“If a monster that I can only control 1 of is face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone as an Equip Spell or Continuous Spell, can I Special Summon a monster with the same name?”
Q: If Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon, which has the effect that states “you can only control 1”, is placed face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone as an Equip Spell due to the effect of Relinquished, can I Special Summon another Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon?
Also, if Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is placed face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell due to the effect of Sinful Spoils of Subversion – Snake-Eye, can I Special Summon another Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon?
A: In either case, another Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon cannot be Special Summoned. (You still control a Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon.)
The same applies to the following monsters with the effect “you can only control 1”:
– Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
– Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess

“If Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity destroys Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, will its effect activate?”
Q: If Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity destroys an Embodiment of Apophis treated as a monster by battle, will its effect that inflicts damage to my opponent activate?
A: The effect will activate, since the condition “if this card destroys a monster by battle” was met. When it resolves, the effect inflicts 1600 damage to your opponent, which was the original ATK of Embodiment of Apophis.
Similarly, the effects of the following monsters can also be activated if they destroy a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle, and will inflict damage based on its original ATK/DEF.
– Genex Ally Triforce
– Enlightenment Paladin
– Ruin, Supreme Queen of Oblivion
– Despian Proskenion
– Magikey Deity – Ashtartu
– Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman
“If Digital Bug Scaradiator destroys The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine treated as a monster by battle, can its effect be activated?”
Q: My opponent’s The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine, which was treated as a monster by its own effect, is destroyed by my Digital Bug Scaradiator by battle. In this case, can I activate the effect of Digital Bug Scaradiator that attaches the destroyed monster to it as an Xyz Material?
A: No, you cannot. Effects with the condition of a monster being destroyed by battle and sent to the GY can only be activated if the opponent’s destroyed monster is still a monster in the GY. Therefore, the activation conditions for the effect of Digital Bug Scaradiator have not been met.
Similarly, the activation conditions for the following effects are only met if the destroyed monster is still a monster in the GY:
– Blackwing – Boreastorm the Wicked Wind
– Cyber Angel Benten
– Ignoble Knight of High Laundsallyn
– Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon
– Number C105: Battlin’ Boxer Comet Cestus
– Gem-Knight Topaz
– Stygian Street Patrol
– Thought Ruler Archfiend
– Evil HERO Inferno Wing
– Darkblaze Dragon
– Volcanic Doomfire
– Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman
– Elemental HERO Flame Wingman
– Guardian Angel Joan
“Can I activate Lullaby of Obedience if an effect that prevents Special Summoning or an effect that prevents adding cards from the Deck to the hand is applying?”
Q: Can I activate Lullaby of Obedience in the following situations?
(A) While the effect of Thunder King Rai-Oh is applying.
(B) While the effect of my own Thunder Dragon Colossus is applying.
(C) While the effect of Vanity’s Fiend is applying.
(D) While the effect of my own Vanity’s Ruler is applying.
(E) While the effects of both Thunder King Rai-Oh and Vanity’s Fiend are applying.
A: Your opponent chooses which of the two “●” effects for Lullaby of Obedience is performed, but the player who activated Lullaby of Obedience performs that effect’s action. Therefore, when your opponent chooses an “●” effect, they cannot choose one that cannot be performed by the player who activated Lullaby of Obedience.
(A) You can activate it. If the declared monster is in your opponent’s Deck, your opponent chooses the effect “The player who activated this card Special Summons the declared monster to their field in Attack Position, ignoring its Summoning conditions.” (They cannot choose the effect “The declared monster is added to the hand of the player who activated this card.”)
(B) You can activate it. If the declared monster is in your opponent’s Deck, your opponent can choose either “●” effect.
(C) You can activate it. If the declared monster is in your opponent’s Deck, your opponent chooses the effect “The declared monster is added to the hand of the player who activated this card.” (They cannot choose the effect “The player who activated this card Special Summons the declared monster to their field in Attack Position, ignoring its Summoning conditions.”)
(D) You can activate it. If the declared monster is in your opponent’s Deck, your opponent can choose either “●” effect.
