“If I gain control of my opponent’s Magical Musketeer Wild by the effect of my Creature Swap that was activated in the same column as that opponent’s Magical Musketeer Wild, can I activate its effect?”
Q: Magical Musketeer Wild is face-up in my opponent’s Monster Zone, and I activate Creature Swap in the same column. When resolving the effect, I place Magical Musketeer Wild in my Main Monster Zone in a different column than that Creature Swap. In this case, can I activate the second effect of Magical Musketeer Wild?
A: Even in this case, since a Spell Card was activated in the same column as Magical Musketeer Wild, you can activate it effect afterward. (You can activate the effect regardless of its placement after it changes control.) Furthermore, if Creature Swap was activated in a different column than Magical Musketeer Wild, its effect could not be activated regardless of its placement after it changes control.
“When resolving the End Phase effects of Yubel or Volcanic Queen, can I choose a monster that is unaffected by monster effects as the monster to Tribute?”
Q: If I activated the effect of Yubel during my End Phase, or the effect of Volcanic Queen during my End Phase, can I choose a monster to Tribute that is unaffected by monster effects?
A: Yes, you can. In that case, the chosen monster will not be Tributed, and the effect finishes resolving. (In the case of Yubel, you do not have to destroy Yubel. In the case of Volcanic Queen, you do not take 1000 damage.)
“Can the effect of a second Performage Damage Juggler be activated while the “reduce the next battle damage you would take this turn to 0” effect of another Performage Damage Juggler is in effect?”
Q: During the turn the effect of Performage Damage Juggler is applying, which reduces the next battle damage I take to 0, can I activate the same effect of another Performage Damage Juggler?
A: Even in a situation where the effect of Performage Damage Juggler was activated but has not yet applied to reduce battle damage to 0, you can still activate that effect of a second Performage Damage Juggler. However, the next time you would take battle damage, the effect of both copies will be applied. (Battle damage will not become 0 two different times.)
“If multiple Xyz Monsters I control are destroyed by card effects activated on the same Chain, what happens regarding the effect of Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy?”
Q: While Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy is in my Monster Zone, my Thunder End Dragon and Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon are both destroyed when resolving an effect activated as Chain Link 2, and my Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Dragon is destroyed when resolving an effect that was activated as Chain Link 1.
Although 3 Xyz Monsters have been destroyed by card effects while resolving the Chain, how many times can I activate the last effect of Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy afterward?
A: The effect of Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy can only be activated once afterward. When resolving the effect, choose any one of the destroyed Xyz Monsters (in this case, either Thunder End Dragon, Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon, or Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Dragon), and increase the targeted Xyz Monster’s ATK by the chosen monster’s original ATK.
“What happens if there are no usable Pendulum Zones when resolving the monster effect of Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon?”
Q: While I have a Pendulum Zone available, I activate the monster effect of Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon that places it in my Pendulum Zone when it is destroyed by my opponent and added face-up to my Extra Deck. At this time, I also chain the effect of Pendulum Switch and place another Pendulum Monster from my field to the empty Pendulum Zone, so that I have no available Pendulum Zones left. In this case, what happens to Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon if it can no longer be placed in a Pendulum Zone?
A: Since there are no Pendulum Zones you can place it in, Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is sent from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard.
Furthermore, if an effect is applying that banishes cards that would be sent to the Graveyard, the effect of Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon can still be activated if it was destroyed and banished instead. Similarly in this case, if you have no available Pendulum Zones when resolving its effect, the banished Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is returned to the Graveyard.
“If a monster that can attack in Defense Position attacks, but the effects of that monster are negated, what happens to the attack?”
Q: If Scareclaw Kashtira attacks while in Defense Position using its own effect, but its effects are negated before conducting damage calculation, what happens to the attack?
A: If the effect of Scareclaw Kashtira that allows it to attack while in face-up Defense Position is negated before reaching the Damage Step, that Scareclaw Kashtira will no longer be able to attack, so the attack ends and you will not proceed to the Damage Step.
