermore, you will proceed with the effect of Cyber Jar normally.
“When resolving the effect of Cyber Jar, who is considered to be the one Special Summoning?”
Q: During a turn that only my opponent activated the effect of Maxx “C”, my opponent activates the effect of Cyber Jar, and each player Special Summons as a result. In this case, since my monster was Special Summoned, does my opponent draw a card due to the effect of Maxx “C”?
A: Your opponent draws 1 card. When each player Special Summons monsters due to the effect of Cyber Jar, it is treated as each player Special Summoning their monsters.
“What happens if a monster revealed by the effect of Cyber Jar cannot be Special Summoned?”
Q: What happens in the following situations?
(A) The effect of Cyber Jar reveals a monster that cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck by card effects, such as Gigantes.
(B) The effect of Cyber Jar is activated during a turn I activated Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine, which prevents me from Special Summoning monsters other than Zombie monsters that turn, and the Level 4 monster Exiled Force is revealed from my Deck.
(C) The effect of Cyber Jar resolves, but a Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo on the field is not destroyed due to the effect of Forbidden Dress, and Exiled Force is among the 5 revealed cards.
(D) The effect of my opponent’s Cyber Jar resolves while I control 5 face-up Dragon monsters in my Main Monster Zone, but none of them are destroyed due to the second effect of Return of the Dragon Lords; only my opponent’s Cyber Jar is destroyed, and Exiled Force and Gigantes are among the 5 revealed cards.
(E) The effect of my opponent’s Cyber Jar resolves while I only have 1 usable Main Monster Zone due to the effect of my opponent’s Kashtira Shangri-Ira, and there are 2 or more Level 4 or lower monsters that can be Special Summoned among the 5 revealed cards.
A:
(A) & (C) Your Gigantes and Exiled Force are added to your hand.
(B) Your Exiled Force is added to your hand. Your opponent proceeds with the effect of Cyber Jar normally.
(D) When resolving the effect, you have no available Main Monster Zones, so Gigantes is added to your hand but Exiled Force is sent to the GY. (It is not treated as being sent to the GY by a card effect.)
(E) Choose 1 monster that you wish to Special Summon, and Special Summon it. Any other Level 4 or lower monsters that can be Special Summoned are sent to the GY. (They are not treated as being sent to the GY by a card effect.)
“When activating the effect of Witchcrafter Genni, what happens if I banish Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light?”
Q: If I banish Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light to activate the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni:
(A) Do I have to take into consideration the activation conditions written in the effects of Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, such as “If you control a “Magistus” or “Witchcrafter” monster” or “When your opponent activates a card or effect”?
(B) When my opponent activates a monster effect, can I chain the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light?
(C) If I activated Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light this turn and selected its first “●” effect, can I activate the effect of Witchcrafter Genni by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light and selecting its first “●” effect again?
A: When applying the effect of a Spell Card using the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni, the activation conditions of the original Spell Card are not taken into consideration.
(A) That text is a condition for activating the card Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, so it is not taken into consideration when applying the effect as the effect of Witchcrafter Genni.
In other words, you can still banish Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light and select its first “●” effect to activate the effect of Witchcrafter Genni even if you do not control a “Magistus” or “Witchcrafter” monster, and you can select its second “●” effect and activate it as Chain Link 1 during your Main Phase.
(B) No, you cannot. The second effect of Witchcrafter Genni is an Ignition Effect, and can only be activated as Chain Link 1 during your Main Phase.
(C) Yes, you can. The text of Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light states “you can only use each effect of “Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light” once per turn”, but that is a condition for activating the card Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, so it is not taken into consideration when applying the effect as the effect of Witchcrafter Genni.
Furthermore, even if you already activated the effect of Witchcrafter Genni this turn by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light and selecting its first “●” effect, you can still activate the card Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light and select the first “●” effect again. (The same applies with its second “●” effect.)
Similarly, when banishing any of the following cards as the cost of activating the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni, you do not take into consideration text that states “You can only use 1 effect per turn, and only once that turn”:
– Witchcrafter Creation
– Witchcrafter Collaboration
– Witchcrafter Confusion Confession
– Witchcrafter Holiday
– Witchcrafter Unveiling
– Witchcrafter Draping
“When I activate the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, can the effects of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring or Tearlaments Rulkallos be chained?”