(E) You cannot activate it.
“If Predaplant Moray Nepenthes destroys The Phantom Knights of Tomb Shield treated as a monster by battle, can its effect be activated?”
Q: My opponent’s The Phantom Knights of Tomb Shield, which was treated as a monster by its own effect, is destroyed by my Predaplant Moray Nepenthes by battle. In this case, can I activate the effect of Predaplant Moray Nepenthes that equips the destroyed monster to it as an Equip Card?
A: No, you cannot. (The destroyed The Phantom Knights of Tomb Shield is not treated as a monster outside of the Monster Zone, so the effect “equip that monster to this card” cannot be applied.)
Furthermore, the effects of the following monsters cannot be activated if they destroy a Trap Card treated as a monster by battle:
– Infinitrack Earth Slicer
– Infinitrack Mountain Smasher
– Infinitrack River Stormer
“If the effect of Necrovalley is applying, can I Special Summon Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World from the GY using its own effect?”
Q: Necrovalley is face-up in my opponent’s Field Zone, and its effect is applying. In this situation, can I Special Summon Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World from the GY using its own effect?
A: You cannot attempt to Special Summon it. (So you also cannot return a “Dark World” monster you control to the hand.) Since the effect of Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World Special Summons itself from the GY, it is considered an effect that moves a card in the GY to another place.
Similar to Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World, the following monsters also have effects of Special Summon themselves from the GY that do not start a Chain. If the effect of Necrovalley is applying, you cannot Special Summon them from the GY by their own effects:
– Endymion, the Master Magician
– Machina Fortress
– Dragunity Arma Leyvaten
– Lightpulsar Dragon
– Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra
– Majesty Hyperion
– Reign-Beaux, Overking of Dark World
– Imsety, Glory of Horus
– Duamutef, Blessing of Horus
– Hapy, Vanguard of Horus
– Qebehsenuef, Aegis of Horus
“When my opponent activates the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from their hand, can I chain and activate Orcust Crescendo?”
Q: When my opponent activates the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from their hand, can I chain and activate Orcust Crescendo?
A: Yes, you can. In that case, the activation of the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring is negated, but Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring itself cannot be banished since it is no longer in the same location its effect activated from (its effect was activated in the hand by discarding it as the cost).
The same applies if any of the following effects are chained to the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring:
– Myutant Ultimus
– Shooting Majestic Star Dragon
– Nekroz of Areadbhair
– Dragunity Knight – Areadbhair
– Cynet Conflict
– Tri-Gate Wizard
– Invoked Mechaba
– Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju
– Infernoid Devyaty
– Debunk
“If I destroy a monster and add Sacred Fire King Garunix to my hand with the effect of Fire King Island, can I activate the effect of that Sacred Fire King Garunix?”
Q: When I activate the effect of Fire King Island, “During your Main Phase: You can destroy 1 monster in your hand or you control, and if you do, add 1 “Fire King” monster from your Deck to your hand”, I destroy a monster whose original Attribute is FIRE, and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from my Deck to my hand. After the effect resolves, can I activate the effect of that added Sacred Fire King Garunix?
A: Yes, you can.
“What happens if I Xyz Summon D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga while the second effect of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is applying?”
Q: My opponent controls a Defense Position Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir, and its effect is applying. In this situation, if I Xyz Summon D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga in Attack Position, what happens?
A: First, the effect of D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga is applied and the effects of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir are negated. D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga remains in Attack Position.
“Can I activate Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon if all monsters on the field are unaffected by card effects?”
Q: If all monsters in the Monster Zone are monsters that are unaffected by Trap effects, such as Expurrely Noir, Traptrix Allomerus, or Raidraptor – Ultimate Falcon, can I activate Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon?
A: Yes, you can. (Those monsters are simply unaffected by the effect of Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon, but they do not prevent you from activating it.) However, if you are unable to change at least 1 monster to face-down Defense Position for any reason, such as all monsters being unaffected by that effect, the part of the effect that makes each player send all face-up monsters they control to the GY is not applied.