If the effect of Scareclaw Kashtira is negated during the Damage Step before conducting damage calculation, it will no longer be able to attack, and the Damage Step ends without damage calculation occurring.
The same applies for the following effects that allow monsters to attack while in face-up Defense Position:
– Elemental HERO Rampart Blaster
– Invoked Cocytus
– Superheavy Samurai Beast Kyubi
– Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei
– Superheavy Samurai Commander Shanawo
– Superheavy Samurai General Jade
– Superheavy Samurai Masurawo
– Superheavy Samurai Ninja Sarutobi
– Superheavy Samurai Ogre Shutendoji
– Superheavy Samurai Stealth Ninja
– Superheavy Samurai Steam Train King
– Superheavy Samurai Swordmaster Musashi
– Superheavy Samurai Wagon
– Superheavy Samurai Warlord Susanowo
– Total Defense Shogun
“Is it possible to activate the effect of PSY-Framegear Gamma while the effect of Ocean Dragon Lord – Kairyu-Shin is applying?”
Q: My opponent controls a face-up Umi and Ocean Dragon Lord – Kairyu-Shin, and the effect that only allows each player to control 1 non-WATER monster is applying. I do not control any monsters. In this situation, when my opponent activates the second effect of Ocean Dragon Lord – Kairyu-Shin, can I chain the effect of PSY-Framegear Gamma?
A: Yes, you can. When it resolves, PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver are Special Summoned, the activation of the effect of Ocean Dragon Lord – Kairyu-Shin is negated, and it is destroyed. (Both PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver remain on the field.)
“When Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Thunder Dragon Colossus with the same ATK battle, can I banish a card from the Graveyard instead of destroying Thunder Dragon Colossus?”
Q: Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Thunder Dragon Colossus battle each other while both having 1800 ATK. During damage calculation, if I have a Thunder monster in my Graveyard, can I apply the effect of Thunder Dragon Colossus and banish a Thunder monster from my Graveyard instead of destroying it?
A: While conducting damage calculation, the Continuous Effect of Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer is preventing you from banishing cards from the Graveyard, so the effect of Thunder Dragon Colossus cannot be applied. Both monsters are destroyed by battle.
“What happens if a monster equipped with Rod of Silence – Kay’est is equipped with a different Equip Spell Card?”
Q: Regarding the effect of Smoke Grenade of the Thief:
(A) If I resolve the effect of Power Tool Braver Dragon and equip both Smoke Grenade of the Thief and Rod of Silence – Kay’est, will Smoke Grenade of the Thief be destroyed?
(B) If I activate the effect of Ohime the Manifested Mikanko and equip Smoke Grenade of the Thief to a monster that is already equipped with Rod of Silence – Kay’est, will Smoke Grenade of the Thief be destroyed?
(C) If I activate Smoke Grenade of the Thief and equip it to a monster already equipped with Rod of Silence – Kay’est, will Smoke Grenade of the Thief be destroyed?
A:
For both scenarios (A) and (B): When resolving the effect, Smoke Grenade of the Thief and Rod of Silence – Kay’est will both be equipped to the same monster, and by being equipped to a monster (continuously targeting that monster), Smoke Grenade of the Thief is immediately destroyed by the effect of Rod of Silence – Kay’est. Since that Smoke Grenade of the Thief was destroyed while equipped to a monster, its effect will activate. (Since this effect does not target the monster equipped with Rod of Silence – Kay’est, it will not be negated by the effect of Rod of Silence – Kay’est.)
The same applies if both cards become equipped to a monster due to the following effects:
– Armory Call
– Courageous Crimson Chevalier Bradamante
– Gilford the Legend
– Glory of the Noble Knights
– Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles
– Mikanko Rivalry
For scenario (C): Smoke Grenade of the Thief is an Equip Spell Card, so if you activate the card itself, it will become equipped to the targeted monster when its Chain Link resolves. At this time, if the targeted monster is already equipped with Rod of Silence – Kay’est, this resolution will be negated and Smoke Grenade of the Thief will be destroyed. Since Smoke Grenade of the Thief was destroyed without being equipped to the monster, its effect will not activate.