Q: If I activate the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, can the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring be chained? Also, when my opponent activates the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni by banishing Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light, can I chain the effect of Tearlaments Rulkallos?
A: Neither effect can be activated. (The second effect of Witchcrafter Genni becomes the same as the banished Spell’s effect that occurs when it is activated, but does not include sending a card from the Deck to the GY or Special Summoning a monster.)
Similarly, when banishing any of the following cards as the cost of activating the second effect of Witchcrafter Genni, neither the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring nor Tearlaments Rulkallos can be chained:
– Witchcrafter Creation
– Witchcrafter Confusion Confession
– Witchcrafter Holiday
– Witchcrafter Unveiling
“If a monster Special Summoned from the Deck becomes treated as a “Gladiator Beast” monster, can I Special Summon Test Bear?”
Q: An Elemental HERO Prisma that was Special Summoned from the Deck is then treated as a “Gladiator Beast” monster due to its own effect. In this case, can I Special Summon a Test Bear from my hand using its effect?
A: Yes, you can.
“Can I activate the second effect of Kitchen Dragonmaid if it was Special Summoned at the start of the Battle Phase?”
Q: At the start of the Battle Phase, I activate Sangen Kaimen and Special Summon Kitchen Dragonmaid from my hand. Afterward, I activated and resolved the first effect of Kitchen Dragonmaid that adds another “Dragonmaid” monster from my Deck to my hand, then sends one from my hand to the GY.
If neither player has any fast effects to activate after the Chain resolves, can I still activate the second effect of Kitchen Dragonmaid that Special Summons a Level 8 “Dragonmaid” monster?
A: Yes, you can. The second effect of Kitchen Dragonmaid can be activated during the Start Step of either player’s Battle Phase. Since the Start Step continues even after Sangen Kaimen and the first effect of Kitchen Dragonmaid have resolved, you can activate the second effect as Chain Link 1 after confirming that neither player wishes to activate any fast effects.
Similarly, if any of the following monsters are Special Summoned by an effect that was activated at the start of the Battle Phase, each player decides whether or not they will activate any fast effects, but if not, the turn player can activate their Trigger Effect that can be activated at the start of the Battle Phase, as Chain Link 1.
– Parlor Dragonmaid
– Chamber Dragonmaid
– Nurse Dragonmaid
– Laundry Dragonmaid
– Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer
– Psychic End Punisher
RULING REVERSALS
Ruling changes that have occurred this month:
December 5: Miracle Fertilizer
Old Ruling: You cannot Normal Summon/Set during the turn you successfully Special Summon a monster with this card’s effect.
New Ruling: You cannot Normal Summon/Set during the turn you activate this card’s effect, regardless of whether or not the effect applies successfully (as long the activation is not negated).
**Notes: This ruling comes from an update to the supplementary information section in Miracle Fertilizer’s Database ruling page, and deletion of some Q&A entries. Since it contradicts the card’s Japanese text, the card is likely going to have updated text in the future.
December 25: Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole
Old Ruling: Activating a “Sky Striker” Field Spell Card using effects such as Metaverse does not count toward the number of “Sky Striker” Spells activated that turn for the second effect of Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.
New Ruling: Activating a “Sky Striker” Field Spell Card using effects such as Metaverse counts toward the number of “Sky Striker” Spells activated that turn for the second effect of Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.
**Notes: Typically, activating a Spell Card during the resolution of another effect such as Metaverse does not count for effects that activate or apply due to a Spell Card being activated.
December 25: Majestic Mech – Goryu
Old Ruling: The text allowing you to Normal Summon this card with 1 Tribute is an unclassified effect (it is not an Ignition, Trigger, Quick, or Continuous Effect).
New Ruling: The text allowing you to Normal Summon this card with 1 Tribute is not considered an effect.
**Notes: Though this is technically a change, there are currently no situations where this makes a functional difference.
