“What happens if I target a Paleozoic Marrella treated as a Normal Monster with Book of Moon?”
Q: If I activate Book of Moon targeting a Paleozoic Marrella, which was treated as a Normal Monster and Special Summoned by its own effect, what happens?
A: It will remain in its Monster Zone in face-down Defense Position. (It is not Set in your Spell & Trap Zone.) Also, even if that Paleozoic Marrella becomes face-up again, it is still treated as a Normal Monster (Aqua/WATER/Level 2/ATK 1200/DEF 0), but the effect “if Summoned this way, this card is unaffected by monster effects, also banish it when it leaves the field” is no longer applied. (That Paleozoic Marrella can be affected by monster effects, and if it would be sent to the GY as a result of being destroyed, etc., it will be sent to the GY normally.)
Similarly, if you activate Book of Moon and target the following cards treated as monsters, since they are not still also treated as Trap Cards, they will be placed in face-down Defense Position in your Monster Zone.
– Paleozoic Eldonia
– Paleozoic Olenoides
– Paleozoic Canadia
– Paleozoic Dinomischus
– Paleozoic Hallucigenia
– Paleozoic Pikaia
– Paleozoic Leanchoilia
– The Phantom Knights of Shadow Veil

“Can I activate Predaplast by targeting Level 1 monsters, Xyz Monsters, or Link Monsters?”
Q: Can Predaplast be activated by targeting face-up Level 1 monsters, Xyz Monsters, or Link Monsters?
A: Yes, Predaplast can be activated by targeting Level 1 monsters, Xyz Monsters, and/or Link Monsters. In that case, the effect that places a Predator Counter on it is applied normally. (Since the targeted monster is not a Level 2 or higher monster, the part of the effect that makes it become Level 1 is not applied.)
The same applies to the following effects that place Predator Counters.
– Second effect of Predaplant Squid Drosera
– First effect of Predaplant Spinodionaea
– First effect of Predaplant Triantis
– First effect of Predaplant Dragostapelia
– Second effect of Predaplant Banksiogre
– First effect of Predaplant Flytrap
– First effect of Predaplant Pterapenthes

“If control of a Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated changes to my opponent, can my opponent activate the effect of that Red Wyvern?”
Q: A Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated is face-up in my Monster Zone. If control of that Red Wyvern changes to my opponent due to the effect of Change of Heart, can my opponent activate the effect of Red Wyvern?
A: The effect of Red Wyvern can only be used once as long as it remains face-up on the field. If your opponent takes control of Red Wyvern after you have already activated its effect, your opponent will not be able to activate the effect of that Red Wyvern.
The effects of the following monsters are similar.
– Second effect of Baronne de Fleur
– Second effect of Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord
– Security Dragon
– First effect of Firewall Dragon
– Second effect of Silent Paladin
– Schuberta the Melodious Maestra

“Can I activate the banishing effect of Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss targeting The Prime Monarch treated as a monster?”
Q: Can I activate the effect of Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss targeting The Prime Monarch, which is treated as a Normal Monster by its own effect?
A: Yes, you can. In that case, the banished The Prime Monarch returns to the Monster Zone during the End Phase, but it is no longer treated as a monster and is immediately sent to the GY.
The same applies if the following Trap Cards that were Special Summoned as monsters by their own effects are temporarily banished from the Monster Zone.
– Time Thief Power Reserve
– You’re Finished
– Prey of the Jirai Gumo
– Mimesis Elephant
– Apophis the Swamp Deity

“If a Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated is banished and returned to the field by the effect of Interdimensional Matter Transporter, can I activate the effect of that Red Wyvern?”
Q: A Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated is face-up in my Monster Zone. If that Red Wyvern is then banished by the effect of Interdimensional Matter Transporter and returned to the field during the End Phase, can I activate the effect of that Red Wyvern again?
A: Yes, you can.
The effects of the following monsters are similar.
– Second effect of Baronne de Fleur (cannot be activated during a turn the second effect of Baronne de Fleur has already been used)
– Second effect of Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord (cannot be activated during a turn the second effect of Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord has already been used)

“If a Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated is changed to face-down Defense Position and then flipped face-up again, can I activate the effect of that Red Wyvern?”
Q: A Red Wyvern whose effect has already been activated is face-up in my Monster Zone. If that Red Wyvern is then changed to face-down Defense Position by another card effect and then flipped face-up afterward, can I activate the effect of that Red Wyvern again?
A: Yes, you can.
The effects of the following monsters are similar.

“What happens if Couple of Aces is Special Summoned from my hand to my opponent’s field while the effect of Remove Brainwashing is applying?”
Q: While the effect of Remove Brainwashing is applying, I resolved the effect of Couple of Aces in my hand, and the coin toss result was tails. After the effect resolves, which player will activate the second effect of Couple of Aces?
A: You, the controller of Couple of Aces after its first effect resolves (and at the time its second effect would activate), will activate the effect. (Control of Couple of Aces returns to you immediately after you finish resolving its first effect.)
“If a Performapal King Bear whose ATK is increased by its own Continuous Effect is destroyed by battle, can the Pendulum Effect of Performapal King Bear be activated?”
Q: During my Battle Phase, I have Performapal King Bear in my Monster Zone and Performapal Smile Sorcerer in my Pendulum Zone. If my attacking Performapal King Bear, whose ATK is increased to 2400 during the Battle Phase by its own effect, is destroyed by battle, can I activate the Pendulum Effect of Performapal Smile Sorcerer?
A: Yes, you can. (This is treated as a situation where a monster with 2400 ATK was destroyed by battle, and the condition for activating the effect of Performapal Smile Sorcerer has been met.)
“If control of a Link Summoned S:P Little Knight is immediately changed by chaining the effect of I:P Masquerena to Triple Tactics Talent, who can activate its effect?”
Q: I activate the effect of Triple Tactics Talent that takes control of an opponent’s monster, but my opponent chains the effect of I:P Masquerena. As a result, S:P Little Knight is Link Summoned due to the effect of I:P Masquerena, and I take control of that S:P Little Knight with the effect of Triple Tactics Talent. In this case, which player can activate the first effect of Couple of Aces?
A: You, the controller of S:P Little Knight after the previous Chain resolves (and at the time its first effect could be activated), can activate the effect.
As many people who follow OCG ruling updates are already aware, this and the Couple of Aces ruling above are a full reversal of how certain Trigger Effects interacted with non-targeting control change effects. The Couple of Aces ruling in particular was often cited for situations involving Triple Tactics Talents vs effects that Summon (like I:P Masquerena into Knightmare Unicorn, or Branded in Red into Guardian Chimera). This change also unifies these rulings with another often-cited ruling that already had this outcome, involving Cyber Angel Natasha and Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign – Chengying.
